As the proverbial offal hits the fan, adjunct instructors and their union leaders are understandably panic-stricken as they finally realize the impact of ObamaCare on their livelihoods. Union representatives are now sending their members letters stating that "the Affordable Care Act [aka ObamaCare] has defined full time as anyone working over 30 hours a week or 130 hours a month." Many of these hardworking and well-meaning local labor representatives, who were duped -- I mean, told by the American Federation of Teachers Union (AFT) that Obama was the one who would bring all good things to pass
What about the elementary, middle school and high school teachers? I would think they make up the bulk of the teacher´s union. If I remember correctly, they pretty much got a pass on costs (at least for now).
The supposedly "smart" people had four years to figure out the liar in chief and they couldn´t do it in that time. Now, five months later, when it´s too late, it dawns on them that they are screwed. Well, stew in it baby. Cry me a river.
Before we enjoy this too much - remember these are PUBLIC employees. The next go around contract negotiations will demand a rise in citizens property tax bills to cover teachers losses at having to pay more of their own health cost. And NO ONE at the bargaining table will be looking out for our side. Choke on that.
But if administration and union members put aside their differences and march en masse on the White House to demand that ObamaCare be overturned, this would open a spigot that would bring out other Americans who see their medical care and work opportunities shortchanged and adversely affected.
This is where we as conservatives need to focus everyone´s attention. There is a lot of real pain in this country. If we simply continue to highlight that pain and make clear what the causes are, we could turn these people around in a heartbeat.
But if we keep on trying to make Obama look bad, we will lose simply because these morons will remain sympathetic.
The 29 hour-no benefits work week for support staff has been a staple of many Arizona school districts for years.
If members of school boards and boards of supervisors want to be reelected, they had better not try to pass along insurance costs to the taxpayers. The unions have shot themselves in the foot by promoting Obama and his slapped together programs. No thought went into this, just everything and the kitchen sink.
I am a support staff employee at a school. My insurance premium went to almost $400 a paycheck. I had to drop coverage as I certainly do not make that much money. A teacher with the same policy that I had has to pay 8 CENTS a paycheck. Our property taxes went up last year to help "save our schools". As far as I am concerned the teacher´s union can go to hell. Point of order my husband and my son both have teaching degrees.
The Hill reports that Republican members of Congress are contemplating actions to combat President Obama´s lawbreaking methods of ruling from the Oval Office. "GOP officials have long claimed that the president has violated the law and the Constitution through administrative actions on issues ranging from immigration to nominations to the U.S. military involvement in Libya," (snip)Obama has now reached the tipping point, however, with his illegal "fix" of Obamacare designed to overcome his lie that Americans can keep their health insurance. The president´s open lawbreaking following his notorious lying puts Democrats´ electoral prospects at risk. It frustrates the unquestioning goodwill and
You may have thought that the most painful part of Obamacare was the rollout of healthcare.gov. Sadly, the worst is yet to come. Obamacare has a Three-Step Cancellation Program that ends with cancelling you. Step One: Cancel your insurance By "cancel your insurance," I mean precisely the opposite result of what President Obama initially promised: to reduce (eliminate?) the stain of having millions of uninsured Americans. In October 2013, millions of our countrymen and women began to receive notices that their health insurance carriers were canceling their existing insurance effective 2014 in order to comply with Obamacare. (snip) Step Two: Cancel
The irony is just too delicious. Remember when President Obama rounded up some of the few people who were able to sign up for Obamacare, and one of them fainted? He also cited a letter he got from a Washington State woman, Jessica Sanford. Libertyfirstnews summarizes: Obama related Sanford´s story in remarks from the Rose Garden last Oct. 21: "I recently received a letter from a woman named Jessica Sanford in Washington state, and here´s what she wrote. ´I am a single mom, no child support, self-employed, and I haven´t had health insurance for 15 years
While black celebrities such as Oprah continue to claim that Obama is opposed and disrespected because he is black, the truth is the polar opposite. Because Obama is black, he enjoys unprecedented imperialistic power and respect. Obama ignores the Constitution, changing and refusing to enforce laws at will. Despite impeachable offenses, white America does not have the stomach to impeach the first "African-American" president.(snip)How are millions of white Americans responding to being called racist by black celebs (Oprah, Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman, and others) who have become multimillionaires as a result of white patronage? These black celebs are absurdly using
While families across the Midwest were reeling from tornadoes and storm damage, President Obama spent four hours playing golf Sunday (his 151st round of golf as president) and then took in a college basketball game at the University of Maryland. The Maryland Terrapins were taking on the Oregon State Beavers, coached by Michelle´s older brother Craig Robinson. What a great day for the president! His two favorite sports in one day. What, me worry? But it was not all sweetness and light. You see, the fans actually booed him. And people were Tweeting about it (snip) it´s going to be a
A disturbing trend among American conservatives is the increasing sense of optimism about President Obama´s slow fade in mainstream perceptions, and its ramifications for the future of American leftism. Does Obama´s decline entail the undoing of the movement he represents? Progressivism´s history reveals another option, which is that the movement will, in the name of saving itself, reject Obama. Progressives are rigid in their ideology, to be sure, but this rigidity does not extend to their support for leaders. (snip) Hillary Clinton -- ay, there´s the rub.
We know that President Obama is desperate because he has lost the trust of the American people. A majority, according to some polls, believe he deliberately lied about keeping your insurance and doctor. Once the majority doubt his word, all sorts of other ugly questions start getting raised about other claims he has made - about himself, about the country, about the GOP, really, about everything that has come out of his mouth. When in crisis, the habitual trump card of race gets played. And who better to play it than Oprah Winfrey, who is loved and trusted, especially by the
The main reason I left the insurance industry years ago was the fatigue of marketing a product that is misunderstood by the vast majority of its customer base, not to mention the majority of functionaries inside the industry. (snip)we all now live in a country where the industry is being seized by a president who remains totally oblivious to its realities. Yet he insists on occupying the position as grand poobah CEO of all of it, and ruling by edict. And his epic "fix" can be translated this way: If you like your coverage, you can rent it. Maybe. There are so
Ezekiel Emanuel, ObamaCare architect, Ph.D, bioethicist, Harvard M.D., a brilliant man who displays his intelligence by continuing to defend ObamaCare. He is the president´s top healthcare adviser. He is famous for promoting the idea that medical resources should be primarily directed in support of adolescents and young adults. The elderly and infants should take a back seat, especially if medical resources become scarce. Many have accused Ezekiel of advocating a ´bioethical´ stance that would allow the very old and the very young to die, untreated
The tangled web Barack Obama has woven for himself and the Democratic Party, which passed his signature legislation in lockstep, has left him with no way out. The multiple deceptions inherent in Obamacare are becoming obvious, and because they affect the health, wealth and welfare of every American, they cannot be papered over by a supportive media haze. The "you-can-keep-your" lies about insurance policies and doctors are only the first stage of deception.
President Obama´s press conference on Obamacare "fixes" today started more than half an hour after its announced time, a good indicator of last minute panic over wording. That´s because appearances, not substance, are the essence of this "plan." For one thing, state insurance commissioners must approve any new plans. In California, health insurers have been required to sign contracts promising to end old policies, and the federal government lacks the authority to change lawful contracts. (snip) This fix is designed to fix nothing, but just look like a fix. Insurance companies can decide to stick with their cancellations and they
President Barack Obama is the perfect "Low Information President." He is not really interested very much in doing his job. He doesn´t know anything going on in his own administration. He is always the last to know. He learns important developments only when he reads about it in the newspaper, apparently after first reading the sports section. But Obama is keenly interested in basketball. He has turned his NCAA championship "brackets" predictions chart into a presidential event.(snip)The Commissioner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) David Stern is retiring at the end of this year. So let´s give Barack Obama a promotion...
President Barack Obama told the Wall Street CEO Council Tuesday that his administration has "reined in spending" and "cut our deficits by more than half." "After years of trillion-dollar deficits we reined in spending, wound down two wars and began to change a tax code that I believe was too skewed towards the wealthiest among us at the expense of the middle class," said Obama. "And since I took office, we have now cut our deficits by more than half. Add it all and businesses like yours have created 7.8 million new jobs over the past 44 months, we´ve gone farther
´´Knockout´´ attacks have been reported in several states around the country and now investigators believe three people have been attacked in our area. Police in Lower Merion are investigating two attacks in the area, and Philadelphia detectives are investigating an attack in Northeast Philadelphia. It’s a violent crime that in other parts of the country has proven fatal. Videos from cities around the country show people being punched and beaten at random.
Negligence? Absolutely. Incompetence? The case can be made. But scandalous? To suggest that the White House has willfully engaged in the intentional misleading of the public and an outrageous dereliction of its responsibilities to enforce the laws passed by Congress has been a bridge too far. Until recently. New revelations are now forcing even the most reluctant of President Barack Obama’s critics to concede that the Affordable Care Act’s implementation has evolved into a scandal. “I was not informed directly that the website would not be working, as the way it was supposed to,” Obama told reporters on November 14.
It´s no secret that Sarah Palin is mighty steamed at MSNBC and Martin Bashir over his despicable remarks about the abusive treatment he imagines for her. And now she´s doing something about it. The former Alaska governor and Fox News contributor was scheduled to sit down with Matt Lauer for a Christmas season interview. That´s now toast. Palin has now canceled Lauer´s scheduled trip to Wasilla, a source close to her tells me. It´s not because Palin is upset with Lauer or the "Today" show, but as a protest against NBC for not taking action against Bashir. In fact, Palin once sat
MICHELLE OBAMA: I thought I wanted to be a pediatrician when I was really little and then I wasn´t that great at math and science so I switched to law because my mother told me that I like to argue a lot. But I realized in high school and in college that you don´t have to exactly know, you´re kind of always discovering yourself. So I studied law, I went to law to school, but was pretty clear I just wanted to be a good student. I wanted to know how to read and write and communicate, be able to
In an interview on BET last night with Bow Wow and Keshia Chante, First Lady Michelle Obama talked up her husband, President Barack Obama. "I always say my husband has got swag," said Mrs. Obama. "He’s got a little swag." The audience applauded. Mrs. Obama also said that the president of the United States "sings all the time." She continued, "Oh, yes, he’s in the bathroom all the time just singing." She also praised her husband. "[H]e has got a good voice." Here´s a transcript of that exchange:
Well folks, it looks like Arizona Senator John McCain will "be one of these old guys that should’ve shoved off.” According to the Arizona Republic, McCain is set to attend a glitzy fundraising for his 2016 campaign in New York City. Sen. John McCain has scheduled a December fundraiser in New York City, the surest sign yet that the veteran Arizona Republican is serious about possibly pursuing a sixth term in 2016. According to a copy of the invitation obtained Tuesday by The Arizona Republic, McCain is asking supporters to join him 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at the midtown St. Regis Hotel
WASHINGTON — Michelle Obama says she won’t wear shorts on Air Force One again because the one time she did, it created “a huge stink.”(snip)Mrs. Obama was asked about her biggest fashion regret. She said she’s always happy with her outfits but that, quote, “sometimes I forget I’m the first lady and I’m running around in shorts.” She recalled her family’s first White House vacation, to the Grand Canyon in August 2009. Mrs. Obama said her wearing shorts getting off the plane “created a huge stink because people were like, ‘she’s wearing shorts getting off of Air Force One.’” She said her thought
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama conceded that he will have to "remarket" and "rebrand" Obamacare as public confidence in him and the healthcare law he championed has plummeted. Speaking at the Wall Street Journal CEO Summit, Obama addressed the failures of the Obamacare rollout and said while he was confident that the healthcare model his administration built, which he claimed worked off of the "existing private insurance system," would succeed, the law would have to be rebranded. “We are going to have to obviously remarket and rebrand,” Obama said. “And that will be challenging in this political environment.” When he
President Barack Obama told a gathering of corporate executives Tuesday he´s confident that his model of health care will work in the end, but he said he´s going to have to "re-brand" it to sell it to a skeptical public. He didn´t use the word "Obamacare" once on Tuesday in talking about his health care law, but he mentioned the "Affordable Care Act" seven times. "So, look, I am confident that the model that we built, which works off of the existing private insurance system, is one that will succeed," Obama told the Wall Street Journal´s CEO Council Annual Meeting
The White House has admitted that it was wrong to promise that people would be able to their health care plans under Obamacare. "With respect to the pledge I made that if you like your plan you can keep it, I think -- you know, and I’ve said in interviews -- that there is no doubt that the way I put that forward unequivocally ended up not being accurate. It was not because of my intention not to deliver on that commitment and that promise. We put a grandfather clause into the law but it was insufficient," President Obama said
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says although some Democrats may be voting politically to distance themselves from Obamacare, they were still supporting the law and working in their districts to implement it. "This is history and the future and progress," she stated emphatically, "It stands right there as Social Security, Medicare, affordable health care, as a right, not a privilege for the few, but a right for the many." She was speaking Tuesday at an event sponsored by BuzzFeed. Pelosi acknowledged she was "really disappointed" that the technology behind the website failed, but said she was excited to see the program fully
