A father-daughter dance — in jail
Washington Post, by Emily Wax

RICHMOND — The girls ages 6 to 16 sit in order of size in the drab lobby of the Richmond City Jail, their glittery shoes swinging back and forth. “I don’t like it here,” says Jhaniyika Morman, 6, who covers her eyes, smudging her blue eye shadow and pointing toward the jail’s visitation booths, where inmates are separated from their visitors by thick glass. “I’m nervous. I hope he recognizes me,” mumbles Alexis Atkins, 9, who has her blond hair curled into long ringlets and keeps zipping and unzipping her hot-pink purse. Down the hall, through several gates

I have no problem with this. I do have a problem with the dismissive comment quoted in which someone says a father daughter dance is too Ozzie and Harriet and should not exist today, The statistic that over fifty percent of children are raised by single mothers is a shocker also. Why should we make changes because our lifestyle is now in the minority? Just because there more of them than of us does not mean that normal is now abnormal.

This is a nice story, maybe this will encourage some of the dads to quit crime.

But this is unbelievable....FTA "In October, school officials in Cranston, R.I., banned the dances — along with mother-son baseball games — after the American Civil Liberties Union filed a complaint citing discrimination against single mothers, as well as gender stereotyping."

And the Girl Scouts now have "Significant Adult Male" dances. How sad is that?

Let´s keep on trashing American traditions until there is no one left who even remembers. As to the city jail having a dance, that is well and good EXCEPT there are hundreds of state prisons in Virginia. My bet is not a single one of those is having a felon prom!

This is the sort of conversation that I imagine must have taken place before Jhaniyika was born.
Woman - What should we name her?
Man - Something nice, normal, traditional - Janet, Betty, Jane, Judy...
woman - Way too white! Let´s give her a proud ethnic name that will assure her that her resume will be ignored by most Human Resource Managers in the U.S.!
Let´s call her Jhaniyika!

Something that bonds a father with a daughter is good.

Something that bonds a father with his daugher´s mother is good, too.

It´s marriage. Real, man-and-woman, honest-to-God, for better and for-ever marriage.

There is no substitute.

Remember that the "definition of marriage" really matters. And accept no substitutes.

Sorry to be the party pooper, but I don´t believe Richmond inmates are allowed to have belts in jail because they either use them to hang themselves or harm the jailers.
The necktie is iffy too.

The photo is about like the Wookie´s wh photos. The tablecloth is purple and both girls have purple in their dresses and he has an Easter egg yellow shirt vs say red.
Then there is the problem with smuggling contraband in their cute little purses.

The Tampa, FL driver behind “Redneck Roadrage/Instant Karma,” a viral YouTube video in which an aggressive driver gets his sweet, sweet comeuppance, spoke to WTSP about the incident, and said the video had led to an arrest of the driver. Authorities were able to identify the driver from the video. He has been charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene, and, best of all, not wearing a seatbelt. “Honestly, looking back, I feel kind of bad for laughing,” said the driver, who declined to give her name. “But at the same time, it’s kind of funny.” “None of us are good drivers. A 43-year-old man was swept out to sea Sunday during a baptism ceremony at a coastal park in northern Santa Barbara County. Two other people were also dragged into the ocean but returned to shore during the early morning service at Rancho Guadalupe Dunes Preserve. But an extensive search by emergency teams failed to find the missing man by nightfall, the Santa Maria Times reported. Jesus Christ Light of the Sky, the Santa Maria church that put on the ceremony, performs similar baptisms two or three times a year, Pastor Mauro Cervantes told the paper. Most of the 25 people

The Obama administration is threatening public safety by deliberately hampering immigration law and releasing aliens with criminal records, according to a new review of internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement data. A Center for Immigration study to be released Monday and obtained in advance by The Daily Caller, found that last year ICE reported nearly 722,000 encounters with illegal or criminal immigrants. But ICE officers filed immigration charges against less than 195,000 aliens. “According to ICE personnel, the vast gap between the number of encounters reported and the number of aliens put on the path to removal exists because officers are not permitted

Speaking about the mystery for the first time, the wife and daughter of Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah said the 53-year-old pilot had been distracted and withdrawn in the weeks before the aircraft’s disappearance – and refused pleas to attend some marriage counselling sessions. Three weeks after Flight MH370 went missing with 239 crew and passengers aboard, investigators in Malaysia believe that someone – possibly the captain – deliberately steered the Boeing 777 off course after communications were cut.

As a story, it doesn’t attain to the level of the worst of the cheesy Biblical movies made in the fifties. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook. Obamacare supporters are taking a bit of a victory lap today after yesterday’s administration announcement that six million people have signed up for private plans under the law, equaling the revised projection put out by the Congressional Budget Office after the botched launch of the exchanges last October. It’s a weak cause for celebration, given that success, according to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, was originally "at least" seven million people getting covered under the law by the end of March. And as an Obamacare factoid, the six million sign-ups figure just doesn’t tell us all that much

Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.
