TUCSON, Ariz. — The U.S. military has identified a member of the Navy’s SEAL Team 6 who died during parachute training in southern Arizona. Navy officials say 31-year-old Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle of Elizabethville, Pa., died when he and another SEAL collided in midair Thursday. (Video) Jakarta, Indonesia- Search and recovery teams have again halted their perilous task of looking for victims from the recent volcanic eruptions of Indonesia´s Mount Sinabung, disaster officials said. The death toll currently stands at 15 after plumes of ash spewed more than a mile into the sky Saturday and descended in superheated clouds. Scalding ash up to 700 degrees in temperature raced down the slope in just two to three minutes, engulfing Sukameriah, a village close to the volcano´s crater. A funnel of smoke, visible from kilometers away, has continued to shoot up from the North Sumatra mountain, turning

Actor Tom Sizemore ended up in the middle of a strange, 90s-ish kerfuffle today after audio emerged of him allegedly talking about actress Elizabeth Hurley having an affair with President Bill Clinton in the late 90s. Sizemore appeared on HuffPost Live Wednesday to categorically refute his previous words, attributing them to “the ravings of a drug-addicted actor.” One of Sizemore’s claims in this supposed audio clip was that he had a very personal moment with Clinton who demanded Hurley’s number. Sizemore made it clear at the outset: “No, it’s not true. I was never at the White House and I’d

With terrorist threats, homophobic attacks, and diplomatic tensions, many have questioned whether Sochi is ready to hold the Winter Olympic Games. Now, just days away from the landmark event, the first images have emerged of the city´s unprepared hotels. And it seems the doubtful were right. (Photographs, Tweets) Journalists checking in were left stunned as they arrived for bookings made last summer to be told they would have to wait indefinitely. The few that did get rooms, were met with stray dogs, half-built walls, and toxic yellow water spitting from the sinks. One hotel lobby had no floor - but

Who needs such low approval ratings (13 %), the extra long to-do lists with unchecked boxes, and just imagine the stress of all that gridlock. Well, a certain spiritual guru and friend of Oprah wants in. She is none other than Marianne Willamson, a bona fide congressional candidate. The best-selling self-help author, old Oprah show regular and lecturer is vying to fill retiring Rep. Henry A. Waxman’s progressive shoes in

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a warning to U.S. and some foreign airlines traveling to Russia for the Olympic Games to be on the lookout for toothpaste containers, which some intelligence indicates may actually hold ingredients that could be used to construct a bomb aboard a plane, a senior U.S. official told ABC News. The official did not provide further details about the warning or the intelligence that prompted it, but an official with the Department of Homeland Security, while declining to discuss the specific warning, said the department "regularly shares relevant information with domestic and international partners,

WASHINGTON — President Obama´s comments in a pre-Super Bowl interview about the tax exemptions of political groups have reignited the partisan debate on Capitol Hill over the Internal Revenue Service´s role in policing political speech. With IRS Commissioner John Koskinen testifying at a House subcommittee Wednesday for this first time since his confirmation in December, Republicans and Democrats argued anew over the IRS´s admission last May that it improperly targeted Tea Party groups. On Sunday, Obama told Fox News the controversy came out of "bone-headed decisions" in the agency´s Cincinnati office and "not even a smidgen of corruption." "This committee

Although Congress still has the “power of the purse,” it chooses not to withhold funding whenever President Obama tries to do an end-run around it by issuing executive orders because members of both parties are content with passing all-or-nothing spending bills that take this constitutional option off the table, says Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah). CNSNews.com asked Lee why Congress has not used its constitutional authority to rein-in such presidential overreach. “Yeah, Congress has not done that, and it’s a source of great frustration to me," the Utah Republican replied. "A lot of it has to do with the fact that

White House press secretary Jay Carney assured ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl that President Obama did not “misspeak” when he said that there was “not even a smidgen of corruption” in the IRS targeting scandal. President Obama made the remark to Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly in their Super Bowl Sunday interview. Carney told Karl that there were “at least 20 news organizations” that agreed with an independent Investigator General who said, back in May, that he found no evidence “that anyone outside of the IRS” participated in any “inappropriate targeting of conservative, or progressive for that matter,

WASHINGTON — Conservative Republicans on Wednesday ruled out any immigration legislation in the House this year, insisting that the GOP should wait until next year when the party might also control the Senate. House GOP leaders unveiled their broad immigration principles last week that gave hope to advocates and the Obama administration that the first changes in the nation’s laws in three decades might happen in the coming months. Immigration legislation is one of the top priorities for Obama’s second term. But several of the conservatives were adamant that the House should do nothing on the issue this year, a

The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing. (SNIP) The new law will free people, young and old, to pursue careers or retirement without having to worry about health coverage.

The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, became law almost four years ago. It became operational last Oct. 1. Yesterday, Feb. 4, 2014, the ACA may well have been dealt its death blow. The Congressional Budget Office released a major study of the government’s budget and its effect on the overall economy over the next 10 years. In dull bureaucratic language, it delivers a devastating analysis of the inefficiencies, ineffectualities and problematic social costs of ObamaCare. The one-two punch: Virtually as many Americans will lack health coverage in 10 years as before the law was passed — but 2 million fewer

There are few medical procedures feared more than a colonoscopy. But what if there was another way to screen patients for colon cancer that´s much less intrusive? Now there is: The PillCam, an ingestible camera that takes high-speed photographs as it works its way through the digestive system and helps doctors spot polyps and other early signs of colon cancer was just cleared by the Food and Drug Administration. President Obama, outlining his push Tuesday to bring high-speed Internet access to more U.S. schools, said Americans should demand the same level of technology in learning facilities as they do in coffee shops. “In a country where we expect free Wi-Fi with our coffee, we should definitely demand it in our schools,” Obama said in Adelphi, Md., highlighting $750 million in new commitments from private companies to put digital learning labs in schools. Under his plan, the Federal Communications Commission will also spend $2 billion to connect 20 million students to wireless technologies.

Seven seconds of total silence. I don´t believe Woody Allen is a child molester. But when I read Dylan Farrow´s letter in The New York Times accusing her adoptive father of sexual abuse, I didn´t think she was making it up. I believe it´s a scenario she´s come to believe after it was implanted in her impressionistic head as a kid. On March 18, 1993, after a Connecticut prosecutor declined to charge Allen after a three-month investigation of the same allegations, I interviewed him at his Fifth Ave. apartment. If they — we live in a country where there should be free agency.
