| Ryan believes that he can save $770 billion over 10 years if Obamacare is repealed. All those Obamacare tax increases would be repealed too, and his proposal includes sending Medicaid block grants to states. This begs the question of where Ryan finds all those savings? Especially since without mandated insurance, there are still going to be millions of people uncovered. The uninsured aren’t going to just disappear, and there are at least 20 million of them. And they get sick. When they can’t pay the bill, government has to step in and pay it anyway. Still, Ryan’s point is valid

I´m a big fan of this young man and I hope he´s given enough time to show what he really can do without members of his own party hacking away at every effort. At some point we have to stop sniping and start doing.

The uninsured aren’t going to just disappear, and there are at least 20 million of them.
That number is just as fictitious as "11 million illegal" aliens, after decades of 12 million illegals.
How do they get the figure "20 million"--do they count all the people who financially would qualify for Medicaid, but haven´t applied because they haven´t needed medical care?? Do they count the millions of young people who earn more than $40k per year, yet choose to spend their money on things other than health insurance?? Are they counting the 11 million or 12 million illegal aliens who depend on Hospital Emergency Rooms for "free" medical care, regardless of their wealth, income or residency status?
How can any thinking person depend on the "truth" from any spokesperson representing the current regime--or the propaganda machine that supports them??

20 million? The CBO estimates that 30 million will be uninsured under Obamacare. Thus, it has already failed in its two primary selling points, lowering cost and covering the uninsured. I am all for repeal!

I was disappointed by Rep. Ryan this morning. His position is at best a good "opening salvo" in the budget negotiations. If Reid doesn´t pronounce it DOA, the Emperor will veto it.
We lost the election. Obamacare will not be repealed until 2017 even with the best of luck (a conservative clean sweep of WH, Senate, and House). Best we can do until then is tinker with the funding of various provisions as part of a budget deal, and force a budget deal by denying any more CRs.
Will the Pubs do it? I´m not optimistic.

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

In a poll conducted by PoliceOne, a majority of law enforcement personnel said universal background checks, "assault weapons" bans, and "high capacity" magazine bans do not make police safer and will not lower violent crime. Armed citizens, on the other hand, do make a positive difference. In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.
