The city of Detroit is a cesspool of corruption. The city council is run by very stupid people who obviously have no management skills and are anti-white racists. Mayor Bing is a decent smart guy who can´t get anywhere with this pack of morons. Now that the UAW had them all ginned up it will probably get ugly. Glad I live and work in the burbs.

The key wording is "well organized" demonstrators. It will be mostly the public employees protesting.

Some Council members will be screaming too. Plus a variety of community organizers and advocates.

Maybe a professional like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton will parachute in.

The Emergency Manager will have more power than the City Council had. But it will not be unlimited. It is not a bankruptcy proceeding.

I expect a struggle similar to the Wisconsin protests at the Capitol last year. Walker is still Governor and his changes are still law.

It was the voters who put these people in power and its the same voters who keep sending them back. How I wish stupidity was not only painful, but lethal for the afflicted.

Governor Snyder needs only to point at these idiots as the explanation of why Detroit is so dysfunctional and such a cesspool.

I remember watching on cspan, a meeting between the council and the citizens of detroit. When the council asked the citizens for some suggestions about running the city, a white man raised his hand, was acknowledged, but when he arose to make his statement the 98% black audience yelled at him that because he was white, he had no say. There is no going back from that mentality. They would choose race over any suggestions of improving their condition. And I guess even a black lawyer appointed by a republican governor does not do the trick. The graft line might be interrupted.

Surround the city with high voltage electric razor wire fences and let them have at it.

May the wax ring and the porcelain pot hit them all in the back of their collective dumded-down, celebrity-obsessed, busted-azz heads as they go down the sewer!

This is what comes from decades of pandering to the basest, most ignorant elements in society and treating them as if stupidity and diversity and laziness had greater value than education and productiveness, all in the name of political correctness forced down our throats by limp-wristed liberals suffering from a plague known as white guilt. This society will not survive if people feel the need to continue ingratiating themselves to violent minorities for whom no amount of aid will ever be enough. And I agree with one or two of the other posters that one has to wonder whether we shouldn´t just wall up Detroit and let them have what they´ve ´built´.

Face it. Detroit and Zimbabwe are sister country and city. When the inept take over, they drive it into a the pits.

The truth: Those local politicians and union thugs are petrified of losing their trough. Also, they can´t allow Snyder to be successful.

The fine citizens of Detroit should be moved to Zimbabwe. Get rid of the filth and let the state of Michigan recover from the plague known as Detroit that it´s had for the last 50 years.

this city is already unliveable for many of its citizens... sad but true.... the normal group of thugs that make up the base of the left are in charge... I for one believe it should be allowed to go broke with no other hard working tax paying American be required to bail them out.....this is very much blue heaven and a warning to the rest of the nation about what our collective future could be.
