| Buenos Aires, Argentina - Pope Francis surprised the owner of a kiosk in Buenos Aires with a telephone call to send his greetings and explain that he will no longer need a morning paper delivered each day. Around 1:30 p.m. local time on March 18, Daniel Del Regno, the kiosk owner’s son, answered the phone and heard a voice say, “Hi Daniel, it’s Cardinal Jorge.” He thought that maybe a friend who knew that the former Archbishop of Buenos Aires bought the newspaper from them every day was pulling a prank on him.

Full disclosure - not Catholic, not religious.
I love this man. The moment I saw him I started tearing up. He is the closest man to the person we read that Jesus was. This story is so sweet and simple and says tons about him. This Pope is not about the trappings of the Church, instead he is pure goodness. I believe he will do enormous good for the world at a time when the world needs it, needs him. It is his smallest gestures that show people how to be.

sorry this isn´t news, this would be the common decent thing to do, but it just isn´t news. The catholic press is again drumming up the humility of what this man they elected to an office that doesn´t exist in the Bible. Sorry not into religious leaders who have to show their humbleness and get it broadcast around the world.
The only person Jesus commented on their humility was a woman giving 2 mites in secret because she was giving in secret.

I seriously doubt the pope called up the press like he was some Obamaton and told them this story for PR purposes. Remember: The press hates him and is trying to smear him as a dirty warrior, a charge that has left egg all over their faces.
The pope sets a good example and does so without telling anyone. That inspires others to follow his example, but more important, gives High-Livin´ leaders who claim to be ´of the people´ the willies. Cristina Fernandez and Obama are quite nervous about these stories because they remind people what a big contrast their own slimy example is.

What a sweet story. I love our new Papa Francis! And #8 Saint Peter, the first Pope, is featured quite heavily in the Bible... He was crucified in the spot where the Vatican now stands and every pope since has followed him in direct succession. It´s one of the many comforting, awe inspiring, and faith affirming things about the Catholic Church. The American Revolution and the Holocaust aren´t written about in the Bible but that doesn´t mean they didn´t happened.

#14 Word. I think this guy is shaping up to be John Paul III. The freshness and spontaneity, the genuineness of this pope is a huge breath of fresh air to all of who have been suffering under socialist regimes whose leaders who have arrogantly and regally flaunted to us their means of living large at our expense. Chavez, Cristina, Obama, they are all alike and this pope is different. It makes me think maybe there really was a divine hand in the selection of this pope.

Speaking in Ohio this week, the Youngstown Vindicator reports, veteran investigative journalist Bob Woodward recalled an “unflattering” story about a dining experience with former Vice President Al Gore. According to the local paper, Woodward “told an unflattering, but amusing story about sitting next to former Vice President Al Gore at a dinner, saying being with him was taxing.” “To be really honest, it’s unpleasant,” the journalist added of his experience with Gore. The AP says most of the pardons were granted to criminals convicted of low-level offenses, though not all were small-time offenders: Most were for people convicted of selling or possessing drugs. However, Robert Phillip Brown was convicted of murder. He was paroled in 1996 after serving 15 years in prison. ... It’s no secret that Egyptian slavery is as old as the pyramids. It’s also common knowledge that Barack Obama’s ancestors owned slaves. So it’s really no surprise that he helped usher in a radical Egpytian regime that is restoring slavery. According to the AP Egypt’s new constitution has dropped its ban on slavery: Omissions of certain articles, such as bans on slavery or promises to adhere to international rights treaties, were equally worrying to critics of the new draft, who pulled out from the panel before the vote. The Obama administration declined to criticize Egypt’s constitution despite its slavery clause.
