Pepsi´s video of NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon pulling a prank on an unsuspecting car salesman is going viral, racking up more than 1.4 million views since being uploaded Tuesday. Gordon, a champion NASCAR driver, disguised himself for the video and pretended he´d never driven a powerful car before, then gives the car salesman the test drive of a lifetime in a Camaro.

That video is the funniest thing I´ve seen in long time! It´s real. I can´t believe how Jeff Gordon can handle a car! WOW!

I thought it was one of the funniest things I´ve seen . I´ve watched it a number of times since Tuesday and still wonder how the poor salesman lived through it. I thought he was going to have the ´big one´.

Great prank! Hopefully they made sure the salesman had a healthy heart before subjecting him to....shear terror! LOL

From what I´ve read the past few days, the video is staged. The cup holder is not standard equipment, and the can is where they "hid" the camera.

Video is still good, but fake.

I roared laughing. I also remember the faces of my fellow learning-to-drive members when certain people took the wheel. I think the instructor was on heavy valium.

There´s no way that Pepsi and Jeff Gordon would dare to pull this "prank" without the saleman being in on it. There would be a very good chance that the guy would, as #2 said, have a coronary. That would make it one great ad that carried a multimillion dollar price tag...at the very least.
Great ad, though - I couldn´t stop laughing.

#4 is probably correct that it was staged......Much like our Congress.

I am pretty sure that the car salesman in the video is someone I have seen in other commercials. It was still fun.

Reply 10 - Posted by: kono, 3/15/2013 8:54:37 AM     (No. 9226173)

YouTube post now fesses up that this is basically a ´reality´ ad -- scripted to look like it´s unscripted. The salesman was not unaware.

But it´s still an outstandingly fun commercial. I´ll probably watch it a few more times before it gets stale.

Reply 11 - Posted by: Alibi Inn, 3/15/2013 8:58:32 AM     (No. 9226179)

Staged or not, it brought back GREAT memories of hot-rodding and joy-riding in my ´66 Mopar, all the while while my friend "Jeff" (RIP) would don Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble masks!

Reply 12 - Posted by: TunnelRat, 3/15/2013 9:12:42 AM     (No. 9226204)

I enjoyed the ad, but could not understand why it was necessary for the driver to wear a disguise. Who the heck is Jeff Gordon, and why would anyone ´recognize´ him...?

Fake but accurate.

#12 - try using google or wiki to find out basics about a name you don´t recognize, before you embarrass yourself in front of everybody. It´s almost like someone saying "Who the heck is Eli Manning?" or "Who the heck is Kobe Bryant?"

(Hint: Jeff Gordon´s been among the top, top stars of NASCAR for over 20 years -- and car dealers across the country tend to recognize those guys.)

Reply 15 - Posted by: tank, 3/15/2013 10:00:43 AM     (No. 9226349)

Fun ad, but I knew it wasn´t Gordon driving from the start.

The guy in the ad could turn the wheel both ways.

Reply 16 - Posted by: enuf8, 3/15/2013 11:40:00 AM     (No. 9226608)

His driving was much better than the guy who flip his car on I-35 in Austin------he took out at least 16 Brand new Hyundai vehicles which were parked at the front of the dealership--his car flipping over them. The damage his flip didn´t do, a massive light pole he hit did the rest. Estimated $700K damage at first glance. Search for KTBC TV,KEYE or one of the Austin,Tx. TV stations.
Oh yes, the driver of the flipping car apparently was capable of leaving the scene and cops were searching for him.

Olympia, Wash. - Republicans are in position to extend their recent gains among governors as they compete for seats they haven’t won in a quarter-century. Of the 11 states with gubernatorial elections in November, eight are now led by Democrats, and each of the most competitive races is a GOP pickup opportunity. The numbers suggests that Republicans soon will claim 30 to 33 governorships after holding just 22 a few years ago — an advantage not reflected in the divided Congress or competitive presidential race. “It says that when people are choosing the government closest to the people,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth.
