| AMMAN, Jordan — President Barack Obama says his administration is working with Congress to provide Jordan with an additional $200 million in aid this year. Jordan’s economic troubles have been made worse by the influx of more than 450,000 refugees fleeing the civil war across the border in neighboring Syria. The Syrians are crowding refugee camps in Jordan and overwhelming aid agencies run by the important U.S. ally in the Middle East. The United States already is the largest single donor of humanitarian aid for the Syrian people. Obama said Friday

This is one place I where I am in agreement with Obama. We have to help keep Jordan stabilized. I´d rather send it to Jordan than to Egypt, but too late.

It really is time to STOP all foreign aide. Why are the American tax payers responsible for this outrage. Jordan has oil and is part of the cartel, they can provide money for their people. We send hundreds of billions of dollars abroad, and all we do is make the leaders of these countries richer, while their people still live in squalor, not a good return on our money. It is time we took care of HOME first, the liberals are always complaining about the poor, well use that money and setup ways to employee those on food stamps and welfare so they can become productive citizens instead of lazy TV bon bon eating wanting more and more for doing nothing. Rant off

Obama and the congress who support him are guilty of aiding the Arabs, Muslims, Pakistani´s, Palestinians and every culture East of OUR shores...Has this ´president´ taken a look at OUR OWN people such as the American Indians, the people in Appalachia, the people in the backwoods of Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, and every State in OUR OWN country that needs help to bring them out of insane poverty??? Why is this so called president so hell bent on helping everyone else with OUR Billions of taxpayer dollars and not give a damn about OUR OWN poor??? The Jordanians are going to vote for him are they??? What a disgrace he is. Not worthy of wearing that flag pin he sports...must be to cover a hole in his jacket...

The proposed aid money is designed to help the 450,000 and growing Syrian refugees sheltered by Jordan. This form of assistance is what the US has always done, from the 1948 Berlin Airlift to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. It´s part of the DNA that makes up USA.
The problem with such aid is that it is often seized by local thugs who either claim credit for the aid or who sell the food, tents, medicines and other basics for large profits. And, since even $200 million doesn´t last long when feeding/housing/treating 450,000 to surely 1 million by June, we get blamed for being miserly.
If our involvement to Syria is limited to programs like this rather than a military incursion and long-term occupation to keep Muslim sects from slaughtering each other, then this is a positive step. Remember, the religion of peace loves death and destruction.

At a Democratic National Committee fund raising event in Atherton, California Thursday morning, President Obama declared that the United States government still needs to get its fiscal house in order: We still waste money in all kinds of things that don´t work, and we have the capacity to shift those dollars into things that do work and that will grow our economy. And we can reduce our deficit, stabilize our debt, and do so without sacrificing the kinds of investments that are going to be required to grow. During his remarks, the president spoke of the

One of the first political issues negotiators must tackle in crafting an immigration reform bill is among the most important: what to name it. It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. The wrong name, he warned, could doom a good bill. “If there´s not a

The psychiatrist for suspect, James Holmes, had warned campus police that Holmes was dangerous and homicidal a month before the shooting took place. Lynne Fenton even told the police that Holmes had begun to stalk and threaten her, and yet no action was apparently taken: A University of Colorado psychiatrist told campus police a month before the Aurora

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school.
