Did Obama Just Block Keystone?
National Review Online, by Stanley Kurtz

Original Article

Deciding whether to approve the Keystone XL pipeline is surely one of the toughest challenges of Barack Obama’s presidency. He hasn’t made up his mind yet, of course. Or has he? Bloomberg reports that the Obama administration “is preparing to tell all federal agencies for the first time that they should consider the impact on global warming before approving major projects.” Up to now, under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), federally approved projects had to consider potential impacts like dangerous spills or air pollution, but not global warming.

I can´t help but wonder if all those dims who are now on board legislation supporting Keystone, know what Ob is planning on and know that while they publicly support it, it won´t see the light of day because they know he will block it by hook or crook!

Zero needs money from his whacko environmental donors to fund 2014 so he can get control of Congress.

Then stand back - we ain´t seen nothin´ yet. 2014 will be ugly...Obamacare kicking in, "elections". I suppose this is what the DHS weapons are for.

If this man leaves this WH in 2016 I will be VERY surprised. We´ve never seen anything like this before in this country.

There´s no compelling federal interest in this pipeline,so Obama really has no reason to stick his nose in it.Now he´s using outdated, archaic Nixon era laws as an avenue to stop it going any farther.

If the president was truly interested in creating real jobs for Americans, the pipeline is a no-brainer. These delaying tactics display Obama´s anti-energy agenda. If Romney had been elected the pipeline would be underway with thousands of good paying jobs.

Obama would rather buy Saudi oil. Certainly not American oil produced by tax paying Americans. He is happy to ship the jobs and money to his Islamic Big Oil buddies. He will continue to collect donations from the Commie Greens. Buffet´s diesel smoke belching trains will profit..more Buffet donations. Canada will sell the oil to China. You must hate really America to execute this.

New federal rule could end recycling

The Post Standard ( Syracruse NY), by Don Cazentre    Original Article

It seems to be a perfect match. Brewers need a way to dispose of the wet and mushy grains that are a byproduct of making beer. Farmers are looking for inexpensive but healthful feed for their livestock. So breweries across the country -- including those here in Central New York -- donate their used grains to local farmers. It´s free: The farmers just stop by the breweries and cart the stuff away, usually in large plastic containers. It´s a classic example of reuse and recycling, but a provision in the proposed federal Food Safety Modernization Act might bring it to an end. The

The Obama administration hopes to fight global warming with the geeky power of numbers, maps and even gaming-type simulations. The White House on Wednesday announced an initiative to provide private companies and local governments better access to already public climate data. The idea is that with that localized data they can help the public understand the risks they face, especially in coastal areas where flooding is a big issue. The government also is working with several high-tech companies, such as Google, Microsoft and Intel, to come up with tools to make communities more resilient in dealing with weather extremes, such as flooding,

With Crimea in Russia´s pocket, the world anxiously awaits Vladimir Putin´s next move. Beyond the prize of the Black Sea peninsula, a picture is emerging of what the Russian president ultimately wants from his power play: broad autonomy for Ukraine´s Russian-speaking regions and guarantees that Ukraine will never realize the Kremlin´s worst nightmare - joining NATO. The big question is whether Putin is willing to invade more areas of eastern Ukraine to achieve these goals. For the West, it all boils down to a tough dilemma over compromising with Moscow to avert military conflict or taking a hard-line stance and risking

Lady Gaga never saw it coming. After a relentless, mammoth, publicity extravaganza for her new album, ArtPop, she was upstaged by a comet seeming to swoop in out of nowhere — the release of Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Eminem’s sales boomed big, while Gaga’s embarrassingly fizzled, leading to quick deep discounts to keep ArtPop on the charts. Eminem, now 41, did few interviews and personal appearances for this formidable double album. As with Adele sweeping the Grammys two years ago, his instant commercial triumph demonstrates the readiness of a discerning world public to respond to power and passion

Ice continued to build this past week on the Great Lakes due to the cold air and temperatures staying below freezing, and Lake Superior´s new record shows it. The lake is 92 percent frozen, toppling a 20-year-old record of 91 percent set on Feb. 5, 1994. That statistic helped total Great Lakes ice cover soar, and we can expect to see more form in coming days. The air temperatures this past week averaged around five degrees below normal for the Great Lakes area. This amount of deviation from normal means it was a fairly cold week. As of February 5,

Stymied by the GOP´s long resistance to cap and trade legislation, the EPA this week began public hearings -- the next step toward a final rule -- to cut carbon dioxide emissions from new coal plants. The rule would limit emissions to 1100 pounds per Megawatt hour, a level the coal industry says is technologically unattainable. Green energy proponents disagree. "Opponents say this will prevent ever building another coal-fired plant in the United States today. They say that the technology is not commercially available. These claims are scare tactics," Rep. An Oregon startup has developed a pocket-size device that uses tiny sponges to stop bleeding fast. When a soldier is shot on the battlefield, the emergency treatment can seem as brutal as the injury itself. A medic must pack gauze directly into the wound cavity, sometimes as deep as 5 inches into the body, to stop bleeding from an artery. It’s an agonizing process that doesn´t always work--if bleeding hasn´t stopped after three minutes of applying direct pressure, the medic must pull out all the gauze and start over again. It’s so painful, “you take the guy’s gun away first,”

A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. A RAND study pours buckets of cold water on the Obama administration’s claims that it has nearly reached 7 million sign-ups for Obamacare. The whole point of Obamacare, supposedly, was to insure the uninsured and bend the cost curve down. Those who had insurance were supposed to be able to keep it. Families were supposed to start saving about $2500 a year. If you believed the Obama administration. Reality, according to RAND‘s study, is that the Obama administration’s 7 million figure is deceptive. Supposing 7 million have actually signed up and paid their first premium — which is not a given,
