State Dept. ´Would Take Very

Breitbart´s Big Peace, by Dr. Susan Berry

The State Department said on Friday that the U.S. government “would take very seriously” a request from the Organization for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) that it monitor the papal election in the Vatican. Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said she did some “digging” on this issue following Associated Press reporter Matthew Lee’s question on Thursday regarding whether the Obama administration believed that the election of Pope Francis had met international standards. Lee’s exact question was as follows: Does the United States regard the election of the Pope to--that

Matthew Lee is an ignorant fool to ask such a silly question.
Victoria Nuland is an pompous, arrogant arse to provide that response.
The Catholic Church has been selecting popes for two millenia; what makes these upstarts think they can monitor tha Cardinal´s Conclave. They can´t even monitor honest elections in the US.
How about we let the Vatican monitor the next Dem primary?

For one thing, aren´t you the very people who promote separation of church and state, to the exclusion of God in public life? And for another thing, Vatican City is an independent City State. Congressional Republicans on Sunday pressed their investigation into the Benghazi attacks, suggesting depositions of high-ranking officials and more whistle-blowers testifying amid further questions about why then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was not thoroughly interviewed about the issue. Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, told “Fox News Sunday” that more potential and self-proclaimed “whistle-blowers” might come forward after three of them – career State Department foreign service employees – testified last week before the House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee.

The House Ways and Means Committee this weekend released a timeline of interactions with the IRS and a list of 10 questions it will ask agency officials in an upcoming hearing -- following the agency acknowledging Friday that it targeted conservative political groups during the 2012 election season. “The IRS absolutely must be non-partisan in its enforcement of our tax laws,” committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., said late Saturday. “The committee …will hold the IRS accountable for its actions.” The tax-collecting agency on Friday acknowledged it flagged the groups for additional review to see

I’ve been wondering how the IRS was going to determine whether taxpayers were complying with the individual mandate contained in Obamacare. I needn’t have wondered. The IRS is a bureaucracy and what do bureaucracies adore almost as much as taxpayer-financed trips to Vegas for conferences? Forms, of course. When Obamacare’s individual mandate takes effect in 2014, all Americans who file income tax returns must complete an additional IRS tax form. The new form will require disclosure of a taxpayer’s personal identifying health information in order to determine compliance with the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate.

Recent events suggest that the 44th president may not be immune to the phenomenon that historians call the “second-term curse.” Not four months after his ambitious inaugural address, President Obama finds himself struggling to move his legislative agenda through an unbudging Congress. And over the past week, two flaring controversies — one over his administration’s handling of the killing of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans in Libya, the other over Internal Revenue Service employees targeting tea party groups for special scrutiny — have dominated the discussion in Washington.

The floundering and willfully dishonest enterprise that is NBC News has apparently found its replacement for the disgraced Steve Capus. According to The New York Times, Deborah Turness, the current head of Britains ITV News, will become the next president of NBC News and the first woman to run a television news division. For the last decade or so, ITV has increasingly become a tabloid-style television outlet, broadcasting soap operas and reality television. Since NBC News right now reflects nothing close to reality, Turness might be just what that division needs.
