In midst of the modern, mindless battle to drive religion completely from American life, a small and inconvenient fact has been ignored: Virtually every important, original American idea is a product of Christianity. Further, had these doctrines never been developed, the US would arguably not been nearly as productive, free or happy. These ideas involve property, liberty, and the rule of law.Today the government bears down upon the Constitution, menacing the Bill of Rights and our entire way of life, offering to trade our freedoms for the supposed security of state control. Our very life,
Thanks for posting this MUST READ! Why aren´t we seeing such factual reminders from the media in America since those living in the USA have been the beneficiaries of this demonstrable Wisdom of the ages?
On the other hand, big government/socialism/statism fails ALL of the people every time it is tried/dictated.
Not to put to fine a point on it, but if you read the article carefully, many, if not most of the references are to the Old Testament - the Torah - making the "origins or essential American doctrines as much Jewish as Christian, which is why while America certainly is a Christian-majority country, her character and philosophy are solidly, usually and properly described as Judeo-Christian.
I wonder how many people know that the Great Seal of the United States - the bald eagle holding the olive branch and arrows - was the second version. The first was a depiction of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt.
Also, in researching a book, in which I needed to some reading about the Revolutionary War period, I encountered several quotes from preachers´ sermons supporting the Revolution and casting it in a biblical light. In every single instance I found where a preacher quoted directly from, or referred to, the Bible, it was always to the Old Testament - for example, likening George Washington to the Jonathan, or the Americans revolutionaries to the Maccabees.
And of course, the basic foundation of our system, free elections, has its roots in God´s command to the Ten Tribes to choose (elect) their own leaders.
FTA: in the section quoting John Locke,"... the legislative can have no power to transfer their authority of making laws, and place it in other hands." FDR saw to it that didn´t last, didn´t he, big-time!
I have long preached from the pulpit that the problems with progressives are spiritual in nature. If someone does not believe in God, what is left? Of course the creations of Man will try to fill the void. We all have a desire to have a god, to know that there is a higher power that has our best interests at heart. If the one true God is removed, the only thing left is government, IOW the creation. See Romans chapter 1 to see how that works.
The problem with replacing god with government is that the hearts of men are fallen, we are flawed, and our hearts are totally wicked. When given too much power, we start to become tyrants. It has always been this way, and the founders were wise enough to see this critical fact, and design our government accordingly. They saw this because they understood the meaning of the Bible.
Naturally, all gods are jealous. The one true God is very jealous, and will tolerate no worship of false gods. Likewise, the god of government is equally jealous and will strive to get rid of any religious belief that would take away any loyalty from itself. That is the real reason that the progressives hate God, the Bible, Christians and Jews so viciously, that is the competition. They love Muslims because they are fellow travelers in being opposed to western civilization. That will end once western civilization falls. No need for Allah after that. The Muslims, IOW, are being played for fools by the progs.
If the National Spy Agency (NSA), which spies on all—citizenry and foreign nations alike—and therefore knows all, then why is it necessary for the emergency drill planned to take place across North America on November 13-14 “to test the resiliency of the U.S. power grid to withstand major damage caused by a natural disaster or deliberate attack?” “GridEx 2” is coming soon to a town near you. “That is why thousands of utility workers, business executives, National Guard officers, F.B.I. antiterrorism experts and officials from government agencies in the United States, Canada and Mexico are preparing for an emergency drill in November
I remember our daily food always coming from a long, long line at the end of which was a loaf of bread, a liter of milk, a stick of butter, a bottle of murky cooking oil, or a kilo of bones with traces of meat and fat on them. The interminable lines looked like this bread line pictured above. We never knew what was sold at the end of a line we happened to come upon, but we knew we needed whatever people lined up to buy, so we joined the line. If we wanted to eat, we learned at
“Fasten your seatbacks and tray tables in their full upright and locked position. We’ll be on the ground shortly.” That is the final warning aboard the aircraft known as America, which will be using runway 39A to taxi to the terminal of tyranny. Most of the passengers aboard the luxury aircraft have no clue to what awaits them, as the captain and crew have lulled the majority into a false trance of tranquility. The few aboard the aircraft who were aware of their final destination tried to warn the other unsuspecting passengers, who have been immersed in their personal electronic devices,
In the midst of ObamaCare woes and multi-million dollar healthcare-gov websites that don’t work, we could all be singing the new Barack Obama signature song, if only for Obama levity: He Didn’t Know the Gun was Loaded. Obama took aim, fired and shot America’s not-broken-don’t-fix-it healthcare in the heart, but, yeah, he didn’t really know the gun was loaded. ‘He Didn’t Know the Gun was Loaded’ was the song sung by Sebelius when she was called to face the music yesterday. “I doubt many people believe the claim of Sebelius that Obama knew nothing about HealthCare.gov’s problems until right before
There must be a political strategy at work in President Barack Obama’s glitch-bedeviled healthcare.gov website and the enormous time and money it took just to get it up and running. Everything Obama connected comes with a political strategy that many don’t see until it’s too late to act. In terms of healthcare.gov, the Obama administration would call the big stall “buying time”. Those seeing clearly through the fog would call it “Obama lollygagging”. Make that Obama lollygagging up to and beyond the all-important November 4, 2014 Midterm Elections.
A friend recently called and asked, “So when do you think Obama will declare martial law?” Until last week, I would have dismissed such speculation as conspiratorial. Now I’m not so sure. Before this phony government “shutdown,” if you had asked whether I believed that American military and law enforcement personnel would follow an order from Barack Obama, or any other president, to turn their guns on their own countrymen, I would have said no. However, after witnessing the behavior of armed National Park Service officers unnecessarily closing our national monuments, parks, and even our military cemeteries in Europe, while simultaneously
Was President Barack Obama aiming for a tech company well-versed in designing websites for a single-payer health system when he awarded the now glitch-riddled healthcare.gov contract to Canadian CGI? Behind all the glitches, and at the heart of the utterly stalled healthcare.gov, that’s exactly what CGI is: the Canadian tech firm—Canada’s largest—that has provided to Canada’s single-payer health system. Is that the dirty little secret hidden behind the public embarrassment that even after spending $93.7 million—a figure expected to double to correct—the Obama administration can’t get healthcare.gov up and running?
When Marxists are rummaging in the bottom of their bag of tricks to drive the masses to panic, it’s only commonsense that you do the exact opposite. It must be frustrating for a president waiting five long years for folk to panic when they are clearly standing their ground on not giving him his way. It’s a frustration that’s so easy to read in consideration of yesterday’s Immigration Rally held at the closed National Mall, where lawmakers arrived in golf carts to hear a Nancy Pelosi speech. Halloween costumes were the only thing missing
The main motive behind Barack Obama’s closing off open-air war memorials and Mount Rushmore from public view is to force attention back to him and his Mrs. as indisputable natural rulers of the world. Hitler had it, Napoleon had it, radical Islam still practices it, and the Obamas got it in spades—an unquenchable thirst to be obeyed as unquestioned world leaders. In Obama’s narcissistic thinking, he and only he is Mount Rushmore, the World War II War Memorial, and the only loyal lure that continues to bring people to cemeteries in Europe and around the world to honor the American war dead.
Did President Barack Obama’s surprise walk out of the White House Friday to get a sandwich and a spotlight in the ongoing government shutdown have anything to do with CFP’s contention that the 2013 White House is under siege? In an out-of-the-blue Friday afternoon move, the president decided to take himself a stroll a block up Pennsylvania Avenue to a Taylor Gourmet deli where he bought himself a furlough-discount turkey sandwich. (AP, Oct. 4, 2013) You can’t make these things up and neither can the AP. The CFP story stated that the White House is under siege and has been so ever since
The world dramatically changed on November 4, 2008, when a tolerance of hatred came through the door with the election of Senator Barack Obama as US President. Hatred, like evil, had always been part of man’s world, but never crowned by the White House. Before Obama’s rock star-like election, the hatred originating from public figures like Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who until responding about the death of Muammar Qaddafi, loved Obama: “We voted for our brother Barack, a beautiful human being with a sweet heart. Now he’s an assassin”, was tolerated. Even last week, Farrakhan and his security contingent held pedestrians
Last Thursday in Towson, Maryland, concerned parent Robert Small was physically removed from a public forum for daring to interrupt Baltimore County Schools Superintendent Dallas Dance during the so-called “question-and-answer” portion of a school board meeting. Dance was only answering questions from parents previously submitted in writing. When Small stood up to tell the audience that he believed the introduction of the new Common Core curriculum would compromise education standards, he was approached by an off-duty police officer working as a security guard and forcibly removed from the auditorium. He was subsequently handcuffed, and charged with second-degree assault of a
From Florida to California, consumers are getting notices their health plans are cancelled. They were promised they could keep their plan if they liked it. That was a lie. They’ve been duped and dropped. The liar is none other than the President of the United States. On June 15, 2009, President Obama told a town hall meeting that “No matter how we reform healthcare, we will keep this promise…. if you like your healthcare plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”
President Barack Obama is facing fresh attacks for his pledge that Americans who like their current healthcare plans can keep them under Obamacare, as reports pile up of thousands of Americans facing cancellation notices. Accusations that the pledge was misleading are potentially a deeper threat to Obama than the website glitches that have plagued Healthcare.gov since its October 1 launch and allowed only a trickle of people to sign up on new federal insurance exchanges. Obama has downplayed the problems with the website, saying it´s like a cash register not working, and has stressed that the underlying product of the
Food stamp recipients face a massive benefit cut set to kick in when stimulus funds expire Friday. The nationwide cut “is equivalent to about 16 meals a month for a family of three,” according to a Center on Budget and Policy Priorities analysis using the USDA’s “Thrifty Food Plan.” CBPP called the roughly $5 billion annual cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program “unprecedented” in “depth and breadth.” “If you look across the world, riots always begin typically the same way: when people cannot afford to eat food,” Margarette Purvis, the president and CEO of the Food Bank..
Meghan McCain said she’s already defied the odds by not disappearing from the public stage after her father’s failed 2008 presidential campaign, and that part of the reason is some regard her as the new face of the Republican Party. “People project onto me what they want me to be,” said Ms. McCain, the daughter of Arizona Sen. John McCain, in Politico. “If they want me to be this spoiled, crass senator’s daughter, then they will create that and say that to be on Twitter and write articles on me.” Others, meanwhile, “think I’m the second coming of the new
"There´s a mental health problem in Congress," says actor and liberal activist Sean Penn. The president could solve the problem "by committing them by executive order," Penn told CNN´s Piers Morgan Monday night. Asked if Penn would have "people like Ted Cruz" committed, Penn said, "He is my American brother. I won´t -- I think we should take care of him, he is in, he´s the trouble." "Well, actually have him committed," Morgan followed up. "Yeah, I think it´s a good idea," Penn said. Penn, in a rambling way, also identified a "lack of education" as a "huge problem that we´re dealing with
It was a spasm of violence that stunned residents: some 200 black youths raising hell - what police called a full-blown riot - in Austin, Texas. Angry black youths inexplicably converged by the Highland Mall, near an iconic haunted house attraction, and walked atop parked cars, fought among themselves, and hurled rocks at some 30 arriving police officers.(snip)In their reporting on the riot, Austin´s media outlets followed a widely accepted rule of mainstream journalism today: they failed to mention that the rioters were black. Yet many Austin residents surmised as much -- and their suspicions were confirmed when mug shots were
In sad news from the land of McCain, “Raising McCain” host and McCain family scion Meghan McCain said in an interview with ABC and Yahoo News that her father, Senator John McCain (R-AZ), was “frustrated” and “depressed” by the Tea Party. Meghan termed the Tea Party the “hyper-conservative wing.” She said, “We’re both frustrated with the idea that only the hyper-conservative wing of the party is going to represent the masses.” The last time dad was this depressed, Meghan reported, was after he lost the presidency to then-Senator Barack Obama. Meghan said, “He is so depressed. He is so downtrodden. The way
On Monday, NBC News reported that President Obama’s administration knew for three years that Americans would lose their current insurance under Obamacare. The story quickly became the lead at the Drudge Report, making it the hottest political story on the Internet immediately. For several hours, there was no problem. Then, late at night, the story was pulled, the link was changed thereby breaking the Drudge link, and stealth edits were made to the piece. In particular, one key paragraph met the cutting room floor: None of this should come as a shock to the Obama administration. The law states that
It’s just one tweet, but the sheer mendacity requires its own post. With the media finally in “now it can be told” mode since Obamacare passed and President Obama was reelected, pretty much everyone is admitting what all of us knew four years ago— that no, not everyone would be able to keep their plans if they liked their plans. And, yes, the Obama administration knew it just as sure as its critics did. It was a lie and an obvious one, but the administration, much of the media, and Obamacare supporters happily acted as if it were true and happily
Ronan Farrow is already in MSNBC mid-season form. Farrow, the son of actress Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, is set to debut his own MSNBC talk show early next year. His latest political comments, though, find him boosting the image of the Clintons in a way that even the far-left network might not embrace. They´re nimble politicians. Also I think that they represent a style of honesty that the public craves right now. And that´s reflected in the numbers. I think people are tired of the old school politicking, and when a politician comes out and says, “Actually, I changed my
Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, is telling a Senate panel Tuesday that states must clarify their "stand your ground" self-defense laws. The laws, adopted in some form by at least 22 states, generally cancel a person´s duty to retreat in the face of a serious physical threat. But the 2012 shooting of Fulton´s unarmed son, Trayvon Martin, 17, and the acquittal of George Zimmerman this year provided evidence that "stand your ground" laws can be confusing and applied inconsistently, she said. "By being unclear in when and how it is applied, stand your ground in its current form is far
Conservatives are expressing shock and outrage that the Obama administration knew that many people in the individual insurance market would not be able to keep their plans once the Affordable Care Act took effect. Such shock is not surprising; overblown outrage is the stock and trade of conservative politics these days. But here´s what conservatives won´t tell you, lest it undermine their theatrics: Many insurance plans are shutting down because they don´t meet the higher bar of quality benefits required under Obamacare, and of those people who lose access to their plans, many will pay less and all will have better
