Jesse Jackson criticized the state takeover of Michigan´s largest city on Friday, calling on citizens to fight back as the city is days away from being controlled by an emergency financial manager. "It´s time for a major mass civil action in the city of Detroit," Jackson said in Detroit amid wild applause. City Councilwoman JoAnn Watson and Jackson are leading government, clergy and labor leaders in announcing plans Friday to challenge the constitutionality of Michigan´s new emergency manager law. I´m sure this would just turn into an excuse for mass looting -- except I understand that there isn´t much left in Detroit to loot these days.

It a bunch of these people practicing their ´´mass civil action´´ went around and broke a bunch of windows and set buildings on fire, they would just look like most of the existing buildings in Detroit.

I guess nobody greased the Revvvvuuunnnnd Jackson´s hand before taking this action, and he is going to show them now...

Where was the good Rev when Detroit needed his help. Nowhere in sight, no money in it for him. But when a Repub intervenes to help save whats left, up pops Rev Jackson.

Racist whites are to blame.

They let the blacks vote incompetent blacks into office knowing they couldn´t do the job.

It was a well thought out racist conspiracy to make blacks look bad!

Good ol´ Jesse...fulfilling his calling to keep the ´N´ word alive and applicable...

Jesse used to like to brag about ´spitting in white people´s food´ as a waiter at the Poinsettia Hotel in Greenville, SC - his ´home town´.

Every time he spoke at a local school - racial attacks followed. Guess which race was doing the ´attacking´?

Too bad the sickle-cell overlooked ol´ Jesse.

Revrum "Luv Chyiil" Jackson needs to lead the action. Get rakes, shovels, spades, and hoes. Wheelbarrows and dumpsters and clean the place up. Torch the drug houses. Put the whole place place on curfew. Everyone has to be out of bed by 7 AM. Stand at attention on the curb til you work as directed.

I understand the frustration regarding the takeover. but the city should not seek any assistance (or at least continued) from the state if they want to continue to (mis)manage their own affairs. No state takeover but no state assistance either. After the cameras leave, Jackson will jet set to the next news event he can capitalize on.

Ya know Jess, if you got together with all the union thugs in Detroit, the City Council, the welfare bums, the too lazy to work types, you know what you would have? A target rich environment. Of course I mean that he could then get on his soapbox and preach to all of them about hard work, taking personal responsibility and getting out to clean up the mess that they created.

As a metro Detroiter, I do not believe much will come of this. There are always going to be a percentage of true believers to the revrum´s racist gospel, but increasingly Detroiters are saying enough is enough. Fix our problems. Make the buses work. Turn on the streetlights. Arrest the criminals. Jackson may be able to shake some people into the street for a faux protest, but it will not be many, and will not last long.

I suppose you could make the argument that if you are willing to elect racist morons to run your city into bankruptcy you are entitled to go down with the ship. However Detroit´s economy in many ways impacts the rest of the State and we didn´t have a vote. The last thing Detroit needs right now is this race hustler and con artist coming here to gin everyone up and insist that Detroit be allowed to crash and burn. Human stupidity never ceases to amaze me.

FTA:
In a press conference featuring Jackson held at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in Detroit, protesters of the new law that begins Thursday and Gov. Rick Snyder´s appointment of Washington, D.C., bankruptcy attorney Kevyn Orr as Detroit´s emergency manager said emergency management "usurps democracy by taking the voting right of more than 2.3 million Michigan residents."

The revrun may have let the cat out of the bag on this one. The latest count I can find on the population of Detroit is 706,585 and that one is two years old. How many votes did the won get in Michigan? Who´s counting the votes in MoTown? Yeah, I know, silly question.

Once a five-star hotel and luxury apartment block, the 45-storey so-called “Tower of David” skyscraper that looms over the Venezuelan capital of Caracas is now home to 3,000 people, and thought to be the world’s tallest slum. Intended to be a jewel in the crown of a shining new financial district, the incomplete building was abandoned in around 1994 when its developer died. By 2007, squatters had seized what had become a huge concrete skeleton. The new CEO of Mozilla, the not-for-profit organisation behind the Firefox web browser, declined on Tuesday to offer a rationale for his 2008 donation in support of California´s gay marriage ban, insisting he would remain in post despite a backlash over his appointment. Giving interviews for the first time since he was announced as the new boss of Mozilla on 24 March, Brendan Eich repeatedly refused to be drawn on his stance on gay rights amid a widespread row over his $1,000 donation in support of the successful Proposition 8 ballot measure. “So I don´t want to talk about

Wearing striped clothing could help protect holidaymakers from mosquito bites, scientists have found after solving the mystery of why zebras are black and white. It is a question which has plagued biologists for centuries but now a team from the University of California, Davis, believe zebras’ unusual monochrome markings evolved in order to repel biting insects, such as horseflies and tsetse flies, which tend to avoid striped surfaces. (Snip) Varying explanations for zebra stripes which have been proposed since Alfred Russel Wallace and Charles Darwin debated the problem 120 years ago, have included a form camouflage, assisting escape from predators

Charlotte, NC — Some are crying foul over new regulations from the U.S. Army regarding women´s hairstyles. Thousands have signed a White House petition urging President Obama to order the Army to re-consider the regulations. The reason? Supporters say they´re "racially biased" against black women. The update to the regulations were made public Monday. Among the new, updated rules that have upset so many are the ones that clarify the hairstyles that are "Army appropriate. While the Army has banned dreadlocks since 2006, the new regulations clearly define specific hairstyles like twists, a popular style that black women

New York — Chick-fil-A widened its lead over rival KFC as the No. 1 chicken chain in the U.S. last year. Preliminary data from food industry researcher Technomic shows that Atlanta-based Chick-Fil-A held the lead because its locations are much busier, even though there are far fewer of them. Chick-fil-A first surpassed KFC as the top chicken chain in 2012. KFC is still much bigger globally. KFC, owned by Yum Brands Inc., has been struggling in recent years, despite a variety of new menu items like boneless chicken pieces and snack cups designed to fit

Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Now, as if by magic, they have their number. Somehow. All along, the administration has touted false numbers of enrollees. All along, the administration has neglected to admit that Obamacare is

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – President Obama compared the Republican budget plan to a "stinkburger" or "meanwich" during a speech here Wednesday, using a series of zingers in an attempt to strike a contrast with the GOP on economic issues in an election year. In a speech to an enthusiastic crowd of 1,400 at the University of Michigan, Obama repeatedly mocked Republican ideas about how to improve the economy, as he touted his own proposal to raise the minimum wage. Obama, who visited the local Zingerman´s deli before the speech, said that Republican proposals to cut taxes for wealthier Americans and

The North Carolina State Board of Elections has found thousands of instances of voter fraud in the state, thanks to a 28-state crosscheck of voter rolls. Initial findings suggest widespread election fraud. 765 voters with an exact match of first and last name, DOB and last four digits of SSN were registered in N.C. and another state and voted in N.C. and the other state in the 2012 general election. 35,750 voters with the same first and last name and DOB were registered in N.C. and another state and voted in both states in the 2012 general election. 155,692 voters

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night. Others were already insured, including millions who lost coverage when their existing policies were suddenly

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, criticized last year by a Vatican official for her support of abortion, received a rosary Tuesday from President Obama that was blessed by Pope Francis. Mrs. Pelosi told reporters of the president’s gift after having lunch with Mr. Obama at the White House. The president met with the pope last week at the Vatican. “I was happy to receive a rosary blessed by Pope Francis,” she said. “It means a great deal to me.” Last year, a Vatican official in Rome said that Mrs. Pelosi should be denied communion. “This is a person who obstinately,

Big changes could be just down the road for North Carolina drivers. A proposal is in the works that would change the state tax system to charge drivers by the mile, instead of at the gas pump. The proposal would be to charge a half cent per mile for cars, which would generate almost $500 million in annual state revenue. A driver who travelled 15,000 miles in a year would pay about $75. "Basically you pay per the mile. It´s treating transportation as a utility, much like your water and sewer," said Larry Goode, with the Institute of Transportation Research and

Sources on the ground in Benghazi during the 2012 terror attack are pushing back hard on former CIA acting director Mike Morell´s testimony on Capitol Hill, where he defended his role in shaping the administration´s narrative and claimed politics were not involved. As part of Morell´s testimony on Wednesday, the former acting and deputy CIA director acknowledged that he overruled the guidance of the top CIA officer in Libya at the time. That official told Morell the attack was not an "escalation of protests," but Morell said he had to weigh that against analysts who concluded the opposite. He ultimately went

With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.

Sarah Palin continues to act in ways that confirm some of the more negative things said about her. For example, she’s taken to Facebook to attack the most recent budget plan by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.(Snip)Whatever differences Ms. Palin may have with the Ryan plan–and perhaps she’ll take the time to offer an actual critique of if rather than a Facebook entry with lots of upper case words–it’s hardly a joke.
