Obama: Only Canada would profit from Keystone XL

| President Obama told a group of House Republicans at a closed-door meeting on Wednesday that the long-delayed Keystone XL pipeline won’t profit anyone but Canada. Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb., told the Associated Press that Obama said the benefits of the project have been overstated because many of the jobs created would be temporary, and much of the oil produced from the pipeline would be exported. “He said there were no permanent jobs, and that the oil will be put on ships and exported and that the only ones who are going to get wealthy are the Canadians,” Terry said.

Comments: Really?? He´s not only out of touch, he´s insane. I´m beginning to think he never stopped his behavior like that of when he was a member of the Choom Gang. Some of the things he says are shocking and delusional.

He clearly doesn´t understand supply-and-demand. The more oil available to the world-market, the cheaper it will be for all consumers. How hard is that?

"Temporary" means years and years in this case. Does this moron think the pipeline would be built overnight? It´s not even shovel ready. Plus, who cares if the oil is exported? Or is he going to just give it away? Exports mean revenue for the U.S. but apparently getting revenue legitimately without raising taxes is anathema to Zero.

Pretty much it was generally accepted that the United States´ closest allies (at least up until 2009) were the United Kingdom, Canada, Israel, Japan and Australia.
Fast forward to 2013. Is there one of those nations that BHO has not gone out of his way to insult, endanger, or undermine over the past 4+ years?
Meanwhile he licks the boots and bows down to the likes of Chavez in Venezuela, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and every other sworn enemy of the United States.
It´s incredible. No one else sees this?

Agree w/ 8 and #12. Canada is our closest neighbor. If it benefits them, why not help? At least we get the benefit of "temporary" jobs - at a time when we really need it. If the oil gets here and is exported, then there will be permanent jobs for dock workers and others employed at ports. Of course, those workers will be in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi and the Dems are not going to get their kickbacks from those states.

Adding 800,000 bbl per day to the world´s oil supply would result in lower refined oil prices. How does this not benefit America? The answer is that it does benefit America, but the Fascist Obama (like his former Energy Secretary Chu) is committed to $8 per gallon gasoline to help his fascist Green friends like Gore and Immelt.

If I understand correctly the oil in the pipeline is sent to US refineries and then the gasoline will be put on the world market where we get at least fifty percent of our supply. The Arabs sometimes hold back their supply to raise prices, but the Canadian oil will tend to lower prices here. If the prices are lower here it does not bode so well with the environmentalists who blame gasoline engines for global warming. I am old and have read Rachael Carson´s book, Silent Spring, from the 70´s in which the great environmental hype then was the "Coming Ice Age". Is our country a bunch of fools?

I would rather see Canada, our neighbor and friend get fabulously wealthy than send another dollar, as little as it is to the Saudi´s who only pretend to be our friends and who fund the terrorists who wish to hurt this country. Obama sees and knows this but blood is thicker than water and our Marxist, Muslim president wants America downsized...the heck with jobs, he wants more people on the welfare rolls depending on the government handout. Look at the wonderland that Chicago and Detroit are, and they are Democratic utopias...California and New York are working hard to match them.

Because of the huge supply of the western oil sands and shortage of pipelines the base price of oil in western Canada is depressed vs the rest of north america. Keystone will benefit everybody. The alternate pipeline to the pacific coast in Canada is being planned but not yet in place. There are plans for a rail line with trains to haul the oil to connect with the shipping terminal from the Alaska pipeline. If the US didn´t use or benefit from getting cheaper raw oil supply it could export the oil for more than it paid for it through the gulf coast ports!

O´s big buddy ´Warren Buffoon´ has a railroad that he admitted recently is moving 500,000 barrels of oil per day.
Article:
John Hinderaker posted an article at Power Line today entitled,”Blocking the Keystone Pipeline: Who Benefits?”
Mr. Hinderaker points out:
If the Obama administration holds firm on blocking Keystone, the big loser will be TransCanada Corporation. But who will the big winners be? American railroads:
And of them, the biggest winner might just be the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate controlled by Obama supporter and Omaha billionaire Warren Buffett.
In December, the CEO of BNSF, Matthew Rose, said that his railroad was shipping about 500,000 barrels of oil per day out of the Bakken Shale in North Dakota and that it was seeking a permit to send “crude by rail to the Pacific Northwest.” He also said the railroad expects to “eventually” be shipping 1 million barrels of oil per day.
-> Isn’t it an incredible coincidence that Warren Buffet, one of President Obama’s biggest supporters, will benefit greatly if the pipeline is stopped. Who will lose? American workers who need jobs.

"He said there were no permanent jobs."
I see no real reason to doubt the veracity of these reports. It´s as if President Obama doesn´t know that we will ship finished product to countries without refineries. That work has do be done by people. It´s work. For people. In the United States. As long as the oil flows. Which step can he not understand? This is the output of Harvard Law? (I´m prejudiced, only trust lawyers who are secure enough to wear bolos.)
#3 - Significant sections are already under construction. These parts will be underutilized should the XL segments go unbuilt. So it´s beyond shovels. There are backhoes in motion. Wasn´t that a Billy Squier hit?

US refineries were optimized for very heavy oil. They would actually prefer to process a mix of US and Canadian oil and export some of the light sweet TX oil. The oil from tar sands is more expensive to produce so it creates a buffer in case oil prices fall.

It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

Amid all of the very real threats of war and stuff from North Korea, you´d think American intelligence officers want as much video footage of the enemy as possible. Well, here is one video featuring North Korean exercises and Kim Jong-Un holding a gun, and we´ll say this: they certainly get points for presentation. Remember the clap-happy report from Dennis Rodman´s diplomatic basketball vacation? This video comes courtesy of the same Youtube channel that gave us that Rodman video. It appears to be the same state news channel.(Snip for video)This latest dispatch from North Korea´s state television

Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors.
