RNC Report Calls for Fewer Presidential Debates, Mostly Ignores Moderator Unfairness

| In a new report released today, the Republican National Committee owned up to a number of mistakes made during the 2012 election cycle. While the central party admitted there were too many presidential debates, it only barely touched on the role that unfair media moderators played in both the nominating process and in the general election. Despite its reluctance to criticize media impartiality, the RNC report did open the door to the creation of a new organization that would be assigned to create and host the debates apart from the media.
|
Comments: They were fools to allow leftists to control who would be moderators of the debates. Bret Baier or Brit Hume would have been wonderful moderators. This whole new "movement" seems doomed from the start.

The problem is that other networks are not going to broadcast debates moderated by reporters from Fox News, and the Democratic candidates will not agree to debates on Fox. The best the Republicans could hope for is someone like the dispassionate and fair Brian Lamb of C-Span, who, to my surprise (precisely because he is fair), is said to be a liberal.

I just thanked R Priebus for sending a copy of the report to me. I replied that I found the report to be pathetic, cowardly and dangerous. I also told him to reach out sincerely to Sarah Palin (God bless her!) and the Tea Party movement, then forget DC and the paid politicos.

For the past 6 elections, the presidential debate formats were fixed in favor of democrats, especially the town halls, which are a travesty, and the GOP caves with just a slight whimper.
This "report" comes on top of news yesterday that RNC intends to spend $10 million on minority outreach. Pathetic. The GOP is feckless.
I won´t give a dime to RNC until it´s disinfected. Rinos have to go.

Every debate since the 1960 JFK debates has been fixed before the start. Its the only way for a Democrat look half way human. Who cares if some propaganda stations don´t carry the debates? They can show re-runs of Obama speeches instead.

After Candy Crowley, I don´t see how the RNC can support any more Presidential debates under the current system. First, the exclusion of Fox network moderators must stop. I would say any of Hume, Baier or Wallace would be more neutral than anyone we have seen so far in these debates. If the Democrats can´t accept that, then no debates. Second, the moderators must pledge not to communicate or accept communications from the candidates or their parties from the time the moderator is named. Candy Crowley was obviously given Democrat material to be used at the debate. She didn´t have that info right at her fingertips without outside help. If it is learned before the debate that the pledge had been broken, the moderator has to step down. Post-debate discovery will result in a permanent ban on that person moderating future debates. Third, vetos of moderators have to be based on specifics showing bias. Saying someone is on Fox News is not a good enough reason to reject someone. Finally, it might be good to get some non- TV media types as moderators.

RNC..real, nutty crap. They spent a billion and never told the world about Obama´s lies and frauds. They just picked on each other and destroyed any integrity that each candidate had. They let the most vulnerable presidential candidate in history skate right through to victory. Very demoralizing to be represented by such a clewless crew.

No msm moderators at all. The dem picks a mod, the rep picks a mod and they all show up for an evening on c-span. Do it three times.
The dems will never agree to this. Candy Crowley is their idea of a great moderator. Having pre-set gotchas on her desk to shore up the democrat. That´s the way they like it.

We´ve all watched this for years. I gave up thinking it was stupidity and cowardice a long time ago. The mechanisms of the GOP have been captured - these same can be recaptured, but we can´t afford to delude ourselves about what´s going on.

The White House said Thursday that President Obama "absolutely" did not aid Jay-Z and Beyoncé in obtaining travel licenses to visit Cuba. On Wednesday night, the rapper released a song that bragged about the trip and included the lyrics "boy from the hood but got White House clearance." The lyrics also say Obama told him "chill, you gonna get me impeached." But on Thursday, White House press secretary Jay Carney said dismissively "it´s a song." "I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury, because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel and the White House had nothing to do it

A secret recording of a campaign strategy session between U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and his advisors was taped by leaders of the Progress Kentucky super PAC, says a longtime local Democratic operative. Mother Jones Magazine released the tape this week. The meeting itself took place on Feb. 2. Jacob Conway, who is on the executive committee of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, says that day, Shawn Reilly and Curtis Morrison, who founded and volunteered for Progress Kentucky, respectively, bragged to him about how they recorded the meeting. If you, or your workplace, are still using Windows XP, it’s time to move on. Microsoft will officially end support for the 2001-vintage platform on April 8, 2014, just shy of a year from now. That means no more service packs, no more updates and, most importantly, no more security patches. Windows users generally receive periodic updates from Microsoft via its Windows Update service. These fixes often patch irregular behavior in the operating system. More importantly, they plug vital flaws in the OS´s security, preventing hackers and exploiters from running roughshod over private PCs.

Global PC shipments fell by 13.9 percent in the first quarter of 2013, and according to analyst firm IDC , Windows 8 could very well be the reason. On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that 76.3 million PC units shipped during the most recent financial period, marking the biggest decline since the IDC began publishing quarterly numbers 19 years ago. “The reaction to Windows 8 is real,” Jay Chou, an IDC analyst, said to The Wall Street Journal. Increased demand for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have also played a role in this decline,

Controversial gun legislation cleared a key Senate hurdle Thursday, as lawmakers voted 68-31 to start debate on the package which includes expanded background checks and new penalties for gun trafficking. Senate Democrats, joined by a few Republicans, were able to overcome an attempted filibuster by more than a dozen senators opposed to the current bill. Those senators could still slow-walk the debate, but the Senate will ultimately begin votes on amendments -- one of which is considered crucial to winning support for a final vote.

Superstar rapper Jay-Z released a new song Wednesday night addressing the recent controversy around his trip last month to Cuba with wife Beyonce, blasting politicians who have questioned whether it was appropriate for the pair to visit the communist nation. In the song, titled "Open Letter," Jay-Z jokes that he "turned Havana [in]to Atlanta" and claims President Obama told him "chill, you gonna get me impeached." Jay-Z´s song tees off on those questioning his travel plans, at one point asking politicians, "Wanna give me jail time and a fine? Fine, let me commit a real crime."

Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) tried a “stop the filibuster” campaign against Republicans in the upper chamber determined to stop gun-control legislation. The three liberal House members gathered signatures from 47 other lawmakers on the letter sent to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Mike Lee (R-Utah) to “respectfully request that you exercise restraint from engaging in filibusters on these important pieces of legislation.” The filibuster, they maintain, “was neither intended nor used historically to prevent the Senate from working its will on matters supported

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which will run Obamacare, said that those seeking grants must apply by June 7. The health care program kicks in Oct. 1, when Americans can sign up for health care coverage to begin Jan, 1. "Navigators will be an important resource for the millions of

Frustrated gun control proponents are determined to pass stricter gun laws, but they increasingly turn to graphic depictions of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting to push forward their agenda. “I walked the halls where these unspeakable acts took place,” Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday during a gun control speech. “I saw the dried blood on the walls. I saw the horrific crime scene photos.” It appears that Holder believes that the acts themselves are "unspeakable" but not the gory details of the aftermath. Neither does Vice President Joe Biden, who implemented a graphic approach while making

For decades, members of the left have insisted that the right is fighting a war on science. But when it comes to the issues of abortion and homosexuality, it is the left that fights a consistent and ridiculous war with reality. This week, Wesley Smith of the Weekly Standard reported that California would be considering AB 460, a bill that would mandate group insurance coverage for so-called gay and lesbian "infertility." What in the world does that bizarre phrase mean? It doesn´t mean situations in which two members of a lesbian couple are both infertile and incapable

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.
