How Your Retirement Package
Compares to Members of Congress

CNBC, by Paul O´Donnell

Original Article

Posted By:ketchuplover, 3/14/2013 1:39:06 AM

While extending the payroll tax cut through the end of last year, members of Congress last fall took what many feel was a long overdue whack at the cost of their retirement plan. They bumped up the rate at which federal employees contribute to their pension plan, saving an estimated $15 billion over the next 11 years. They also made sure that none of the increase applied to themselves. Anyone in service before the law went into effect would pay into the pension plan at the old rate. It’s up to you to stop ObamaCare

At the RedState Gathering in New Orleans on Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz called for a grassroots effort to persuade Republicans to eliminate funding for President Obama’s health care law. Or as he put it, the “biggest and the most important battle 113th Congress is going to face” — the battle to defund ObamaCare. Senator Cruz told the gathering of Conservative activists that the best way to defund ObamaCare is with the continuing resolution needed to fund the federal government after the current continuing resolution expires on Sept. 30, 2013. Whatever the opposite of a charm offensive is, President Obama is on it. In Chicago on July 24, Obama delivered an hour-long speech in which he complained that “with this endless parade of distractions and political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball.” The mother of one of the four Americans murdered at the U.S. diplomatic facility in Benghazi immediately objected. “He’s wrong. My son is dead. How could that be phony?” A short while later, Obama was at it again. Describing an Oval Office visit with the Vietnamese president Truong Tan Song, Mr. Obama

In large swaths of conservative America, the thinking is that the Republican who may be best positioned to win the White House is not really a Republican. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is branded with a four-letter word, RINO (Republican In Name Only). Pundit Ann Coulter declares that Christie is "dead" to her. Talk radio poobah Rush Limbaugh says Christie will be the 2016 presidential nominee – for the Democrats. Meanwhile, liberals and moderates see him as a Republican they could learn to like, if not love. Bill Clinton invited him for a friendly chit-chat on stage to culminate his

For nearly a year, we have had no answer to why the administration lied about Benghazi — why it told the world, not to mention the parents of our murdered SEALs at the funeral of their sons, that the cause of that fatal conflagration was an anti-Islamic video no one saw, when the various arms of our executive branch (White House, State and intelligence) already knew, or strongly suspected, it was a terror attack orchestrated by al-Qaeda affiliates. You only have to read the now infamous talking points to know that. That this lie was deeply immoral is obvious.
