Florida voters overwhelmingly would chose former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for president in 2016 over the state’s two highest profile Republicans, former Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio, a new poll shows. Mrs. Clinton leads Mr. Bush by a margin of 51 percent to 40 percent, and bests Mr. Rubio 52 percent to 41 percent, according to the results of a Quinnipiac University poll of registered voters released Thursday. Mrs. Clinton, a Democrat, also is viewed much more favorably than either man; 62 percent of the survey’s respondents view her favorably
Comments: Read it and weep. That push for passing new immigration laws sure has helped. s/o Who are those 25% of Republicans who approve of Clinton??
Can´t just be name recognition in Florida, #3. Rubio and Jeb Bush both have decent name recognition in Fla. Hillary is a 3-5 favorite to crush these two. GOP better think about nominating a woman or be on the wtong side of history in 2016. (Not Palin, however; not unless we want to help Hillary win by 45 states, including Alaska)
Maybe most see it as a situation where you have the dems wanting amnesty for illegals, and repubs wanting amnesty for illegals. Faced with such a choice, why not just go with the dem, especially if you are a woman, are young, unmarried, or a member of some other demographic, or just maybe because you see no difference between the two?
This reminds me of the Monty Python skit with candidates presenting themselves from the Silly Party, the Very Silly Party, the Very Very...etc. with each candidate in even more outlandish clown costumes. That goes for dems, esp. Hilary, and extends to all those who would vote for her. Very very silly.
What we are seeing is the MSM already campaigning for HRC. It is called propaganda and the longer it goes on, the more effective it is. Four years out the MSM is already trying to make HRC seem like the foregone winner, esp to the stupid American people. Any negative info on HRC will be suppressed like it is with Obama and all positive or fake positive info will be highlighted. This will go on for the next four years.
Facelifts, drying out of the booze won´t erase the actions of this one and her rapist by 2016. Who knows, she could have the flu again, fall and have another concussion and then another blood clot. Hubby on statins--research the dangers of those. 4 years is a looooooonnnnnnng time when it comes to the klintoons.
Florida has become home to liberal transplants from the chilly northeast - where the cold first froze their thinking ability and now the Florida sun has finished off the process. Does Florida have any way to confirm whether these people are voting in two different states?
Lofo voters tend to conflate Hillary Clinton with Bill Clinton. That´s a big mistake. Hillary, to whom bipartisan triangulation is a cussword, is Obama with lighter colored skin, a much less pleasing vocal timbre, and an almost unbelievably wider butt. There´s not a dime´s worth of difference between these two destructive leftists. C´mon Benghazi!
By the time of the 2016 Presidential Campaign, there´s going to be a new Cable Channel which is going to tout the conservative position 100%. They´ll have lots of time to go back and look up material of Hillary´s huge push for national health insurance, her insisting of Bill´s appointing Lesbians to major positions in the governments, and now today the hints of her being in that category herself, get testimony of Military personnel posted at the White House who insisted of their lowering of their eyes when approaching her in the halls, the constant reporting of how she and Bill "loathed the Military", of how she and Bill went on CBS "60 Minutes" the night of the Super Bowl and saying she wasn´t one of those married women who bakes cookies and stands by her man, then does just that in the sex scandals plaguing Bill. Lots and lots of material for political ads.
I haven´t seen the internals on this poll but Florida is awash right now in folks from up north (snow birds), many from the east coast. They are often rude, use foul language in normal speech and are programmed progressive in their politics. Oh I´m sure there are some nice people too, I just haven´t met them yet.
#33 Your paraphrase should credit Donald Rumsfeld when he was trying to explain the deaths of so many soldiers and Marines because of IED attacks. We and our equipment were simply not prepared for them and it cost many lives unnecessarily. Semper Fi
The gray hairs among us do not trust these young whipper snappers, especially Paul Ryan who wants to push grandma over a cliff with his criticism of Social Security. There is lots of gray hair in Florida. I was there once and I also noted that there were a lot of curly heads with dark complexions there. Rand and Rubio are looked at as clones of Paul Ryan. Dementia and low IQ´s are abundant there. We are not so smart either if we don´t avoid mis construed political speech. If he even sounds like unsmiling Paul Ryan he will not get Florida´s vote.
It seems to this 50´s and 60´s Catholic school boy, this Vietnam Vet, like the end of my world as I once knew it.....70% of us were white when I was growing up, and so patriotic, and now they are boldly predicting that we will be the minority in a few years. Then along comes Satan Barry and the Mooch for eight years...then the Hildebeast and the Pasty BJ boy for 8 more? I can´t take any more of being so surrounded by stooges, idiots, and liars!
KILL ME NOW!!!!!! I am SO ready for Civil War 2...
More than a year after the Benghazi terrorist attack that led to the murder of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, and three other Americans, there will be a public airing of the review process that was intended to quell all questions about U.S. government failings that could have led to the massacre. Instead, serious questions remain unanswered. The House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee hearing this Thursday, September 19, will feature Amb. Thomas Pickering and Adm. Thomas Mullen, who headed the Accountability Review Board (ARB), which was convened by then Secretary Hillary Clinton to determine the adequacy of security, availability of intelligence,
The Syria researcher whose Wall Street Journal op-piece was cited by Secretary of State John Kerry and Sen. John McCain during congressional hearings about the use of force has been fired from the Institute for the Study of War for lying about having a Ph.D., the group announced on Wednesday. “The Institute for the Study of War has learned and confirmed that, contrary to her representations, Ms. Elizabeth O’Bagy does not in fact have a Ph.D. degree from Georgetown University,” the institute said in a statement. “ISW has accordingly terminated Ms. O’Bagy’s employment, effective immediately." O’Bagy told POLITICO’s Kate Brannen in
The escalting war between MSNBC’s Al Sharpton and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly took an unexpected turn last night when O’Reilly revealed that he had donated $25,000 to Sharpton’s charity to help pay for Christmas gifts and dinner for underprivileged families in Harlem. Earlier today, Sharpton offered some choice words for O’Reilly in an interview, but this afternoon on his show he really let the Fox host have it. Sharpton pointed that like O’Reilly, he never mentioned the donation until now. “Bill doesn’t realize it, but this story actually reveals what kind of person he is… Bill gave that money privately
Fox TV Studios has pulled out of talks to produce a 4-hour-long NBC miniseries about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The two sides had previously been in contact over producing Hillary, starring Diane Lane as the eponymous politician. But Deadline reported this afternoon that “with the two sides far apart, and were never able to bridge the gap on the deal terms.” “The economics of TV movies and miniseries are challenging, which is why very few production companies take on such programs these days,” explained Deadline. “That includes NBC’s own studio, Universal TV, which would not produce NBC’s longform projects, including
It’s clear by now that if conservatives are ever going to even begin to roll back the overt, ongoing and worsening lawlessness of the Obama administration, they’re going to have to go over, through, or around the Republican party first. The GOP “leadership,” as presently constituted, is nothing more than the lesser half of the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Government, content to munch its cud and occasionally low in the direction of constitutional propriety, and then resume its own modest but lucrative role in fertilizing the “two-party” system. As evidence, consider Bob Costa’s piece today on Senator Ted Cruz, and the
Speaking Thursday at a joint appearance with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that there were “many al Qaeda leaders now operating in Syria”—where President Barack Obama decided two months ago to provide military support to rebel forces fighting alongside al Qaeda to overthrow the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Asad. Asad is a member of the Alawite sect, which is a derivative of Shiite Islam; the Syrian rebels are predominantly Sunni, and al Qaeda is Sunni. According to the CIA, Assad’s Alawite sect represents no more than 16 percent of the Syrian population, while 74 percent
Egypt´s president on Friday suggested US President Barack Obama´s condemnation of a deadly crackdown on Islamists may "encourage violent armed groups". "The presidency fears statements not based on facts may encourage violent armed groups," it said in a statement responding to Obama´s condemnation of Wednesday´s carnage when police moved to disperse Islamist protest camps. "The presidency appreciates US concern for developments in Egypt, but it wished it could have clarified matters," said the statement published by the official MENA news agency. "Egypt is facing terrorist acts aimed at government institutions and vital installations," the statement said.
The Washington Post´s article detailing the fourth amendment abuses by the NSA got some push back from the administration who attempted to "edit" the article before publication. The internal audit referenced in the article was obtained by the WaPo from Edward Snowden. The details of the audit indicated repeated and growing privacy violations by the NSA, violations which included obtaining thousands of American citizen´s communications records and using methods of information collection that were later deemed unconstitutional by a court. The Post was able to interview John Delong, NSA director of compliance for the article and they were initially
There´s much talk about Chris Christie as the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 (yes, already). Christie is certainly gearing up for a run, and has begun by attacking potential GOP rivals. But while moderate Republicans like Christie for 2016, he is their version of what Rick Perry was for conservatives in the 2012 race: a locally successful governor whose attributes will not stand up well on the national stage. Perry had much to recommend him as a national contender: staunch conservatism on most policy issues, and an economic record that even liberals would find attractive. But his Texas
Hillary Clinton has worked her way back in the news by making racially-charged remarks to the American Bar Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco. There is, she claimed, an ongoing “assault on voting rights.” But the only “assault” going on is a liberal assault on the truth about efforts to protect the integrity of our election process. Clinton’s polemic claims fit nicely within a calculated political strategy adopted late last year. At a December meeting in Washington, D.C., three dozen of the most powerful liberal advocacy groups providing money and manpower for Democratic candidates hammered out three agreed-upon objectives for
CBS ace Sharyl Attkisson is tweeting about the status of her Freedom of Information Act request for materials related to White House activities related to the night that four Americans died in the terrorist attack on the US facility in Benghazi, Libya. President Obama has tried to defend his health care plan lately by criticizing Republicans for trying to roll back ObamaCare without offering any alternatives -- despite the fact that Republicans have offered several. In a White House news conference a week ago, the president said: "They used to say, ´well, we´re going to replace it with something better.´ There´s not even a pretense now that they´re going to replace it with something better." Moments later, Obama elaborated, saying "they used to say they had a replacement. That never actually arrived, right? I mean, I´ve been hearing about this whole replacement thing for
Obamacare is imploding. But thanks to the government shutdown, everyone is talking about the implosion of the GOP instead. The shutdown drama has distracted from the fact that Obamacare’s debut is worse than many realize — and it threatens the fundamental viability of the law itself. The administration claims the Obamacare online exchanges crashed because the Web site got more than 8 million hits in the first week. Please. You know how many people visit Amazon.com every week? More than 70 million. The difference is: 1.) Amazon seldom crashes, and 2.) on Amazon, people actually buy something.
Every week during halftime of Sunday Night Football, Bob Costas gets to recite a personal essay about whatever hot topic strikes his fancy. This Sunday he chose the Redskins name, and spent a few minutes offering his commentary on the subject. Here is his statement in full. With Washington playing Dallas here tonight, it seems like an appropriate time to acknowledge the ongoing controversy about the name, “Redskins.” Let’s start here: there’s no reason to believe that owner Daniel Snyder, or any official or player from his team, harbors animus towards Native Americans, or chooses to disrespect them. This is
A New York Times investigative article based on two dozen interviews with industry insiders and confidential Obama Administration documents reveals that the catastrophic $500 million Obamacare rollout "has deeply embarrassed the White House" and has the technology companies involved "publicly distancing themselves" from the Obamacare fiasco. "These are not glitches. The extent of the problems is pretty enormous," an insurance executive who participated in Obamacare conference calls told the Times. "At the end of our calls, people say, ´It´s awful, just awful.´" The Times says those closest to the three-and-a-half year-long building of Obamacare, like embattled Health and Human Services
When I have described the well-considered, coherent political and economic strategies of the conservative white South, as I have done here, here and here, I am sometimes been accused of being a “conspiracy theorist.” But one need not believe that white-hooded Dragons and Wizards are secretly coordinating the actions of Southern conservative politicians from a bunker underneath Stone Mountain in Georgia to believe that a number of contemporary policies — from race-to-the-bottom economic policies to voter disfranchisement and attempts to decentralize or privatize federal social insurance entitlements — serve the interests of those who promote them, who tend to be
Ted Cruz’s “aw shucks” act is wearing thin. The Republican senator from Texas likes to pretend he is above the fray of Washington bickering, focused on large issues and too big to engage character assassination. But the reality is that Cruz is the Republican king of nasty attacks. He explodes rhetorical nuclear bombs on his opponents, only to feign outrage when his victims respond in kind, or in many cases, with relative spitballs. Take his defund Obamacare effort. The tactic to eliminate President Obama’s health care law had zero prospect of success, which Cruz undoubtedly knew despite what he sold the conservative
The American Indian leader spearheading the campaign to change the name of the Washington Redskins is not a legitimate member of the tribe he leads, according to a New York State Assemblywoman, but rather an Obama crony who is raking in casino money and paying back only small stipends to his tribe members. Oneida Nation Representative Ray Halbritter, who is also the CEO of Oneida Nation Enterprises, is not recognized in his position by the Grand Council of Chiefs governing the Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy. Halbritter is not a legitimate member of the Oneida tribe, Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney told The Daily
“I sit here all day trying to persuade people to do the things they ought to have sense enough to do without my persuading them,” Harry Truman once lamented. “That’s all the powers of the President amount to.” As usual, the plain-speaking Truman got it right: presidential power is the power to persuade. Too bad the current occupant of the White House has never learned this basic lesson. Barack Obama’s refusal to negotiate with the Republicans in Congress on the government shutdown is proof once again that he doesn’t understand
The Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system allows recipients of government food stamps to purchase goods using a digital card with a set spending limit, but for a few hours over the weekend, that limit disappeared for many users visiting Walmart stores in Louisiana. Walmart and local police in Springhill and Mansfield confirmed to CBS affiliate KSLA that officers were called into the stores to help maintain order Saturday as shoppers swept through the aisles at two stores and bought as much as they could carry. Xerox, which hosts some of the infrastructure used by the EBT card system, told
Wal-Mart (WMT) stores in Springhill and Mansfield, La., saw a stampede and a shelf-clearing rush Saturday after a computer glitch for food stamp recipients led to benefit cards allowing unlimited purchases. Police were called as entire shelves were being cleared out, until the glitch was fixed and low-income residents using the cards were no longer allowed to make purchases. "Do the Republican and Democratic parties do an adequate job of representing the American people, or do they do such a poor job that a third major party is required?" A record 60% of Americans now yearn for a third major party, according to Gallup. Independents, unsurprisingly, are most likely to favor a third party, but a majority of self-described Republicans say yes, too. But what do they mean by that "yes"? Obviously, they mean many different things. Some yearn for a third party representing the Michael Bloomberg center: fiscally conservative and socially liberal like the New York City mayor. But here´s
President Obama has embraced “Obamacare” as the de facto name of his signature health care initiative. But the commander-in-chief believes that if the law ends up being a wild success, the moniker will disappear. “My suspicion is what is going to happen is when it’s working and everybody is really happy with it, Republicans are going to stop calling it ‘Obamacare,’” the president said Tuesday in an interview with New York´s WABC TV station. Key parts of the law — formally known as the Affordable Care Act — went into effect at the beginning of the month, but the roll-out has been marked
It was bad enough when those teabagging Republican terrorists killed the First Lady’s Twitter account. Now they’ve taken her lovely garden hostage! Reuters: In the famous White House kitchen garden, tomatoes are rotting on the vine. Herbs have gone to seed. And the sweet potatoes – a favorite of President Barack Obama – have become worm food. It’s another impact of the government shutdown, one that only the fox and the many squirrels that live on the White House grounds could love… “Due to the shutdown, garden maintenance has been reduced considerably and only being watered as needed,” a White House official confirmed, speaking
