| THE Senate confirmed John O. Brennan as director of the Central Intelligence Agency on Thursday after a nearly 13-hour filibuster by the libertarian senator Rand Paul, who before the vote received a somewhat odd letter from the attorney general. “It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: ‘Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?’ ” the attorney general, Eric H. Holder Jr., wrote to Mr. Paul. “The answer to that question is no.” The senator, whose filibuster

Actually it´s quite simple to know when all these troubling questions about drone strikes will be answered and when the MSM and massive public protests will be launched against the President...When there´s a Republican President again.

With his propensity for lying does it matter what he says? There´s this little thing about lying to infidels. If he wants to drop a drone bomb on your head, he´ll do it, and the media will cover for him and his ratings will go up, cause you see, it can´t be his fault. That drone took off all by itself, nobody knows why. Sad state we are in.

If they are:
1. an opposition group like the TEA Party...
2. Objecting to Obama´s little power grabs by fiat...
3. carrying some kind of weapon...
... Then they are ´in combat´!!

Good grief. Obama declared war on us that day just prior to the 2008 election when he said ´We are five days away from fundamentally transforming this nation´´.
You don´t have a desire to transform ANYTHING ´fundamentally´ if you love it. Fundamental means from the foundation, or the Founders perhaps? He was then and remains today, this minute, determined to remake this country into his vision and version of utopia, of ´fairness for all.´ And because he sees this as a war between himself and his followers, and the rest of us, we therefore are the enemy. We are ALL considered enemies, and probably enemy combatants as well. If we post here or elsewhere, if we put things up on Facebook or out in the Twitterverse, or we forward emails around to our friends, we are engaging in progressive-style combat.
Because this is what THEY do. They consider themselves warriors, foot soldiers, in their war against us, the bourgeois.
OF COURSE we are their enemies! We should not be so stupid as to wait for him to define the term. He would only define it HIS WAY, which is to obfuscate, blur, and outright LIE.
IT´S WHAT THEY DO.

The NYT asks the wrong question here:
But is it well past time for the United States government to specify, precisely, its views on whom it thinks it can kill in the struggle against Al Qaeda and other terrorist forces? The answer is yes.
"...in the struggle against Al Qaeda and other terrorist forces" can mean survivalists, Tea Party activists and anyone who doesn´t go along with them.
This is dangerous.

I posted this reply on Mar 7. Article: "Obama administration responds to Paul on drones"...
You have to parse every syllable with these shysters. "engaged in combat"
Combat 1. To oppose in battle; fight against. 2. To oppose vigorously; struggle against.
So it all depends on the use of the term combat. Combat: Struggling against. Wouldn´t combat be applicable to people vigorously opposing the President´s policies then? If so, we´re right back where we were.

There are many questions to be asked and most should be aimed at Nappy and the DHS . Put all the loose threads together and a very disturbing pattern emerges . The government is not arming itself in prep for a foreign invasion , but a civil uprising . She has purchased as much ammo as possible , light armored vehicles , and they tried to sneak drones into the air . ElPresidente´ can now jail anyone he wishes without so much as a trial . They are spying on the internet and e-mails . These are FACTS , not right -wing- kookery . Stand in line all day for ammo all day if you have to .

#12, we all know what we posted the other day when this first came up. The definition of "engaged in combat" needs to be answered in full and without purpose of evasion.
The response from Holder was obviously written by an evasive lawyer who was told to come up with wording that skirted the issue and gave them an out when the need to kill civilians by drones came up. You can bet that this administration will never give a straight answer to anything to do with protecting the American People from the evil actions of this obama administration.

So, the way I see it is if a group were to get togather and begin training for the next revolution, which I don´t know if any law forbids that, then Obozo could claim that they are "terriosts" and send in the armed drones to eliminate them. Am I correct? Are we, as American citizens, starting to be denied the right to peacefully assemble? Training for combat is still peaceful, isn´t it? If my assment of the past 4+ years is any good, Obozo gets to define pretty much whatever he wants to. And the MSM backs him up.

Sorry for the second post, but I can´t resist pointing out the utter absurdity of the liberal defenders of the Obama/Holder Doctrine of Unlimited Right to Kill by Drone.
In the case of killing a US citizen who is a suspected terrorist while he is in the US, the obvious question is why would this even be considered? If the drone can spot him, authorities can be notified and they can either arrest him or (on the same drone-presumption of guilt and presidential authority) kill him with a bullet rather than with a messy and expensive missile.
So in essence, the current "liberal" view is that the President can create a kill list of presumed terrorists, and without warrant/arrest/trial can send "something/someone" to kill the suspect on the spot. Pretty amazing new liberal position.

I recl in the late 90s thereabouts, the LAPD was using a then-new infra-red scope or scanner. I do not know the protoclo but they´d drive dn the street and see if any of the houses had a big heat signature. this bright heat revelation would indicate the big draw-down of electricity. The could compare it to reg houses heat. So either raids were done or the infrared infor was key part of a warrant, and the judges said no on the infra-red being shined on houses as there was no probable cause. A house was just sitting there and there was no criminal activity visible. All this should available in the news articles of the time So this NO from the court on Infra-red scanning can be applied to drone use too. There is no probable cause to photo or view Americans doing and living their lives. No Probable cause, no judicial orders, no drones.

I am always amazed — amazed — when anyone has the gall to dismiss, even laugh off, the suggestion that the right to keep and bear arms is a smart and necessary provision for a free society. Human history (not to mention current events!) is too chock-full of examples of nefarious regimes violently abusing and controlling their people, and the freedoms enjoyed by American citizens are the exception, not the rule. During a committee hearing of the Oregon state senate in considering their own state package of gun-control legislation last week, one testifier reminded the assembled lawmakers of one

My mouth dropped when I found out. A teardrop tattoo can mean he murdered someone. So I hired someone else. Plastic surgeons and dermatologists are seeing more and more people who want their tattoos removed, often because they worry that the tattoos could cause problems with employment. Andrew Breitbart has become an iconic and beloved figure on the right, so it’s hard to imagine his eponymous empire could be in danger of losing conservative support just one year after his passing. But if recent events are a harbinger of things to come, that’s at least a possibility. It all started last October, when BuzzFeed’s McKay Coppins penned a controversial piece, arguing the outlet was “plagued by an unusual degree of disorganization and rampant infighting…” The report might have been easily dismissed, had it not been soon revealed that Breitbart.com’s Dana Loesch was suing Breitbart.com

And now the last of them is gone. Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II—three who won the Cold War and, it isn´t too much to say, saved the West (at least for a while!)—are no longer with us. Their examples remain. They knew what they believed but also knew they had to justify their beliefs, and that one could adjust prudently to circumstances without yielding on principle. They stood firm when in power, and they took risks to get there, challenging the conventional wisdom and the respective establishments of their nations or institutions.

Frustration is taking its toll in the liberals’ war against guns. President Obama, pushing his broad gun control agenda, said we should be ashamed if we’ve forgotten the Newtown shooting so soon. The New York Times opined that Obama is being shouted down by the “gun lobby,” even though he and Biden had been crisscrossing the country “…making a forceful case for a package of laws that would reduce gun violence.” That, of course, is the media narrative on gun control. For every issue there is a narrative: a set of assumptions and boundaries of thought

Mr. Samson has found what he says are perfect replicas of the French general´s gray overcoat, he has studied Napoleon´s native Corsican tongue and he has had himself crowned emperor of France, in a cathedral yet. Is it time to give up the fight against Obamacare? That’s a question some conservative health-care experts, pundits, and — more quietly — politicians are asking. In the first years after its passage, opponents had hoped that the Supreme Court would strike down the law or that a new president would sign its repeal before most of it took effect. But the Supreme Court decided to modify a few of its provisions instead of striking it down, and President Obama was reelected. Repeal is almost certainly off the table for four years. Obamacare will continue to be implemented.

As the bipartisan Gang of Eight works to complete a comprehensive immigration reform bill, there has been a growing consensus among Senate Republicans that the bill — so far seen by no one outside the Gang — should be the subject of multiple hearings and extended consideration inside the Senate Judiciary Committee. But on Sunday there were signs that consensus does not extend to the Republicans inside the Gang. Appearing on CBS, longtime immigration reform advocate and Gang member Sen. John McCain suggested the immigration issue is so familiar to lawmakers that multiple hearings will not be necessary.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
