| The Chicago Public Schools’ plan to close 53 schools and 61 buildings, mostly in black neighborhoods, has some West Side residents vowing to fight the Emanuel administration until the end. As WBBM Newsradio’s Mike Krauser reports, to hear some tell it on the West Side, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is a racist liar who doesn’t care about the kids. And they’re just getting started. “I don’t see any Caucasians being moved, bussed, or murdered in the streets as they travel along gang lines, or stand on the steps of a CPS school,” said activist Wendy Matil Pearson as opponents

Isn´t it amazing - - that everyone in the world is a racist - -

Nope - - no racism there. They judge people only by the content of their character.

This community is ripe for the picking.
If just a few people with kind and brave hearts stepped in, worked hard and really made a difference in these schools they could wins some hearts and minds for a generation.

I would venture to guess that the reason the schools being closed are in predominantly black neighborhoods has more to do with property tax receipts than with the race of those who attend those schools.

Chicago’s a mess. While the parents protest outside the school, kids yell from the windows... so what’re the teachers doing while the kids are yelling?
When the tax base is declining, enrollment is declining and the only thing going up is teacher compensation, this is what you get, no matter if a Democrat machine is running the town or not.

At least the school board is offering a solution. Critics are calling names. Many of the people are worried about kids now having to go into different neighborhoods controlled by hostile gangs. How backwards is that? Gangs are winning?
It is far cheaper to move a teacher than it is to operate a 20-40% capacity school with utilities, etc.

The schools being closed are half empty, besides they are failing to teach. No Child Left Behind was supposed to close failing schools after a few years. I did see one mother interviewed who supported her kids being bussed to a better school where they might learn. I would guess unions are the cause of all the protests, if the parents undertood the facts they would want the best for their kids just like every parent.

it is terrible what these families have to live in. they need to clean up their culture, and can begin by insisting that black fathers be black dads.
my neighborhood is full of dads, and a gang would last about two minutes before every dad would be out in the streets kicking their butts.

What I find ironic and funny is that everyone here is yelling that elections have consequences and that these people will all vote for the same guy again because he has a "D" after his name. Why is that funny? Because we all do the same darn thing! We keep voting for the same stupid RINOs and the same stupid inept professional politicians because they have an "R" after their name and often just because they are an "incumbent". We do the same stupid behavior!! When are we going to stop voting for the Grahams, McCains, Boehners, Bushes, etc.?? Yes, we made a few changes in 2010, but not enough. Of course, it doesn´t help when the competition (J.D. Hayworth) is a worse devil than the one we want to replace... We need to vet our candidates better and then vote for someone OTHER than "incumbent".

Enjoyable to watch Rahm Emanuel being called a racist liar for his incompetence and criminal DemocRAT behavior. After all, didn´t Rahm tell the Black Gangs to just stop it? DemocRAT mayors always run a city into the ground. But sadly, like others have said, the Lo-Fo voters would quickly put him right back into office, even a racist White Guy, because he has a "D" after his name. The voters are mentally ill.

Real estate tax bills will be on the way tomorrow for Cook County residents, many of them containing the cold, hard truth about where we stand. And it isn’t pretty. It’s a dubious distinction for the new class of Illinois lawmakers being sworn in Wednesday in Springfield. It’s the first time in years that three sitting lawmakers simultaneously face criminal charges. Representatives Derrick Smith and LaShawn Ford and state Sen. Donne Trotter, all Chicago Democrats, face varying charges. Smith is under federal indictment in a bribery case. Ford is accused of bank fraud. Trotter is charged with trying to bring a gun onto a plane.

Bank robbers had a busy year in 2012. The FBI said robbers have hit 218 banks in the Chicago area as of Dec. 31, compared to 115 in 2011. “Close to double what we had in the prior year,” said FBI Special Agent Joan Hyde. WBBM Newsradio’s Brandis Friedman reports, while people often look for a way to explain a spike in bank robberies, Hyde said it’s not often tied to a greater issue, like the economy. “That just doesn’t play out. Typically the bank robbers are motivated by their need for money for a drug habit, or gambling debts,” she said.

Chicago - The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Saturday said that President Obama’s reelection was “a great victory,” but that it would be incomplete with a reconstruction of urban America and an investment in the communities where the blacks who voted overwhelmingly for the president live. “We’re happy and full of pride,” in the president’s reelection, Jackson told the crowd at the Saturday morning forum at Rainbow/PUSH headquarters, 930 E. 50th St., “but our houses remain raggedy … our schools remain closed.” Despite attempts at voter suppression in states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida,

Absent significant pension system reforms, it would cost the city an extra $1.5 billion a year beginning in 2016 to start the process of restoring financial health to its pension funds, aldermen were warned Monday. If those costs kicked in, services would be cut, taxes would soar or both. Continuing to rely solely on property taxes to cover pension costs would result in a tripling of the city levy, said Ald. Patrick O'Connor, 40th, chairman of the Workforce Development and Audit Committee. The tale of looming financial woe came at a six-hour hearing as part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —
