RNC to spend $10 million

WASHINGTON— Reeling from back-to-back presidential losses and struggling to cope with the country´s changing racial and ethnic makeup, the Republican National Committee plans to spend $10 million this year to send hundreds of party workers into Hispanic, black and Asian communities to promote its brand among voters who overwhelmingly supported Democrats in 2012. Committee chairman Reince Priebus on Sunday also proposed shortening the presidential nominating calendar in 2016 and limiting the number of primary-season debates to avoid the self-inflicted damage from inside-party squabbling on the eventual nominee. Priebus´ top-to-bottom changes include picking the moderators for the debates and then

This is like a dollar per minority voter. It doesn´t even begin to pay for an Obama phone (much less an EBT card).

The RNC will hire ´consultants´ to run this outreach thing. The consultants will get rich taking a percentage of the advertising, and the outreach thing will fail. (sound familiar?)

If I were a minority Democrat operative, I would have a field day with this. "Those evil racist Republicans are paying 50 cents a head for the minorities and 50 dollars a head for their white friends. That is how much they value us."

Classic organizational stupidity. The RNC should never do this. Simply define your vision and let whoever believes in it support you.

#7 is right. Members of the Political Circus will always find ways to take our money before it gets to the source. IMO the new young guns need to keep keeping at it as they have been doing the last week. Future voters need to see how the Republican Party is being turned around. And they´d better turn it around. There is time to do this but it needs to start now. If you are looking for a horror story imagine 2014 going against us.

#6 is absolutely right!! We don´ t need to throw a bunch of money away. We need our Representatives and Senators to get out of their ivory towers and country clubs and meet with the people in their neighborhoods, listen to their concerns and work toward helping them find real solutions to their problems. NOT pandering...NOT buying them off... but going out and reaching out. And they need to keep it up. Not just once or twice. They need to act like REAL public servants. Be sincere and eventually people will see it. Once we have their ear, we can help them see the truth about the party that has used them for generations.

Everyone is completely missing the point! The first step, the Republican nominee must be selected by Republicans. Eliminate open primaries, do not allow the MSN to select another McPain only to trash him later. Do not allow the Dems crossover voters saddle us with another New England RINO. The Republican nominee should be selected by Republicans. Until this is done the national party is putting lipstick on a pig!

TRENTON — Talk about an odd couple. Liberal media mogul Arianna Huffington is bringing GOP star Gov. Chris Christie to the White House Correspondents´ dinner later this month. The governor will feel at home with the Huffington Post founder´s other guests: New Jersey natives Jon Bon Jovi of Sayreville and Shaquille O´Neal of Newark, according to Women´s Wear Daily, which first reported the invites. Shaq recently visited Christie at the Statehouse in Trenton. Christie was one half of an unusual pairing last year, too, when he made headlines for sitting next to bombshell "Modern Family" actress Sofia Vegara.

I don´t mean in a Nazis vs Communists, Hitler vs Stalin, way. I mean in a moderate way: Conservative activists vs Labour activists, you might say. It´s difficult to imagine Conservative activists behaving like the people who celebrated Margaret Thatcher´s death in Glasgow and Brixton. That´s partly because it´s hard to think of any Left-wing leader who had as powerful an effect on the country as she did. But, still, between them, Harold Wilson and Jim Callaghan – with quite a lot of help from Edward Heath – led to a disastrous decline in British fortunes in the 1970s,

It means that, when it comes to providing accommodation for Hong Kong´s huge population, the only way to go is up. The result is the soaring high-rise buildings captured to incredible effect by German photographer Michael Wolf in his project Architecture of Density.

The U.S. Postal Service on Wednesday said it will delay a cost-cutting plan to end Saturday mail delivery, following congressional action that blocked the effort. Congress passed a temporary federal spending bill last month including language that prevents the agency -- which lost $15.9 billion last year -- from going to a Monday-to-Friday mail delivery schedule. The agency, which wanted to begin the new schedule Aug. 5, said the decision was made Tuesday by its board of governors. “By including restrictive language in the Continuing Resolution, Congress has prohibited implementation of a new national delivery schedule,”

President Obama´s budget plan would increase taxes by $580 billion over the next decade, but it relies on many proposals that have been repeatedly rejected by Congress. Some were rejected as recently as January, when Congress voted to make permanent a series of tax cuts first enacted under President George W. Bush. Among them, a proposal to limit itemized deductions for high-income families. One new proposal is a 94 cents-a-pack increase in the cigarette tax. The tax would raise an estimated $78 billion over the next decade to pay for early childhood education.
