Why the right uses a ‘different
standard’ for the Obama family

MSNBC.com, by Morgan Whitaker

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 3/29/2013 10:22:44 AM

Even before Iowa Congressman Steve King criticized Sasha and Malia Obama’s spring break trip, the vacation had provided fodder for the far right media. Few people understand that better than Salon.com’s editor-at-large Joan Walsh, who found herself part of the controversy. Walsh became the target of right-wing media attacks after she weighed in on the issue, criticizing the commentators who were targeting the first daughters. Her major complaint: “For decades it’s been a convention of journalism that you don’t write about the minor children of presidents unless they’re involved in an official capacity.

Comments:
Very heavy sigh. These fools will never acknowledge the blatant abuse of taxpayer money by the grifters in the White House, especially when 0bama blames everything on sequestration. "It’s going back to this idea of the ‘uppity Negro,’ isn’t it."??? The idiot Toure once again rears his ugly head. Don´t read the comments. It will only cause your blood pressure to rise to unhealty levels.

Yet further proof of why liberals are the most virulently racist people in US society. They cannot see any human being without seeing the color of his or her skin. Racists, pure and simple, and virulent racists at that because the issue for them is so all consuming.

They -the Leftists and their useful idiot camp followers- just aren´t going to get it. We might as well accept that. They are not going to get it because they do not want to get it. Leftist fantasy ideology requires certain fundamental assumptions about opponents in order to sustain itself. The basic assumption of course is that all criticism of Leftists and their policies is the result of bad motives, ignorance, or both. This means that such criticism does not need to be considered seriously.

I suppose most normal Americans know perfectly well that issues raised about Obama family vacations are about the hypocrisy of claiming dire consequences from the sequester, cutting off White House tours, and releasing dangerous illegal aliens and blaming Marine training accidents on lack of money, while continuing to indulge in personal and public travel and "vacations." It is not about the Obama children. It has nothing to do with race. Joe Biden just blew a cool million or more in a 5 Star hotel in Paris.

It is tempting to believe that those who try to make such concerns about taxpayer funds a question of race or abuse of the presidential family actually KNOW better and are being disingenuous. No doubt this occasionally happens. But I am afraid that in the great majority of cases they sincerely believe what they are saying - which is, for me anyway, far more alarming.

For pity sake. It´s not about the girls, it´s not because they are black. It is because we are in monetary trouble. We have been asked to have skin in the game, we have been asked to give the government more, we are still dealing with overwhelming unemployment and under employment, our pay has flat lined and obamacare will reek more havoc on our budgets. We are trying to make due with less. So while so many Americans are taking a buzz saw to their budgets the obamas go on about their business of spending other people´s money on themselves. Would it be too much to ask that the residents of our WH set a small example that they understand what so many of us are going through? This is not a black and white issue. Why are dem operatives so anal about labeling any disagreement as racist? Because they have no other argument.

Seems like it was the White House that said enough funds were available for Secret Service protection for the Obama daughters to take their vacation, just not enough for White House tours by common everyday citizens.

MSNBC is unable to ever see flaws in Obama´s actions.

No, actually it is the Left who uses a different standard for conservatives. The media stalked the Bush daughters and printed anything bad they could find (and there was not much bad behavior from these two girls). It is not only a good thing, but it is prudent to point out how this 0bama family spends excessively while the average American is really struggling right now. 0bama´s million dollar golf outings, Michelle´s expensive, lavish and luxurious vacations, and now the girls going first to an expensive Atlantis resort and then on to a plush ski vacation. I find their behavior appalling and quite disgusting; they have no shame, rather just a huge feeling of entitlement. Michelle has always had this "Look at me" syndrome, and it really is not pretty.

U.S. employers added jobs at a solid pace in March in the latest sign that the economy is rebounding from a weak stretch brought on by a harsh winter. The Labor Department says employers added 192,000 jobs, slightly below February´s total of 197,000. Employers also added a combined 37,000 more jobs in February and January than previously estimated. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.7 percent. But a half-million Americans started looking for work last month, and most of them found jobs. Immigration reform advocates are fond of citing broad support for their cause. But in fact the coalition behind the Senate Gang of Eight comprehensive reform bill is fragile and loosely cobbled together. How could Big Labor and the Chamber of Commerce and the tech world and Big Agriculture all unite behind one bill? Very tentatively. It wouldn´t take much to break the coalition apart. And if that happens, the effort to enact comprehensive immigration reform could blow up, not just for the moment, but for some time to come. And there are signs that is exactly what is occurring now.
