Two Senators
Wall Street Journal, by Peggy Noonan

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 3/11/2013 9:26:29 AM

This is from not-for-attribution interviews with two Republican senators who attended the dinner with the president on Wednesday night at the Jefferson Hotel in Washington. One was heartened and impressed by the meeting while retaining his skepticism as to whether it might open the way to pronounced progress in pursuit of a so-called grand bargain. The other was more optimistic and left the meeting moved. Each independently mentioned one aspect of the conversation that troubled them both: The president, while friendly and forthcoming, seemed to withdraw somewhat when talk turned to continuing the process. Both senators said

Comments:
There are some interesting relevations in this article. 0bama has nothing to offer at a meeting like this because he is incapable of one original thought and being a real leader. Without his puppeteers by his side, i.e., Jarrett, Soros, et al, he can´t function. If anyone thinks he is sincere they are a fool. The Republicans are being played as political pawns once again.

FTA they pay in a buck and get three [in medicare]

It is easy to look at the history of payments made on my account to medicare over the years, add on 3% inflation, and then subtract the gov estimated future payments over the remainder of my life. Fact is, I will (statistically) receive far less than I paid in. My offer is - return my contributions with 3% growth, and cancel my medicare.

Peggy thinks that Obama doesn´t think he can negotiate personally with republicans because either

a) he is so hated by republicans nothing can get done
b) he exaggerates the power of the republican base to nix compromise
c) it´s just an excuse to make the other side give in more

How about d? He´s more afraid of the media and the way they would trash him if he actually did something to fix the problems besides criticize republicans

I suggest a variation of the Reagan philosophy of dealing with the Soviet Union when Republicans "deal" with Obama.

Verify then trust (as opposed to Trust but Verify).

Honestly, if Obama told me the sun was shining at high noon, I´d look out the window before I believed him.

Again, he has been propelled in life by his race. He has not been tempered by the normal process of private industry nor governership, nor time in a leadership position. He has no clue on how to lead, becase he hasn´t had the experience. It is like playing some catholic girls´ school every Friday night and thinking you can line up against Notre Dame. Noone in the press will just rip away the curtain and expose just how weak his life experience has been and how far in over his head he is. Perhaps, historians will. He is,quite frankly,...a joke. You don´t let your wife crank up the 757 and jet to Aspen, when she couldn´t ski down my front lawn, while the country is languishing in it´s 5th year of your recession. It is not the right exposure to rally the country. And if you can´control your wife, you have no expectation of leading a dispirited nation.

Puke thy name is Republican. Honestly, how dumb are those Republicans? I can safely say that there is not an ounce of wisdom in the entire group of Repubs that were there. We are in worse trouble than I thought and the only answer from the Brand Republicans is to elect more of the stupid people to office. How can anyone seriously try to spin the lack of any insight among the Repubs. They are so sure the Prez can be reasoned with. It is like trying to talk a shark out of eating your guts out. President Obama marveled at the sheer size of the Colosseum during a private sightseeing tour Thursday night in Rome. "This is bigger than some current baseball stadiums," Obama told reporters, noting the size exceeded Wrigley Field in his hometown of Chicago. "I have to check on what it seats. It´s remarkable. Unbelievable." The amphitheatre, located in central Rome, was constructed between 70 and 80 A.D., and was estimated to hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators. The Colosseum was home to gladiator battles and animal hunts during the Roman Empire. Obama walked along a platform running through the center of the

The Obama administration is considering whether to require that television broadcasts of emergency announcements be provided in different languages. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Thursday said it is reconsidering a rule that would provide Spanish broadcasts of emergency alerts and other important announcements. The rule was originally recommended in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Back then, groups including the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council (MMTC) petitioned the FCC to require broadcasters to notify Spanish listeners in the event of an emergency. "MMTC filed its petition on Sept. 22, 2005, in response to its perceived deficiencies in distributing multilingual emergency information

Passing comprehensive immigration reform is more important than Democrats´ success at the polls in November, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday. A number of Republicans and other conservative voices have accused Pelosi and the Democrats of using the immigration reform issue as a political crutch, suggesting the Democrats would rather keep the issue alive for campaign purposes than actually pass a bill. But Pelosi on Thursday rejected that notion outright, and she didn´t mince words. The unethical and illegal behavior of Democratic state senators in California, where Democrats have total control of the state legislature, is giving the state’s Democratic Party concerns that the GOP may use the misbehavior to regain power. The Republican Party´s rising Senate prospects are forcing House Republicans to craft a health care agenda that could function as a feasible legislative blueprint for overhauling Obamacare in January 2015. The Republican-controlled House has approved legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act and reform aspects of the law several times, only to see the bills die in a Democratic-led Senate that is committed to preserving the law. That dynamic would change if Republicans win six Democratic-held seats and assume control of the Senate in November, as appears increasingly possible. On Tuesday night two things happened. 1. A trio of Secret Service agents were sent home from Amsterdam after one was found passed out drunk in a hotel hallway. 2. The Obama Administration announced (another) extension of the enrollment deadline for Obamacare signups. At first glance, these two events have little in common with one another. But, modern politics is all about narratives and storylines. And, both of these events confirm a growing concern from the public about President Obama: That he´s just not up to governing his administration and, by extension, the country, effectively.
