For One Chicago Police Officer,
The Job Became Too Much

WBBM-TV [Chicago, IL], by Mike Parker

Original Article

Posted By:ScarletPimpernel, 3/19/2013 8:03:25 PM

The Chicago Police Department is one of many around the nation that now accepts that law enforcement officers, like America’s combat soldiers, suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. CBS 2’s Mike Parker profiles a family that believes one of their own — a third generation cop — was afflicted with PTSD when he took his own life last month. [Snip] Toward the end, he told his family he was “overwhelmed” by what he was experiencing on the job: the bodies, the violence and especially crime’s effect on children. He told his family those kids had no way out and no hope.

Comments:
How terribly sad. The burden put on our law enforcement officers is enormous; I´m sure may of them struggle with the same issues as this officer.

This situation is truely an oppertunity for the conservatives.

I like the TV show "The First 48".

It shows the hopelessness and despair that democrat politics have wrought on these people.

These people this policeman served to protect are completely disconnected from any sense of normal civilized existance.

They all have multipul kids, no wives.

20, 30, 40, 50 years old and their only means of support is dealing drugs, theft and the government.

They kill their childhood friends for a stinking cell phone.

The new (again) narative for the conservatives is they must show the little people that they care, They can sure make a serious impact by starting in these neighborhoods and telling a story these people have never herd....the truth.

If Screwy Lewy Farakhan can see the oppertunity in these places, srely the nservatives can.

This problem though will take generations to fix.

I´m a gun owner, but would note that in most jurisdictions, a police officer has to be armed 24/7.
And for a few, that turns a temporary bout of depression into a death. I knew one Syracuse Police officer whose wife abandoned him, after he worked extra jobs for several years to build and pay off a new house. She and her boyfriend got the house, free of mortgage, the officer shot himself.
Add in the stress of the job and...

The wife should sue Twinkle Toes for causing her husband´s death. The police are on their own because he ignores the problem.

The Seattle Seahawks have revealed that a good part of their defensive strategy at the Super Bowl came from the fact that they were able to decode Peyton Manning´s hand signals on the field. Controversial corner back Richard Sherman said that he and his fellow defenders cracked the code that the Denver Broncos quarterback was using, meaning that they knew exactly what to expect for each play. ´We knew what route concepts they liked on different downs, so we jumped all the routes.

They say dogs are a man´s best friend, but it seems they have a certain attachment to babies, too. In a compilation of YouTube videos posted by Funnyplox TV, family pets show off their inner guard dogs as they go to great lengths to protect the littlest members of the family. Whether they´re watching over the babies while they nap or making sure they don´t hurt themselves, these caring canines seem to possess an innate loyalty to their human friends.

A reader who requests anonymity sent in this account of her investigation into a curious asterisk on her health care insurance bill. I am one of the people who actually is able to "keep" my previous plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) after I was "cancelled" and then told I could actually keep it. That being said, here is another little gem that was buried in ObamaCare. When my most recent bill (premium due) arrived from BCBSIL, there was an asterisk and an "explanation":

Upon migrating to the United States many years ago, I embraced my new home and left the past behind. Never could I imagine that, at some point, that past would become relevant. But now, I am compelled to talk about it again. In the USSR, we had state-controlled media which shaped the narrative entirely. Our founder, Vladimir Lenin, was portrayed as a noble, charismatic, and smart man -- the champion of the underdog (the working class), the seeker of equality, defeater of the rich.

It has been my contention that President Obama’s deal with Iran on nuclear weapons had little to do with stopping Iran from obtaining them, and much to do with his desire to achieve detente with the mullah-run Islamist regime. As I put it here: Obama isn’t motivated, as Israel and Saudi Arabia are, by a strong desire to keep Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. That’s not the purpose of this deal. If it were, Obama would have held out for far more than what the mullahs gave him.

Gonorrhea and syphilis are on the rise in the U.S., mostly in men who have sex with men, a trend the government said is linked to inadequate testing among people stymied by homophobia and limited access to health care. The rate of new gonorrhea cases rose 4 percent in 2012 from the year before, while syphilis jumped 11 percent, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said today in a report. Rates for chlamydia, the most common of the bacterial sexually transmitted diseases, gained less than 1 percent.

Virginia is the worst state in the U.S. for burglars, according to a new nationwide study by a security systems company. According to statistics compiled by SimpliSafe Home Security Systems, Virginia homeowners are 46 percent less likely to be burgled than the national average. The study compares the legislative codes of all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, and contrasts maximum and minimum burglary sentences, as well as maximum fines, as well as other factors. According to the study, Virginia has both the highest maximum fine for burglary--$100,000--as well as the toughest maximum prison sentence--life in prison.

ObamaCare will change the American healthcare marketplace in unintended ways. It will have notable impact on the dental field, through mandated pedodontic coverage. Few people enjoy visiting the dentist; however, dental care may become more problematic. Within a few years, private dental care with a trusted and known practitioner may be limited. In the practice of medicine, a notable trend has been the movement of doctors toward employee status rather than owner/partner business practices. This relationship lessens the working hours that burden younger practitioner´s families and provides economic stability at a lower salary.

A nuclear arms race is now arising in the Middle East, starting with an Iranian nuke, then a Saudi and Egyptian one. Nobody knows the end game. Obama´s biggest legacy may be worldwide instability for years to come. This administration is coming to an end. If you take away its corruption and thuggery, its constant scapegoating, its weird cast of characters, its astronomical spending, its drone killings of terrorists who were supposed to be dead last year, and its healthcare debacle -- everything comes down to imperial overreach.

There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,

The weirdest thing about John Kerry´s weekend speech on climate-change—other than the fact that this is the same guy who in 1997 voted to forbid the U.S. from signing the Kyoto Protocol—is that it begins by quoting something Maurice Strong said at the U.N.´s 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "Every bit of evidence I´ve seen persuades me that we are on a course leading to tragedy." Maurice who? Mr. Strong, a former oil executive from Canada (he was Pierre Trudeau´s pick to run state-owned Petro-Canada in the mid-1970s), was for many years the U.N.´s ultimate mandarin.
