US assault weapons ban
heading for defeat in Senate

The Telegraph [UK], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:PChristopher, 3/15/2013 7:52:00 AM

President Barack Obama´s bid to renew a ban against military-style assault weapons narrowly won the backing of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday and headed to the full Senate, where it appears certain to fail. On a party line vote of 10-8, the Democratic-led panel approved a bill to renew a ban similar to one that expired in 2004. The measure would also limit high-capacity ammunition clips to 10 bullets.

Comments:
As I recall, the "Assault" weapon at Newtown lay, unused, in the trunk of the mental case´s car. And just which Americans were polled to come up with a majority backing the ban?

And why do they keep calling magazines "clips"? Its like calling any 4 wheeled vehicle a "truck". It identifies the writer as someone who knows very little about guns.

"The President thanked the committee for approving the bill, saying in a statement that the weapons ´are designed for the battlefield and have no place on our streets, in our schools or threatening our law enforcement officers.´ "

They keep saying this. It is as though none of them have bothered to read the case law on the subject. U.S. v. Miller specifically says the Second Amendment protects the ownership of military-type weapons appropriate for use in an organized militia.

Feinstein pulled a Clinton and Boxer stance.
She touted her long experience in government and that she was insulted by what she called a lecture. Well, she´s old, decrepid, self centered, old, moss covered, individual who needs to be replaced.

She never answered the question because the answer would be the simple direct truth and that would not do.

She should retire or be thrown out of office.

No. 3, I´m glad the Senate is spending time on this. If it spent more time on taxes and spending, those things would just be more screwed up. I know, I know--how could those things be screwed up even more than they are now? Well, they could since big-government Republicans and Democrats (saying "big-government" for the Democratss would just be redundant) appear to control both the Senate and the House.

Oh, for some more politicians in the mold of Ted Cruz.

Dems don´t care about "assault weapons." Their real objective is the universal background check, which will be framed as "common sense," which it is not, as it is a precurser to confiscation. The deadly serious trouble with gun control starts in 2015 if the democrats take the House. Anything can happen with creepy obama, holder, feinstein et al unconstrained. Grab a tight rein.

More people killed by knives, clubs, fists, and strangulation than by AR-15 type rifles. The Dems intentions are clear...step by step eliminate the second amendment. They are frightened of an armed society as well they should be. Even though poor at history they remember the American and French revolutions. The Declaration of Independence spell its out...tyrannical governments should be overthrown by force if necessary.

´Assault weapons´ reminds me of that ´fast and furious´ program. How is that investigation going, MAIN STREAM MEDIA? Not enough irony for you? No one coming forward? Imagine if Bush had forced an AZ gun dealer to sell hundreds of weapons to obvious drug gang members. No, paid progressives, Operation Buckboard or Rawhide, whatever the small effort at tracking illegal gun sales during Bush´s term, was NOT the same as Fast and Furious, but you win, no one cares.

This potential law is a bother only for law abiding gun owners, and surely not for criminals, and the criminally insane who are intent on setting out on their own personal suicide by cop mission, as criminals and the criminally insane do not obey such laws.

Magpul Industries, a leading firearms accessories maker, will relocate its extensive manufacturing facilities to Texas and Wyoming in response to the Colorado legislature’s enactment of sweeping gun control legislation last year, the company announced Thursday. At the same time, the company plans to maintain a toehold in Colorado to continue to fight the gun control bills passed by the Democrat-dominated General Assembly and signed in March by Gov.
