Vatican defends Pope Francis against
Argentia ´dirty war´ allegations

Washington Post, by Jason Horowitz

Original Article

Rome - The Vatican vigorously defended Pope Francis on Friday by seeking to discredit accusations that he failed to oppose and may even have collaborated with Argentina’s feared military junta during the so-called “dirty war” against left-wing activists. The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, departed from his recent good cheer since the pope’s election to excoriate the criticisms in the press. He called the accusations against the former Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who served as a Jesuit provincial superior and then archbishop of Buenos Aires, stale and the work of

Pope Francis has denied all accusations but the Left wing dictators of Argentina are angry at him.

And so the war on God continues. What the left doesn´t realize is that the world fell in love with him at "Good Evening."

He is a wonderful representation of all that can be good and right with the world.

We knew this was coming - they will repeat the lies about the 2 Jesuit priests until somebody believes it. I´m not sure how conservative Pope Francis is - I have seen him called a Peronist. But he is not as Left wing as the Kirchners - who seem like the Bill & Hillary of Argentina. He caught them lying about how their government policies were improving the plight of the poor and pretty much called them liars. He also vigorously opposed their secular ´reforms´ like gay marriage.

WaPo writers should really consider what they are doing and look up the words "calumny" and "detraction."

Argentia? Where is that?

By the way, I think Pope Francis is perfectly able to defend himself. This is getting interesting. With all due respect, I´m waiting to hear him kick some of the proverbial neggies to the curb.

It didn´t take long for Mr. Horowitz and all of the other Washington Post Catholic haters to mount a Palin like hate campaign - this will probably go on for years.

From the article: Vatican: anti-clerical campaign against pope By NICOLE WINFIELD | Associated Press – March 15, 2013
"Bergoglio said he had told the priests — Orlando Yorio and Francisco Jalics — to give up their slum work for their own safety, and they refused. Yorio later accused Bergoglio of effectively delivering them to the death squads by declining to publicly endorse their work. Yorio is now dead."

´Father Jorge´ Rose From Modest Roots By JOHN LYONS, KEN PARKS And MATTHEW COWLEY
LATIN AMERICA NEWS March 13, 2013
The new pontiff has walked a fine line politically in a country that has often been sharply divided between hard left and hard right. While he has frequently criticized the large gap between rich and poor in Latin America, he never followed many of his fellow Jesuits in pursuing Liberation Theology in the 1960s and 1970s, a movement that sought to lift the living standards for the region´s poor. The movement became entwined with Marxist ideologies that were inspiring armed rebellion across the region, in several cases against right-wing dictatorships.
"He didn´t want to politicize the company of Christ," his spokesman, Guillermo Marco, told Argentina´s Clarin daily.
and
"Pope Francis told his Argentine biographer that he regularly hid fugitives from the Argentine government, reported the Associated Press. And when two Jesuit priests were kidnapped, he said he convinced a Junta leader´s priest to call in sick so he might celebrate Mass at the general´s home and plead for mercy. The men were released."

Many millions of Catholics around the world were joyous with the naming of a new pope -- a holy man from the Third World no less. Even in choosing his name, Pope Francis is emphasizing a devotion to the poor, and humility in his clothing and manners. The liberal media should be lapping this up. There was an accurate recounting of the global rejoicing, especially in Argentina. There were hopeful words about his pastoral modesty.(snip)the natural secular liberal nastiness toward the oldest Christian faith bubbled up in demands for "tolerance" and women´s liberation.

Sitting in his workshop in San Telmo, pencil in hand, goldsmith Juan Carlos Pallarols drafts one of his most meaningful works of art: a chalice that will be delivered to “Pope Jorge” on behalf of all Argentines. Pallarols knows that this is not just another piece amongst his many other works that have earned him the reputation of being one of the best goldsmiths in the world. This is special. “It’s a particular gift, it’s for a friend, for a good man, but this is not just a gift coming from me. It comes from the Argentine population,” he said, still moved by the news.

Deciding whether to approve the Keystone XL pipeline is surely one of the toughest challenges of Barack Obama’s presidency. He hasn’t made up his mind yet, of course. Or has he? Bloomberg reports that the Obama administration “is preparing to tell all federal agencies for the first time that they should consider the impact on global warming before approving major projects.” Up to now, under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), federally approved projects had to consider potential impacts like dangerous spills or air pollution, but not global warming.

Finally, after a 12-year delay caused by opponents of genetically modified foods, so-called “golden rice” with vitamin A will be grown in the Philippines. Over those 12 years, about 8 million children worldwide died from vitamin A deficiency. Are anti-GM advocates not partly responsible? Golden rice is the most prominent example in the global controversy over GM foods, which pits a technology with some risks but incredible potential against the resistance of feel-good campaigning.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Margaret Thatcher had more impact on the world than any woman ruler since Catherine the Great of Russia. Not only did she turn around—decisively—the British economy in the 1980s, she also saw her methods copied in more than 50 countries. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
