Obama turning to executive power to get what he wants

| WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama came into office four years ago skeptical of pushing the power of the White House to the limit, especially if it appeared to be circumventing Congress. Now, as he launches his second term, Obama has grown more comfortable wielding power to try to move his own agenda forward, particularly when a deeply fractured, often-hostile Congress gets in his way.

Comments: Yes, and just where is Congress while all of this is happening? We have a neutered conglomerate, asleep at the switch. Pleasel split wide headlnes.

Is there any evidence that Obama was ever skeptical of pushing the limits of executive power, or was it all political calculation by his handlers?

Congress is part of the checks and balance in the gov´t,it doesn´t give the prez the right to overstate the power of the exe. branch. The Founders know power freaks like Obama would come along so they set things up this way.
In sort of a blind taste test, people polled support conservative ideas over Obama´s so there´s no true demand for Obama´s supposed solutions. All this really means is republicans have poor salesmen.

Don´t you know who I am? Obama and Congress are both dysfunctional and not very good at hiding the fact. The logic of the article is backwards.

obama´s not "turning" to executive power. That´s a lie. His abuse of power started Jan. 20 2009, and he never looked back.

If John Boehner had any guts or integrity, he would push the House to refuse to fund a single one of these illegal power grabs.

It´s all our fault. He doesn´t want to do these things. We force him. Darn it.
If it weren´t for the TEA Party, if we´d all just realize how brilliant he is, how he wants better for us - his way, if we´d all just go along with his plans..... we´d be happy and taken care of.
We´d have nothing of our own, every moment of our lives would be scripted and force-followed, but hey - we´d be taken care of.

As The Book of Ecclesiastes tells us, "there is nothing new under the sun."
"It may be necessary to use methods other than constitutional ones."..."We are no longer going to ask for the land, but we are going to take it without negotiating."

#2, I would say the front-people for the pubbies walk, talk and smell a lot like libtards; that´s their problem.
It´s also why they aren´t arguing with the democrat-libtards about the direction, just the speed, with which they run this Republic into the ground.

On Thursday´s CBS This Morning, open Obama supporter Gayle King and Norah O´Donnell repeatedly prompted liberal historian Doris Kearns Goodwin to equate the newly-reelected President Obama to Abraham Lincoln. O´Donnell wondered, "Is there a lesson for Obama now in his second term with Lincoln?" King hyped how Obama "sought out" the author and asked, "What did he want to know from you?"

U.S. Rep. James P. Moran’s son Patrick resigned from his father’s campaign after being caught on camera earlier this month appearing to give advice on how to commit voter fraud to a conservative video journalist. Project Veritas, the group headed by conservative activist James O'Keefe, circulated the video Wednesday. Patrick Moran, who had been serving as his father’s field director, said in a statement that he never took the person videotaping him seriously and was simply humoring him.

"This country does not just succeed when just a few are doing well at the top," Obama said, according to a rush transcript of the remarks. "It succeeds when the middle class gets bigger. Our economy does not grow from the top-down, it grows from the middle-out. We do not believe that anybody is entitled to success in this country. Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. The report cited United Kingdom diplomats, saying Pyongyang was demanding the U.S. president personally call Kim Jong-un as one of the conditions to relieve the current conflict at hand. Itar-Tass also quoted the U.K.’s Sky News as saying North Korea currently has eight nuclear warheads.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

Funicello, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987 and became a spokeswoman for treatment of the chronic, often-debilitating disease of the central nervous system, died at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, Walt Disney Co. spokesman Howard Green said. HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.
