Marriage Decline: The disintegration of the nuclear family — particularly in the African-American community — and the rise in fatherless homes have greater societal implications than gay marriage, yet few pay attention. The debate over gay marriage has taken center stage with two cases, one involving California´s Proposition 8 which bans it, and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) which bars federal agencies recognizing the validity of same-sex marriages in the states where they are legal, now before the U.S. Supreme Court. We have argued that the civil purpose of marriage is not
Excellent article, and I have been screaming this for forever. The institution of marriage hasn´t been destroyed by gays; it has been severely undermined by the cavalier treatment of heterosexuals over the last 50-60 years. The illegitimacy rates are staggering.
When a nation has turned its back to God and His laws to celebrate style over substance, it no longer sees blessings like marriage as valuable gifts and the boundaries of marriage as good. Consequently, God gives the nation over to the lifestyle it craves and allows it to reap the bitter fruits of what it has sown.
In the 1830´s, French visitor observed as he toured the vigorous young, cheerful, friendly families, citizens living in th USA, ´´America is great because America is good. When America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.´´ Will America remain, ´´good?´´
The WWII generation, as some say our, ´´Geatest Generaion,´´ saved & delivered peace, Life, Liberty, even joy and a fresh start to the Pursuit of Happiness for the USa and indeed, individuals liberated from tyranny throughout most of the planet. America was secure from then on. ...What next?
What will later be said of the now tenured and ´elected´ unrepentent radical statist militants of the 1960s & 1970s, the self-centered & aptly named, ´´Me,´´ generation of disrespectful ingrates still determined to destroy & plunder all the blessings attained through personal sacrifices of principled past generations, blessings passed on of personal freedom, equality, benevolences, good will and opportunities greater than have ever been known before in all of history & in any country which has ever existed? What will be said of such a generation of divisive social/political connivers? They should be ashamed of stealing future generations´ inheritances of freedom & hope for their own futures, especially since these radical lefty/lib pols themselves inherited such a promising future from America´s courageous & patriotic, ´´Greatest Generation!´´
The lefty/lib/dems´ statist agenda envolves their micro-management of every area of every human life, (which is BIG Governmental tyranny!), and is thus so contrary to life in America the Beautiful.
"We have argued that the civil purpose of marriage is not and never has been to reaffirm the love of two people for one another.
Nor is marriage primarily a business arrangement.
This country and healthy societies around the world and throughout history have given marriage between a man and a woman special legal protection because of the recognition that it is the one institution that ensures the society´s stable future through the orderly procreation and upbringing of children".
The Church has as much interest in recognising in law gay marriage as it has ion according similar recognition to best friends with benefits.
Political Correctness: Its force structure decimated by sequestration and budget cuts, the Marine Corps considers exchanging its proud and honored look for hats similar to the gendarmes who direct traffic in Paris. If sequestration´s annual spending cuts continue past this year, the Marine Corps will lose 8,000 in troop strength, Commandant Gen. James F. Amos told the Defense Writers Group in June. But those who remain will at least be fashion-conscious if a proposal for changes in their dress headgear goes forward. Men and women in the Marines
Junk Science: Al Gore, patron saint of climate fraud, argues with Australia´s prime minister that its brushfires are not caused by warming and that the record shows the koala bear, like the polar bear, is quite safe. They were the largest Australian bushfires in a populous region in recorded history, consuming half the state of Victoria, claiming 12 lives and destroying an estimated 1 million sheep and thousands of cattle. And they occurred in February 1851 during one of the coldest years on record. Bushfires have been part of Australian life for centuries
Energy: The Golden State´s governor has signed legislation that regulates but does not ban the technology that has sparked an energy boom nationwide — and which may yet restore the state to solvency. If any state were to ban hydraulic fracturing, commonly referred to as fracking, the process that releases oil and natural gas trapped in porous shale formations, one would think it would be California. Gov. Jerry Brown, who leads the government in a state that hosted Solyndra and embraces endangered bird-chopping wind turbines,
Scandal: A deadly battle involving grenades between a drug cartel and Mexican police has added to the toll of lives taken with weapons trafficked by suspects that U.S. officials watched but did not stop. The same Obama administration officials responsible for letting thousands of weapons walk into Mexico and right into the hands of drug cartels in Operation Fast and Furious also passed on several opportunities to arrest and prosecute an arms smuggler who was busy supplying the cartels with hand grenades. This according to a report by Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News, the one reporter
Corruption: The crash-prone government health-care site asks applicants if they want to register to vote as they try to sign up for ObamaCare. By sheer coincidence, a plurality of the uninsured are likely Democratic voters. Call it Motor Voter on steroids — the piggybacking of voter registration to an otherwise unrelated government function. Those trying to navigate Healthcare.gov, a website that looks and functions as if designed by the department of motor vehicles, are being asked if they want to register to vote just in time for crucial 2014 midterm elections
Regulation: From lost jobs to fewer hours to premium hikes that would make a loan shark drool, Barack Obama´s home state is a case study in why the first rule in health care reform, as in medicine, should be to do no harm. The president and his cohorts in the media have long accused Republicans of being out of touch with ordinary people. Remember the concocted story about President Bush the elder being so out of touch he was unfamiliar with supermarket bar-code scanners? But it´s President Obama who´s out of touch with ordinary people
Health Care: In a stunning admission, our Health and Human Services secretary admits ObamaCare is part of the fundamental transformation of America away from a free market in anything to a nanny state on steroids. Maybe Kathleen Sebelius was being sarcastic, or maybe she thought it might be a good way to reach the "young invincibles" who feel they had better things to do with their money than enroll in ObamaCare. But her recent appearance on Jon Stewart´s show on Comedy Central went about as well as ObamaCare´s train wreck of a rollout.
The Shutdown: Federal closure threatens to bar priests not on active duty from conducting services on military installations or from ministering on base, and they risk being arrested if they attempt to do so. The latest Obama shutdown shame is the news that, until it´s over, none of the families of those killed in Afghanistan can expect to receive the $100,000 death gratuity promised to reach them within 24 to 36 hours. Grieving families also cannot expect the military to cover all the usual costs of family travel to meet their loved ones at Dover Air Force Base where they return
Global Warming: Temperatures have flat-lined for 15 years, the Arctic and Antarctic are gaining record amounts of ice, most computer models have been wrong, yet the networks are buying into the alarmists´ narrative. Earth might not have a fever but the media do, judging by their hyperventilating about the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change´s quite fraudulent report (Fifth Assessment Report or 5AR) released Sept. 27. One network — CBS— even turned a blind eye to the truth and claimed that temperatures "could have risen by more than 200 degrees." This fiction came from CBS´ Ben Tracy
A confirmed atheist when he was 15, C.S. Lewis came around to believing in God when he was 31. "I knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all England," he wrote in his autobiography, "Surprised by Joy." Soon he embraced Christianity. A lecturer at English universities, Lewis became a superstar author by explaining his faith and weaving it creatively into novels. Books including "Mere Christianity," "The Screwtape Letters," "That Hideous Strength" and the series "The Chronicles of Narnia" have sold a total of 200 million copies, but he wasn´t always popular.
Energy Revolution: America´s natural gas boom threatens Russia´s economic strategy, an expert says, leaving it with few alternatives to rescue its economy while threatening to shatter its energy stranglehold on Europe. Russia´s abundance of energy resources has long allowed it to use energy both as a foreign policy weapon and as the bedrock of the Russian economy. Whenever energy prices rose, Russia benefited and its neighbors often felt the restraining leash of dependence on Russian energy, particularly natural gas. Government-controlled energy giant Gazprom was in such a strong position it could demand decade-long contracts
Health Reform: Those icons of voter fraud have been tasked and paid to guide an unwilling public through the ObamaCare enrollment process — while getting access to confidential information on thousands of people seeking health insurance. Somehow it does not surprise us that among the conductors on the train wreck known as ObamaCare will be leftist agitators from President Obama´s beloved Acorn, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. They´ll get up to $48 an hour as "navigators" to lead us through the dead-end ObamaCare maze. As Mathew Vadum reports on the American Spectator blog
I have never been much of a conspiracy theorist. For me it was always Oswald by himself from the Texas School Book Depository and nothing in the intervening fifty years has disabused me of this notion. For the most part, I’m an Occam’s Razor kind of guy — the most obvious explanation is likely to be true. (Snip) To put it bluntly, Occam’s Razor has moved. Things that were once possibilities now seem almost certainties to me. Principal among those is that Obama’s academic records are perpetually unavailable for a reason — and that reason is most likely that they reveal
One of President Obama´s chief political assets has been his ability to excite young people like almost no politician in history. But the days of America´s youth fawning over the president are over. A new Harvard University Institute of Politics poll released Wednesday confirms what other surveys have shown in recent months: Millennials have soured on Obama so much this year that their opinion of him largely mirrors the American public´s. Even though Obama does not ever have to face another election, he should be worried about the findings for a couple of reasons, which we will dive into momentarily.
A stunning new study unveiled on Fox News´ Hannity finds that President Barack Obama’s White House calendar records just one face-to-face meeting between Obama and his Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in the more than three-and-a-half years leading up to the disastrous Obamacare launch. The startling statistic comes from a new Government Accountability Institute (GAI) analysis of Obama’s own official White House calendar, as well as the Politico presidential calendar, and raises new questions about Obama’s executive leadership and management throughout the implementation of his singular legislative achievement. More alarming still, the president’s schedule lists 277 private
[Video] President Obama on Wednesday declared that addressing income inequality would be the focus of “all” of the White House’s efforts “for the rest of my presidency.” In a sweeping address that touched on raising the minimum wage, investing in infrastructure and ending tax breaks for the wealthy, Obama warned that the American economy has become “profoundly unequal,” declaring economic mobility the “challenge of our time.” “The combined trends of increasing inequality and decreasing mobility pose a fundamental threat to the American dream, our way of life, and what we stand for around the globe,” he said in an hour-long
Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways. Here’s the statement from Martin Bashir, via email: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon
Amid an array of “knock-out” attacks against a number of Jews in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, a city councilwoman pointed to the success of the Jewish community as triggering the aggression. Councilwoman-elect Laurie Cumbo emphasized that while she “admire[s] the Jewish community immensely” for its work ethic, black teens may see it differently. “While I personally regard this level of tenacity, I also recognize that for others, the accomplishments of the Jewish community triggers feelings of resentment, and a sense that Jewish success is not also their success,” Cumbo, who was recently elected, wrote in a letter. Chief among the issues
America is facing a wave of strikes by its fast-food workers on Thursday a day after Barack Obama warned that inequality in the USA had soared to the point that it now posed "a fundamental threat to the American dream". Low-paid workers in McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and other fast-food outlets in 100 cities across America were due to start rolling strikes to protest at the low level of America´s $7.25 (£4.45) federal minimum wage. The strikes are the latest part of a mushrooming publicity campaign for higher wages among those working so-called "McJobs", with fast-food restaurants seen as a
The world premiere of the “Ballad for Trayvon Martin for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet” is set for tonight. Princeton University’s director of its jazz-studies program composed the work in honor of the Florida teen. Anthony D. J. Branker told the Star-Ledger that the piece is intended to “be a form of healing” after Martin’s death and the controversial court case that followed it. The ballad, which will be performed by the university’s official orchestra and jazz ensemble, is intended to be a tribute to victims of racial violence, Branker explained. He hopes that the performance will be “one that speaks to
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
The president put in his ask to Disney CEO Bob Iger at a private meeting with entertainment moguls during his Nov. 26 visit to Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation. [snip] If you have any doubt as to how much of a sports junkie Barack Obama is, check in with the entertainment moguls who attended a private briefing with the president Nov. 26 before his speech at Jeffrey Katzenberg´s DreamWorks Animation campus in Glendale. At the end of the conversation -- which touched on a myriad of topics, from piracy to Iran -- Obama revealed what´s at the top of his bucket
A new report from the Texas-based Quorum Report, published by longtime Texas journalist Harvey Kronberg, says that House Speaker John Boehner plans to push amnesty legislation through the House, after the primary filing deadline for candidates. The move would prevent Tea Party from challenging GOP lawmakers who support amnesty in 2014. Scott Braddock reported on Tuesday that “in recent weeks, various Texas business interests have told Quorum Report that Boehner has been telling them that he will start holding immigration votes not long after the filing deadline has passed.”
Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) on Tuesday reintroduced legislation that would require the government to study the most practical ways of taxing drivers based on how far they drive, in order to help fund federal highway programs. Blumenauer´s bill, H.R. 3638, would set up a Road Usage Fee Pilot Program, which he said would study mileage-based fee systems. He cast his bill as a long-term solution for funding highway programs, and proposed it along with a shorter-term plan to nearly double the gas tax, from 18.4 cents to 33.4 cents per gallon. "As we extend the gas tax, we must also think about
