| On Jan. 29, I wrote a piece that described North Korea´s strategy as a combination of ferocious, weak and crazy. In the weeks since then, three events have exemplified each facet of that strategy. Pyongyang showed its ferocity Feb. 12, when it detonated a nuclear device underground. The country's only significant ally, China, voted against Pyongyang in the U.N. Security Council on March 7, demonstrating North Korea's weakness.

After 50 years this is getting old. Here´s a message to the little rotund pos in Pyongyang. (He´s easy to find at night because his hut is the only one with electricity.) You have 30 days to dismantle all your nuclear capability and deliver it to the border. On day 31 pyongyang and its immediate surroundings will cease to exist. As you may be aware, this will not be the first or maybe last time we will use our nuclear capability. Based on our experience with japan, this is the way to go. You can make this happen sooner by firing any missiles or artillery rounds in the meantime. PS. we are sending you jane fonda and dennis rodman to interpret this for you.

What #3 said is very true. Our troops in Vietnam had a world of respect for the ROKs, for they did not mess about. When they caught a North Vietnamese spy they nailed him to the front gate of their compound and left him there suspended by a foot long metal spike through his forehead.
During a pitched battle when American forces were a short distance away, the American commander heard all the gunshots and explosions, and radioed the ROK commander, asking if they needed any assistance. "Negative," came the reply. A while later as the noises of war were fading away, the Americans radioed back, asking again if they needed any reinforcement. Quoth the ROK commander: "Enemy been eliminated."
The insane Kim clan needs to be eliminated. If a shot is fired in anger on the Norks, that first round should have Kim Jong-Eun´s name on it. And the Norks won´t have to weep any crocodile tears, either.

According to this analysis, the scenario where the North launches an attack and bets that a cease fire will be called before the US intervenes is very plausible with BO in charge. He is slow to action and is sympathetic to the Communists. It is likely he would do little except talk.
The North reinforces its reputation as a threat but suffers little retaliation. The new thug in charge builds his rep. The only risk is if the South takes strong military action in response.

THE Korean Peninsula is closer to military conflict than at any time since 1994. Beyond his wild rhetoric threatening nuclear war, the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un, has taken two of the most extreme actions open to him. He has decided to re-start his five megawatt nuclear reactor at Yongbyon. And he has banned South Koreans from entering the joint industrial zone in Kaesong which is responsible for much of the hard currency Pyongyang gets.Meanwhile, he is provoking tough reactions in Washington and Seoul. US Secretary of State John Kerry declared the US will not accept a nuclear-armed North Korea.

The New York Times recently reported that China apparently has agreed to take over the operations of a $200 million port it built for Pakistan in Gwadar, on the Indian Ocean close to the Iranian border and close to the entrance to the Persian Gulf. We´ll see if this actually happens. If it does, it will be geopolitically significant. To a greater degree than other Indian Ocean ports that China has either built, helped finance or upgraded, Gwadar is plagued by considerable security problems, as I found out during a visit there in 2008. It is in a remote region of Pakistan affected by Baloch separatism. And Baloch leaders I interviewed specifically threatened the building of a Chinese pipeline from Gwadar.

The majority of territory outside Tripoli has fallen under the control of armed militias that have refused to disarm. Violent campaigns along tribal and ideological lines have been waged by Libyans determined to settle old scores and influence the ongoing political transition. With Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez unable to attend the inauguration ceremony marking his sixth term of office, attention quickly shifted to whether the relevant constitutional clause granting presidential powers to the president of the National Assembly -- in this case Diosdado Cabello -- would be honored within 90 days. In a fanciful interpretation of the constitution, however, the Supreme Court decided otherwise. It granted Mr. Chavez the right to an indefinite absence and charged Vice President Nicolas Maduro with the task of governing Venezuela on Mr. Chavez´s behalf.

Governance in the United States is at a standoff. The crisis over the federal budget has led many people around the world to wonder if Americans haven´t lost their minds. Ultimately, as Winston Churchill infamously observed, they may be counted on to do the right thing after exhausting all other options. But this hardly is sound policy with every new vote in Congress. Maybe the latest crisis is symptomatic of a deeper and even more serious problem. The future of the United States - and the American experiment - seems bleak. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
