Yes, Let´s ´Bail In´ Depositors

Politicians today face many challenges that are unrewarding to tackle, so no wonder many prefer to fulminate about too big to fail. Too big to fail, or TBTF, is a problem about which it is safe to fulminate, since neither politicians nor the public understand anything about it, and even less what to do about it. Hence Sen. Carl Levin and others in Congress tirelessly flogging a trivial J.P. Morgan JPM -0.63% "whale" scandal. Hence the bizarre Eric Holder, our attorney general, suggesting in congressional testimony that he went easy on criminal prosecution of too-big-to-fail banks—and instead of being

Would liberals support splitting up the federal government? It is too big to fail. The founders knew this. That is the reason for states, which liberals do not acknowledge.

This week´s presidential radio address will be delivered by the mother of a victim of the Newtown massacre, the AP reports. "The White House says the mother of a Newtown shooting victim will deliver the weekly presidential radio and Internet address," reports the AP. "President Barack Obama typically gives the talk, focusing on a topic that´s in the news or a policy the White House is pushing. "This week, Obama has asked Francine Wheeler to deliver the address instead. Wheeler and her husband, David, lost their 6-year-old son Ben in the December schoolhouse shooting in Newtown, Conn."

The grand jury report in the case of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 72, is among the most horrifying I´ve read. "This case is about a doctor who killed babies and endangered women. What we mean is that he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable babies in the third trimester of pregnancy - and then murdered these newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors," it states. "The medical practice by which he carried out this business was a filthy fraud in which he overdosed his patients with dangerous drugs, spread venereal disease among them with infected instruments,

PYONGYANG, North Korea -- As the world watches to see what North Korea´s next move will be in a high-stakes game of brinksmanship with the United States, residents of its capital aren´t hunkering down in bunkers and preparing for the worst. Instead, they are out on the streets en masse getting ready for the birthday of national founder Kim Il Sung - the biggest holiday of the year. The festivities leading up to Kim´s birthday come amid fears that North Korea may be planning to test launch a new missile in

In a commentary carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the communist country lashed out at Tokyo´s standing orders to destroy any missile heading toward Japan, threatening such actions will result in a nuclear attack against the island nation. If Japan executes its threat to shoot down any North Korean missile, such a “provocative” intervention would see Tokyo — an enormous conurbation of 30 million people — “consumed in nuclear flames”, KCNA warned. “Japan is always in the cross-hairs of our revolutionary army and if Japan makes a slightest move, the spark of war will touch Japan first,” the report added.

America´s Economic Disconnect

The state of our economy has become a constructed fantasy created largely by mainstream media (MSM) narratives. Media accounts of economic performance over the past four years have ranged from confusing to inaccurate to flagrant happy talk and spin. Rationalization and selective reporting have created economic ´good´ news and false ´hopes´ where none existed or should exist. The techniques employed have included consistently biased memes, factual omission, factual commission, and even misdirection. Often such narratives suggest that improvement would occur tomorrow... or next week, or next year. The effect on Americans has been a growing separation between

Listen up, Evangelical Christians, Mormons, Catholics, and Orthodox Jews. You read the news. An unnamed instructor with a U.S. Army Reserve unit put together a slide show in which he lumped you together with the KKK, Al Qaeda, and Hamas. Keep your heads up; that buzzing sound overhead might be a drone coming for you. Down the road, the military´s growing conformity to the American left´s worldview and values may have dire ramifications for the military, national security, and the nation. The further "leftization" of the nation´s armed forces will only exacerbate the deep divisions in American society,

Pressure is growing Thursday afternoon on a liberal super PAC in Kentucky accused of surreptitiously recording a strategy session held by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Jacob Conway, the Jefferson County Democratic Party’s executive committee member who originally accused Progress Kentucky of making the recording, told NBC News he was on his way to talk to the FBI about the allegations. And the group’s treasurer confirmed he had quit his position after the audio was published. “At this time based on advice of both friends and counsel,

President Barack Obama talked about "climate change" with the U.N. secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, today at the White House. Via the pool report: On North Korea: “We will continue to try to work to resolve some of those issues diplomatically even as I indicated to the Secretary General that the United States will take all necessary steps to protect its people and to meet our obligations under our alliances in the region.” Obama said they talked about Middle East peace, where there is at least a window of opportunity for both Israelis and Palestinians to get back to the peace table.

DOHA, Qatar — When a handful of Taliban emissaries flew into Qatar on an American plane in 2010, the Obama administration hoped they would help negotiate a peace deal that could stabilize Afghanistan and allow the United States a graceful exit. Three years after that secret arrival, the Taliban officials remain idle and their political office here remains unused. “They are just living here enjoying the air-conditioning, driving luxury cars, eating and making babies,” one Afghan diplomat in Qatar said. “It’s all they can do; they have no work to do.”

WASHINGTON -- A U.S. military intelligence agency believes that North Korea has learned how to mount nuclear bombs on ballistic missiles, a U.S. congressman said Thursday, citing a classified report. But the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) still questions whether the secretive nation has mastered the sophisticated technology, according to Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO). In a congressional hearing, he quoted the report as saying, "DIA assesses with moderate confidence the North currently has nuclear weapons capable of delivery by ballistic missiles; however the reliability will be low."

In 2011, the journalist Mara Hvistendahl published Unnatural Selection: Choosing Boys Over Girls, and the Consequences of a World Full of Men, detailing the societal effects of sex-selective abortions that target women the world over and resulted in the absence of perhaps more than 100 million girls who by now should have been born. But Hvistendahl soon learned the downside to uncovering what many believe to be a shocking trend in human rights offenses: people will want to do something about it. And so she lashed out, declaring that “anti-abortion activists

Whatever big-busted fantasies crawl around the ex-congressman’s delirious noggin, la Weiner made his next goal as clear as the skin of the wholesome college students he craved: He relishes being Mayor Weiner. Within the next few decades, carbon emissions could cause global temperatures to rise between 4 and 11 degrees Fahrenheit, melting ice caps and causing sea levels to rise. The price of crops like coffee and chocolate will skyrocket, and countless cuddly animals around the globe could be wiped out. And yet, a lot of people find it hard to really care about climate change. But don´t be fooled: Climate change will affect you. Here´s a brief sampling of ways that warmer temperatures will suck the fun out of your life: 1. Your flights will be more turbulent

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
