Reality Check: Loopholes
Allow Double Dipping

WPMI-TV [Mobile, AL], by Tami Brehse

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 4/2/2013 11:35:37 PM

Mobile, Ala. — In March we told you how much food stamp fraud costs Alabama taxpayers. In a Local 15 follow-up investigation, we found out the problem goes beyond food assistance. Some clients know how to take advantage of the system to double dip in multiple entitlement programs. On paper, Raven Yates is a young, single mother of two who´s out of a job. But when we did a little digging, the reality proved much different. Documents we obtained show in August of 2012, Yates applied and was approved for Section 8 housing for herself and her two kids.

Comments:
Blood-boiling story shows how pathetically easy it is to scam the system we working stiffs are compelled to fund. Republicans as usual are powerless, lest those mean Democrats call them names.

Video has more details than the written counterpart.

our country is burning down around us. It´s a maelstrom, and all we do is sit around the Lucianne coffee table and chatter. Nobody´s going down to their local giveaway government agency and ask them just what the hell is going on down here, anyway. It´s lots easier to sit here and chatter. Actually, it´s all our fault because we´re all such whooses that none of have enough cojones to go down there and let these people know face-to-face that we don´t like them, we don´t like their jobs, we don´t line their clients and we´re damned tired of paying for all their freeloading habits.

Democrat politicians are fully aware of the fraud and have no issue with it, because as the OP correctly suggests, any Republican who tries to tighten the rules will automatically be tagged as the mean old white man taking food out of the mouths of starving babies.

#1, I agree but going down to the office does no good. You have to go to your representatives and Senators. The social workers are actually proud to give away as much as they can to illegals and people who scam the system. My friend tried to get help when desperate. They gave him the bare minimum in food stamps and nothing for other necessities. He was told outright that had he been an immigrant, he could have gotten more because "immigrants" were less likely to have family to rely on. If you know anything about these illegals, they have tons of family, they all work under the table, get government benes and send half the money to Mexico or other places south. They all have nice cars and all sorts of other goodies too. My friend had no family to help, had been hurt in a bad accident but still tries everything to find work (with no luck because he wasn´t latino and didn´t speak Spanish). The system is messed up.

Biggest problem is these dumb, ignorant and stupid Liberals keep electing these pathetic excuses for politicians.

We need to shame them, shame the press and shame the politicians out of office, or when the run for reelection.

If they can call people names we can too. How would some of these people like it if their neighbors thought they were child molesters? Yes it´s extreme but it´s the only way to get the attention of idiots.

Nothing honorable about this system.

I wouldn´t go down the racial road, though. Trust me, I know lots of folks of all persuasions playing the entitlement system. It sucks the soul out of them and makes them comfortable with being a criminal.

Once we lose the rule of law, we´re toast.

I don´t consider this loopholes,it´s downright government stupidity. How long do you have to watch these people to realize that an honor system is totally laughable?

Then you have to wonder about the intelligence of insurance companies offering renters insurance without taking an inventory of what someone has when the policy is issued. How about a receipt for that gaming system?

It wouldn´t surprise me if the phantom husband claims the kids and they split the earned income check.

There is a whole culture, indeed some multi-generational families who live on the dole and have no interest in productive work. The millions added to disability is a prime example. I am not too old to remember welfare reform which created other ´safety net´ programs which simply took its place.

In other words , Monroe here is just following orders. #1, you go ahead and accost a worker at the local welfare office. We´ll stay here around the coffee table and take up a collection for your bail.

#3 is correct. Social Services programs are measured in terms of how much they give away to bolster the myth of people starving and all that. My daughter´s family is regularly canvassed by helpful social workers for programs and money they might receive, if they would apply. They have no need and refuse. Most programs have very broad qualifications, which are not checked closely.

Just because a parent or parents receives food stamps for their kids does not mean that allotment is actually being used to feed the kids, as all over the country kids now get "free" breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in the public schools, even throughout the summer months.
