GOP Must Launch Reality Offensive
Creators Syndicate, by David Limbaugh

How can anyone take President Obama seriously when he tells us our national debt is no big deal? Well, we have to take him seriously, because, unserious thinking or not, he has serious power, including the power to obstruct progress on reducing the debt. I´m not making this up, of course, which is too bad because it illustrates why it is so hard for Republicans to work with this man. He neither views the fiscal world from the same lens nor shares the goal of significant debt reduction. In an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos, Obama said, "We don't have an immediate crisis in terms

I don´t like it anymore than anyone else but the bottom line is liberal democrats are out voting Rebublicans by a near 2 to 1 margin per capita. And since politics is politics look for the GOP to gravitate toward the current actual voting block, the looney left. Looks to me as if it has already begun. Death of the GOP?

Iran is moving ahead with a nuclear program that U.S. officials said would be frozen, and it is now clear the USA and other world powers are willing to accept an Iranian enrichment program that Iran refuses to abandon, say analysts. Iran has continued research and development on new, far more efficient machines for producing uranium fuel that could power reactors or bombs, and its stockpile of low enriched uranium has actually grown, according to a report by Institute for Science and International Security. The Iranian regime has also trumpeted recent tests of new ballistic missiles that could be used to deliver

Here´s President Obama on Friday: "The United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine." Characteristically, Obama establishes a few degrees of separation between himself and actually acting. He doesn´t say, straightforwardly, that the United States will lead the international community in imposing costs for any military intervention in Ukraine. No. The United States will "stand with" others in "affirming" that "there will be costs." One suspects that President Putin isn´t very worried about affirmations of future costs by the international community. He´s seen Bashar al-Assad survive similar

Surely, some kind of ending is upon us. Last week climate protesters demanded the silencing of Charles Krauthammer for a Washington Post column that notices uncertainties in the global warming hypothesis. In coming weeks a libel trial gets under way brought by Penn State´s Michael Mann, author of the famed hockey stick, against National Review, the Competitive Enterprise Institute, writer Rand Simberg and roving commentator Mark Steyn for making wisecracks about his climate work. The New York Times runs a cartoon of a climate "denier" being stabbed with an icicle. These are indications of a political movement turned to defending

Kiev Between barricades of tires and impromptu memorials to the victims of Ukraine´s revolution, Mikheil Saakashvili stops to pose for pictures and shake hands. "You showed us how to fight Russia," says a gray-haired man in a camouflage jacket, embracing him on Institutska Street, a front line in last week´s climactic clashes in the capital. As the former president of the ex-Soviet nation of Georgia, Mr. Saakashvili certainly knows all about confronting Russia and Vladimir Putin. He also lost a chunk of his country in the process. Now he is here in Ukraine, a country he knows well from his youth,

Leadership: Court papers reveal the FBI had an informant right next to Osama bin Laden in 1993 sending reports up the chain of command. Yet then-President Clinton did nothing — a pattern with both him and his wife. It came to light during a 2010 employment discrimination case filed by FBI agent Bassem Youssef, a Coptic Christian who contended he´d been passed over for promotion after directing an agent he recruited after the 1993 terror attack on the World Trade Center. The still-unnamed agent provided valuable intelligence to the bureau on that 1993 case, and went on to reveal the terror ring´s

The attorney general´s, on the other hand, are completely unfounded; yet his list of Americans and American institutions he thinks are racist just keeps growing. Just weeks after absurdly accusing public school teachers of systematic discrimination, he recklessly leveled charges of racism at the 48 states that bar felons from voting, suggesting they´re acting like "post-Reconstruction states" enforcing Jim Crow laws. Benghazi: Former CIA acting Director Mike Morell might be recalled for testimony to determine if he misled Congress and doctored the White House response to a terrorist attack to ensure President Obama´s re-election. The administration´s tangled web of Benghazi lies might be unraveling some more. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., has told Fox News that Morell, a former deputy director and twice acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will likely be recalled to testify. The recall comes after new charges surfaced that Morell misled Congress about what he knew regarding the 2012 Benghazi attack and when he knew it.

Now, there are two possibilities here. One is that she is sick. We hope she´s not. We hope Mrs. Clinton´s health is good. But if she is sick, if she has significant health challenges, would that explain her inexplicable behavior regarding Benghazi? If this had been only an average recovery, we´d be $1.31 trillion richer. Remember all that talk at the beginning of last year about how prosperity was — finally — just around the corner? In February 2013, for example, Reuters reported "signs are emerging that a more robust recovery is around the bend." The same month, Bloomberg told its readers that "most Fed policymakers expect growth of 2.3% to 3%." At the start of last year, the Obama administration projected growth in 2013 would be 2.3%.

But in private, rumors persist that the former Secretary of State may not even be capable of making it to Iowa and New Hampshire. Clinton, these skeptics often say, will not run for president again because of health concerns. These ubiquitous rumors of her health have been fueled in part by the supermarket tabloids. The “greatest buried treasure ever unearthed in the United States” is about to be hit by the tax collector. According to Kathleen Pender, a columnist at the San Francisco Chronicle, the couple who found in cans buried on their property more than 1,400 rare gold coins worth more than $10 million will probably owe close to half of that sum in federal and state income tax, whether or not they sell the coins. She quoted a 2013 tax guide in which the IRS stated: “If you find and keep property that does not belong to you that has been lost or

Kerry Kennedy has been found not guilty of drugged driving — and gave herself a hearty round of applause after jurors were dismissed from court by a Westchester County judge. Kennedy — who had faced up to a year in jail if convicted — hugged both her lawyers as the verdict was read, and then began clapping after the jurors left the courtroom. President Barack Obama is warning Russia "there will be costs" for any military maneuvers it launches in Ukraine, a move U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they believe to be already underway. Officials say Obama may retaliate by canceling a trip to Russia this summer for an international summit and could also cut off trade discussions with Moscow. But it´s unclear whether those moves will have any impact on Russia´s calculus in Ukraine, which is at the center of what many see as a tug of war between East and West. "Any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing," Obama declared Friday
