Why Is America Facing Economic and Societal Turmoil?

| How did the United States, a country founded on the principle of individual freedom and having achieved great wealth and world influence, find itself in its present financial and societal predicament? Until the bulk of the American citizenry understands the why, there is no hope of reversing the nation´s headlong plunge into the abyss. The history of mankind is replete with the rise and fall of major civilizations.

Hope this becomes a ´Must Read´. A very factual and frank assessment of where we´re at in this country. I´m surprised the author doesn´t dig into the media´s role in this disaster we now call the US Government. Without their incessant cheerleading of everything Marxist, and denigration of everything Patriotic, we may have had a chance to save the republic before it became too late.

They are happy with their meger lives. All the talk radio conservitaves are preacing to the choir. The Gimmies are not the least bit interested in becoming informed. A republic as founded is designed for the informed voter.I am afraid that only GOD can resolve this dilemma

Pride. Pure and simple. If we instill national pride in our children we will have a proud nation. We must show the world thru personal example that we are the best. Wave the flag, show your patriotism, be a proud American. Stand up for your flag and country. Real corn-ball...but is works and is what it takes to get that pride rolling again! We all have to do it!!

This country is not going to work. The productive and responsible will have to move somewhere else. Look at a congressional committee hearing, look at the representatives, and get ready to pack.

Too late, folks. We have already lost most if not all freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. If you think you have freedom of speech in this country try going through one single day saying what you really think about everything you see, encounter and experience. You won´t last the day. You will be in jail, hospital or dead before dark.
How many law abiding citizens have been locked up for supposedly violating some screwy law that, contrary to the Second Amendment, infringes on your Constitutional rights?
I´ve just reached the Second Amendment. The list goes on and on. PC rules!

Remember the quote to the effect that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing?
We´re declining because "good men" and women stand by and whine instead of acting. Last election is a case in point. "Mittens" ran a bad campaign, blew the GOTV and had a weak message as a mushy moderate--but that shouldn´t have mattered. If we really cared, he´d have won.

I disagree with two of the author´s premises.
First, the Founders did anticipate this situation and that is why there was a literacy component for suffrage. Second we have had the catastrophe that Europe suffered in the First and Second World Wars, ours was called the American Civil War.

Economics are in trouble because we have embraced the "fairness" of socialism paid for by over taxing the producers and subsidizing those who feel "entitiled" as created by those in government shopping for votes to stay in power.
Societal breakdown is because we have turned our face away from God Almighty. We have lost our moral compass and the media has cast the religious as moral zealots who are the enemy of the godless who do whatever they will and the government will take care of them.
We have become what the Founders sought to avoid although there are still plenty of good people out there--but it is now ridiculed to stand up on moral grounds against the media favored "pop culture" heros like the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boos.

The thread is starting to unravel on the fabric of lies surrounding the Benghazi 911 incident woven by the president, his secretary of state, and their political appointees. An important step is that ABC News has broken the story that the talking points fingering mobs enraged by the video were the result of no less than 11 revisions taking out references to Al Qaeda. This brings the MSM into the story. Even MSNBC was covering ABC´s story this morning.

The left is going into irrational overdrive because the Koch brothers may buy the LA Times: "Common Cause, Daily Kos, Free Press and Courage Campaign are among the groups protesting the sale to the conservative financiers, calling them "radical right wing ideologues." A sale of the company is considered imminent." We hear that "half" of the staff will quit! I guess that must be the "half" of the staff still working there after all of the job cuts in recent years.

A massive screw-up by the state of California is being brushed off by Governor Jerry Brown with a barnyard expression: "Sh*t happens." The new eastern span of the Bay Bridge, a multi-billion dollar endeavor, turns out to have used faulty bolts to fasten the bridge to its pier. "A third out of 96 threaded steel rods -- 3 inches thick and 9 to 24 feet long -- snapped in early March after crews tightened them down with nuts."

Jesse Jackson Jr., the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus wrote to a federal judge last month calling Jackson intelligent, charming and entertaining - the "highlight of our karaoke nights." Short answer - not yet. For all the words spread around recently about impeaching Obama over Benghazi, there is a curious ommission made in every single article and blog post I´ve read that advocates or predicts that Obama will be impeached. They all seem to be missing the words "high crimes and misdemeanors." Yes, I know - that silly Constitution seems to get in the way of our fun. But in order to impeach a president, you can´t just connect a few dots and proclaim conspiracy. There must be proof - hard proof

Of course, this would cause embarrassment for the Obama team, especially in the few weeks before the election. They had been boasting for years that Al Qaeda had been decimated(snip)Ben Rhodes should be called to account for trying to divert blame away from Islamic terrorists and the Obama team members whose feckless negligence led to the Benghazi massacre.

There is something strange about the fast-rising European "crypto fascist" movements. They are peas in a pod -- with similar political programs, and similar nationalist and anti-capitalist rhetoric. Why doesn´t he care that PP´s founder was a radical racist eugenicist Last Friday, Obama became the first sitting president to address a Planned Parenthood national conference. In his introductory remarks, Obama paid homage to a "health clinic" (one of his many euphemisms) which opened in Brooklyn "nearly a hundred years ago." As a presidential speech writer for the first Bush White House, I am always very interested in what presidents say in their formal speeches. They know, of course, that their remarks will be widely covered by the press, studied by analysts, and influential in contemporary political debates. For that reason, presidents rarely speak off-the-cuff, and their every word is carefully chosen for exactly the message the White House wants to convey to the public. Their graduation speeches, like all presidential addresses, go through many drafts and are reviewed by high-level administration officials

The White House on Wednesday stood by its story that the Obama administration remained unsure exactly who was responsible for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi nearly five days after it occurred even though new revelations show Ansar al-Sharia’s direct involvement. Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya and a self-described whistleblower, testified before a Congressional committee Wednesday that the body of Ambassador J. Christpher Stevens was missing for hours during the attack after being dragged out of the diplomatic post in Benghazi.

Northwestern University continued to stumble over diversity issues this week as Mexican students voiced disagreement with a campuswide letter that advised students not to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by engaging in racially-offensive activities, such as eating tacos and drinking tequila. The letter was sent to students via e-mail, and published in The Daily Northwestern last week. Leaders of Alianza, a Latino student group, and the Associated Student Government called on students to remember that Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over France in the Battle of Puebla. It is not a day to throw a sombrero-themed party, they said.

There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. When it became clear last fall that the CIA’s now discredited Benghazi talking points were flawed, the White House said repeatedly the document were put together almost entirely by the intelligence community, but White House documents reviewed by Congress suggest a different story. ABC News has obtained 12 different versions of the talking points that show they were extensive edited as they evolved from the drafts first written entirely by the CIA to the final version distributed to Congress and to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice before she appeared on five talk shows the Sunday after that attack.

Fans of Glenn Beck are complaining about what I wrote yesterday about his speech at the National Rifle Association convention, where he used a giant image of Michael Bloomberg photoshopped into what appeared to be an image of Hitler with his arm raised in a Nazi salute and wearing an armband. The Beck crowd now tells me that it wasn’t Hitler’s picture into which the New York mayor was transposed but that of Communist leader Vladimir Lenin. They say that means I owe Beck an apology along with the Anti-Defamation League and others who were also outraged by it.

John McCain is going to release a bill that would dismantle cable as it´s currently constructed, Brenden Sasso at The Hill reports. The legislation would force cable companies and satellite TV providers to give consumers an option to pick and choose which channels they get. This is called "à la carte programming," and it´s long been a dream of consumers who only want a handful of channels. McCain tried to introduce similar legislation in 2006 and it went nowhere.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service is apologizing for inappropriately flagging conservative political groups for additional reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status. Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS unit that oversees tax-exempt groups, said organizations that included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status were singled out for additional reviews. Lerner said the practice, initiated by low-level workers in Cincinnati, was wrong and she apologized while speaking at a conference in Washington. Many conservative groups complained during the election
