I just showed the husband this article. He was refusing to take his metformin. I hope now he will take it so we can get his sugar under control.

This fits very well with the discoveries of Thomas Seyfried PhD who wrote a book Cancer as a Metabolic Disease where he explained that Cancer cells live only on sugar because they produce energy by fermentation not normal respiration as normal cells do. Normal cells can live on sugar OR Ketones so a ketogenic diet can heal the cancer by starving the cancer cells of sugar. Anyone interested can watch this video of him explaining it all:

Very interesting article. I´ve been on metformin for over 5 years for diabetes. Kinda nice to think it may inhibit cancer too.

#5, because metformin is the generic form of Glucophage, I doubt the price is likely to rise. Of course, there could be shortages because of a surge in prescriptions. Because it´s so inexpensive I have in the past obtained from my PCP a prescription for me to buy it without going through insurance so that I could have a stash for peak hurricane season.
Of interest, from Wikipedia:
First synthesized and found to reduce blood sugar in the 1920s, metformin was forgotten for the next two decades as research shifted to insulin and other antidiabetic drugs. Interest in metformin was rekindled in the late 1940s after several reports that it could reduce blood sugar levels in people, and in 1957, French physician Jean Sterne published the first clinical trial of metformin as a treatment for diabetes. It was introduced to the United Kingdom in 1958, Canada in 1972, and the United States in 1995.
Forty years before it was "introduced" to the US--something to do with big pharma maybe? Can´t remember the French company that sold Glucophage but that was probably a factor too.
I do know metformin can cause tummy troubles but have read that the extended release form of metformin can sometimes help with that. I do take the ER form and have no problems.

I´ve been on the drug for nearly 20 years, but had a case of laryngeal cancer 7 years ago. After a lot of radiation treatments, I have been free of cancer for just over 6 years. Hope the drug works on the stuff metioned.

A coral reef in Northern Australia severely damaged by warming seas has managed to completely heal itself in just 12 years, stunned researchers have found. The team found that being left alone to breed on its own was key. The discovery raises hope that other damaged reefs could ´regenerate´. The new research shows that an isolated reef off the northwest coast of Australia that was severely damaged by a period of warming in 1998.
