Reality Check[s]:
(1) There is no such thing as an Assault Weapon (unless you want to include Apache gunships, amphibious assault vessels, etc).
[2] There are such things as Assault Rifles,
see "Strumgehwer" and "MP-43/StG44". And none of these semi-automatic look-alikes are one.
[3] There is no FUNCTIONAL differences between a Bushmaster .223 and the 1950´s vintage Winchester .243 caliber Model 100 hunting rifle I used as a teen-ager. Both are semi-automatic rifles with removable magazines. Except the Winchester fired a more powerful cartridge.

As sorry as I am for what happened to his wife, Gabby Giffords, there is something suspect and very noxious that surrounds him and all he does. Seeing him fawning on the Wookie during the SOTU address was the last straw for me. Nobody spends that kind of money just to make a point when there is no point made by the action in the first place. Is Kelly going to go on a shooting spree?? Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.”
