Obama´s Easter Service:
Pastor Attacks ´Captains
of the Religious Right´

Breitbart´s Big Government, by Joel B. Pollak

Original Article

At the Easter service attended Sunday by President Barack Obama and his family, the pastor railed against "captains of the religious right," according to the White House pool report cited by the Washington Post. The service, led by Rev. Luis Leon, was held at Saint John’s Church at Lafayette Square, which is where the First Family worships most often, though they have not formally joined any particular church in Washington, D.C. The Post article notes that the Easter sermon targeted conservatives as racists, sexists and xenophobes: According to a press pool report of Leon’s sermon,

What a sad excuse for a minister to spout such hateful comments on Easter. I am about as conservative as you can get and I don´t believe any of those things. I want blacks to sit anywhere on the bus as they want but I also want them to be self sufficient. I want women to do what is best for them and their families be it work or a stay at home housewife. And I have no problem with legal immigration. I guess the devil is in the details.

FTA: "The service, led by Rev. Luis Leon, was held at Saint John’s Church at Lafayette Square, which is where the First Family worships most often,..." which means, over the past four years, this is the church they´ve attended any time they need to look like your typical American, church-going family. I´m thinking maybe 8 times, tops.

I have HAD IT today. Can we please have one day where conservative Christians get a small amount of respect?

From this jerk, to the story about "Hot Jesus", to the saintly image of Cesar Chavez on the Google page I am sick of it.

When Obama succeeds in shutting down religious charities, schools, and hospitals, I hope there will be enough "progressives" around to pick up the slack.

Ahh... I see the love-fest continues.

In Rome Francis preaches Love - the true selfless love of the Bible and of Christ.

In Washington, they cannot wait to further divide and defame fellow Americans. The left calls Conservatives hateful. I guess that is because Liberals cannot contain their loathing and hatred wherever Conservatism exists.

This pastor really needs to spend about 10 years seriously studying the Holy Bible with the Companion Bible and Stronges Exhaustive Concordance.

He has made a mockery of what God wants of us.

And it sure is not what he is preaching.

I have never been to a church that preached, hate, vitriol, anger (except righteous), and racism. I attend conservative, not mainline, protestant churches.

This is Easter, every service I have ever attended preaches the Risen Christ. This man knew the Obama´s were coming, and preached the same hatred Obama does.

Sometimes I´m ashamed that I was ever confirmed in the Episcopalian Church. I was even a crucifer and an altar boy. Then came creeps such as Bishop Pike, Malcolm Boyd, the Bishop Robinson, facilitators of Puerto Rican terrorists, and other assorted clowns. Not to mention the jerk who is the boss at the National Cathedral now or Pinch Sulzberger. Thank God there are still a few congregations who can get a dander up every now and say Hell No we won´t go.

What a disappointment. It is not unexpected, not any more. Still one might have hoped that at least on Easter Day the congregation and others might have been given a break and a breather from political and racial hatreds preached from the pulpit. One of the reasons Christianity is falling into disrespect is because men like this pastor. How indeed can one take such people seriously as religious and spiritual leaders - indeed, as Christians? They are among the worldliest of the worldly, the most material of the materialists, brimming and reeking with fear, suspicion, mistrust and malice. This particular pastor, if he is being honest, seems to be clinically paranoid. He thinks or claims to think there are sinister "Captains of the Religious Right" who want to deprive Americans of their Constitutional rights. This is really kind of crazy thinking. It does not reflect reality. Is it what he truly believes? That would be a serious misunderstanding of the truth. Does he know better than this but is making the claim for partisan purposes? That would be dishonest and particularly despicable coming from a man in his position. No conceivable scenario does him credit for such language - and on Easter Sunday of all days! One wonders if the sermon made any reference to Easter at all or whether it was all about politics and secular issues. A great shame. An ominous sign.

Apparently Rev. Luis Leon has not fallen far from the Rev. Wright tree. How very sad that a supposed man of God used this most holy of days to foster disquiet and resentment. How nice it would have been if could have instead followed the lead of Pope Francis who said this about this most Holy season, “a time to enter into Christ’s way of thinking and acting. It is a time of grace given us by the Lord so that we can…. open the doors of our hearts, our lives, our parishes, our movements or associations, going out in search of others so as to bring them the light and the joy of our faith in Christ.”

Happy, joyous, blessed Easter, everyone!

I don´t know this guy Luis enough to condemn him but he bears false testimony on Conservatives wanting to put black people in the back of the bus. The Lord rebuke him for that!

It is not compassionate to preach breaking of the law or the affirmation of women who cause their own children to die in their wombs. He thinks good intentions trumps equal justice for ALL both Hispanic and non-Hispanic illegal immigrants, both legal and illegal immigrant and both living and unborn individuals.

Many so-called men of God will one day find they preach a different Jesus and the Lord never knew them. I pray for his sake that he finds the true Jesus in his lifetime.

It is not compassionate to preach breaking of the law or the affirmation of women who cause their own children to die in their wombs. The Jesus I know forgives but also says sin no more because as God the Creator of all, He can forgive and as God, the Lawgiver, He is consistent with the Law He originated.

One thing about progressive philosophy is this consistency: while conservatives regard liberals as ideologically wrongheaded, liberals regard conservatives as EVIL. They are evil according to "rev" Wright and they are evil according to Wright´s replacement, freely chosen by Obama. At this point I must go to that next step as Michael Savage has done: I also regard liberalism as a mental disease now. How does it feel to have the nation controlled by those who are diseased mentally? You can see the results all around you as Obama "frees" those "oppressed" by conservative philosophy, examples being gay marriage, illegals, and those (unlike the successful) who are "losers in life´s lottery".

Obama´s ungodly, politicized preachers tend to conflate the One with the Won, as well as bureaucratese and poor speechmaking with Holy Scripture. Their loss. Having reserved their hateful incantations not for the devil but for Christians who´ve rejected leftism and its café au lait avatar, it´s not so difficult to suppose a divine payback for the ecclesiastical abuse, for turning the church into a venue for obtuse political ululating. Zeus now has an excuse to loose a flash of heavenly juice right through the soles of his shoes. If I were him, I´d stay away from the golf course. It doth not pay to tempt the Almighty. ;)

For the long-term unemployed, finding a job is hard — but keeping one may be even harder. New research tracking people who have been out of work for six months or longer found that 23 percent of them landed a job within a few months of the study. But a year later, more than a third of that group was unemployed again or out of the labor force altogether. The findings are the latest in a bleak but growing body of literature suggesting long-term unemployment has become a trap that is difficult to escape. Economists say that means the long-term unemployed could become a permanent underclass, left behind by the nation’s broader

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. The Obama administration said Friday that it would block Iran’s nominee as ambassador to the United Nations from entering the United States, setting up a new confrontation with Tehran just as relations with the Islamic republic appeared to be improving. The decision to bar entry to the diplomat, who was allegedly involved in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, followed intense political pressure on the administration from Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. But it also marked a rare instance in which Washington has effectively vetoed another country’s preferred choice as envoy to the United Nations. Iran

Distressed homeowners seeking
mortgage relief could get
stuck with a big tax bill

Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already

The first step is admitting… It was a simple question to someone accustomed to much tougher ones: What was her proudest achievement as secretary of state? But for a moment, Hillary Rodham Clinton, appearing recently before a friendly audience at a women’s forum in Manhattan, seemed flustered.(Snip)So…no definitive successes and some clear-cut failures. And that’s the generous New York Times assessment. The Democrat fantasy story about Mrs. Clinton paints her as strong and accomplished on her own. Remember when Lois Lerner, in answering a planted question at an American Bar Association conference, admitted the IRS had targeted conservative groups but tried to pass it off as the work of rogue agents — “our line people in Cincinnati”? Today we know there were indeed federal agents involved. But they weren’t rogue, and they weren’t confined to IRS workers in Cincinnati. Thanks to a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch, we now have an e-mail Lerner sent to colleagues noting the Department of Justice was looking into criminal prosecutions of these tax-exempt groups. We know something else, too. These investigations
