NRA opposes U.N.

Washington Post, by Peter Finn

The National Rifle Association, which is battling a raft of gun control measures on Capitol Hill, also has an international fight on its hand as it gears up to oppose a U.N. treaty designed to restrict the flow of arms to conflict zones. Negotiations open Monday in New York on the Arms Trade Treaty, which would require countries to determine whether weapons they sell would be used to commit serious human rights violations, terrorism or transnational organized crime. The gun lobby fears that the treaty would be used to regulate civilian weapons. Human rights activists

This treaty will disarm civilians in many places, preventing people from defending themselves and stopping government mistreatment.

Despots everywhere will always come down on the side of preventing the oppressed from obtaining arms to defend themselves. The UN is made up largely of representatives of despots.

The NRA is doing good work here, and of course, the Zero admin´s rep, John Effing
Kerry (war hero, doncha know) is perfectly willing to sell the Constitution down the river. Evil times.

The rehabilitation of Hillary Clinton
Washington Times, by Joseph Curl    Original Article

While Hillary Rodham Clinton has all but vanished, hitting the speaker’s circuit at $200,000 a pop and bouncing between her two palatial mansions in New York and Washington, the press corps is working overtime to rebuild her tarnished reputation. First came The New York Times with a lengthy “investigative” piece of the Sept. 11, 2012, Benghazi terrorist attack. The 7,500-word tome ignored the former secretary of state’s role in the deaths of four Americans. What’s more, the Times never mentioned Mrs. Clinton — not once — and concluded that the attack “was fueled in large part by anger at an

When President Obama’s term expires in January 2017, we will have completed roughly one-sixth of the 21st century. How will the American political history of the period be remembered? Quite likely, it will be remembered, fairly or not, for two badly botched presidencies — one of them mainly for a botched war; the other mainly for a botched overhaul of our health care system. President Bush initiated a war that he hoped would help transform the Middle East for the better. The war went well at first. But then events failed to validate its primary stated justification — the alleged

Class back on rise in

LONDON — For the past three decades, many Britons had hoped the rigid class system that defined their country from Dickens to "Downton Abbey" was finally dying. Now they fear that class, their old bugbear, is back on the rise. From 1979, Britain was led for more than a decade by Margaret Thatcher, a grocer´s daughter, and then by John Major, the son of a music-hall entertainer. The current leader, David Cameron, is a descendent of King William IV whose Cabinet is stacked with men, like him, from the country´s toniest private schools and Oxford and Cambridge universities. More ObamaCare Delays Won’t Save Dems

From its inception, the strategy behind the Obama administration’s implementation of ObamaCare has been simple: to frontload the benefits and postpone the pain and costs of this massive government intrusion into the private sector for as long as possible. This deceitful approach enabled President Obama run for reelection in 2012 on the spurious promise of extending insurance coverage to the poor and those with pre-existing conditions without being held accountable for the problems with the law that would only become apparent in his second term. Over the course of the last year, as the president’s signature accomplishment debuted with a

Late this afternoon, the Obama administration decided to delay for yet another year the health-care mandate that companies provide health insurance to their employees, this time to 2016. “It’s a double whammy here,” Charles Krauthammer said on Special Report tonight. Combining the recent CBO report finding that millions of Americans will choose to work less because of Obamacare and the people who will lose their jobs involuntarily as a result of the mandates, Obamacare is looking like a huge liability come November, Krauthammer explained. “They are getting tremendous complaints from small business that they can’t do this. WASHINGTON — After news broke today that the Obama administration unilaterally decided to delay the health insurance mandate for medium-sized employers until 2016, Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) tweeted a cartoon of a football refs moving the goalpost farther and farther away from the end zone. “The Obama Administration once again moving the goalposts on #Obamacare,” Hastings tweeted. Beginning next year, businesses that employ 50 to 99 workers will have to report statistics to the government on how many employees are being offered or are receiving health insurance. These employers won’t be assessed penalties on the non-insured until 2016, though. Businesses

The 2016 Democratic presidential field is likely to run to the left of President Obama, partly because candidates will try to distance themselves from his political baggage while jockeying for an increasingly liberal base of voters, analysts predict. Prospective candidates and their surrogates insist it’s too early to tell what kind of standing Mr. Obama will have with voters and whether he will be seen as damaged goods the way President Bush was for Republicans in 2008. But discontent is brewing within the Democratic Party over what some see as Mr. Obama’s concessions to Republicans. Those Democratic voters will be

The emergence of Twitter as a social media goliath has unleashed gossip and speculation as a media force. The long term consequences are unknowable, but in the meantime, with a far left president with a dicey past, it is producing some highly amusing results. Last night, President Obama explained to Bob Costas of NBC Sports why he wasn´t attending the Sochi Olympics, but the substance of what he had to say was lost in the controversy that erupted on Twitter over whether or not he was stoned. Yahoo writer Mike Oz took the high road, as would nearly any journalist, and described the president as looking "sleepy."

Talley, and the company he founded and led as chief executive officer, are under investigation by the Colorado Division of Insurance, a part of the state Department of Regulatory Agencies which regulates title companies, an agency spokesman confirmed Thursday. It´s no surprise that Barack Obama´s authoritarian streak is revealing itself at last. It was always there; clearly apparent in his rhetoric (e.g., his envy of Chinese president Xi Jin-ping´s powers), his abuse of executive orders, his threats against Congress, his sultan with fly-whisk attitudes toward his opposition, and even his vacations, which reek more of third-world trash gamboling on the Riviera than any American leader (George W. Bush settled his mind by clearing brush in Texas, Reagan at his ranch in Santa Barbara. Obama unfortunately finds the brush already cleared in Martha´s Vineyard and Hawaii.)

President Obama has repeatedly suspended parts of the Affordable Care Act without the consent of Congress. The latest unilateral action happened Monday night, when the administration announced another delay of the employer mandate, the law´s provision that businesses with more than 50 employees must provide their employees with insurance starting in 2014 or pay large fines. In July, the president decreed the mandate wouldn´t be enforced at all in 2014, and last night administration officials declared that businesses with 50 to 99 employees wouldn´t be penalized in 2015. Republicans have denounced such actions as "lawless." But if what the president has

Less than 24 hours after President Obama illegally rewrote the law he had previously jammed down Boehner´s -- and the country´s -- throat, Boehner handed the budding dictator a clean debt-ceiling hike. Last October, Obama vindictively shut down the federal government upon his having refused to delay ObamaCare, which of course is exactly what he himself lawlessly did on February 10, 2014! Of course, Boehner is hardly in a position to argue now, having foolishly (immensely so) accepted responsibility for the shutdown. Never mind Boehner´s cowardice (we´ll get to that in a moment); what kind of moron cedes that kind of maneuverability to
