How Obama Turned
America into Venezuela

FrontPage Magazine, by Daniel Greenfield

Hugo Chavez’s death was met with tributes from Iran, Bolivia, China and El Salvador. The Western left did not waste much time adding their withered roses to El Comandante’s coffin. George Galloway called him another Spartacus. Jimmy Carter described him as a leader who fought for the “neglected and trampled.” Michael Moore praised him for declaring that the oil belongs to the people. Whether or not the oil belongs to the people is a matter of some debate considering how much of it ended up in Chavez’s pocket. Chavez died with an estimated net worth of 2 billion dollars making

Maybe some day we could have Barry and Mooch stuffed and mounted next to the Washington Monument. That particular attraction, rest assured, would never be closed down by some future government cutback!

The left is trying to leverage Chavez´s death into the culture of giveaways to the poor.Never mind that giveaways are a short term answer to a long term problem.
The Miami paper told the real Chavez story the other day and it was roundly ignored by the rest of the lapdog media.

there could be spotty examples of government handouts solving people´ long term poverty problems bu I haven´t seen any examples.

In Obama´s class-struggling world view, there are no Americans.
There are simply us vs. them.
Good vs. bad.
It´s called manichaeism, in case philosophy is still taught at the American monoversity.

The left wing media may want to start monitoring the left elitist´s pay and the poor multiple. I know they have a lot of time to keep tabs on the ceo and employee multiple, but this would be a meaningful way for them to see how much they really care about the poor. Obama, John Kerry, and Soros are always funding soup kitchens, aren´t they?

The Democrats, of course, along their FL, Stinky the Gunrunner, saw in the Housing Bubble, that they could run industries intheground while stealing everything not bolted down, and when the industry goes belly up, just blame it on the Republicans, and the media and battered wife Rinos will help them make it stick.

Now...the Democrats see the opportunity to steal the country and hand the national bankruptcy to the dumb Republicans. John McCain will be standing there agreeing with them. Mitt, too.

Don´t expect Rand Paul to save us. He´s not even from this planet.

Washington DC and its suburbs remind me of the royal court at Versailles. They are living high while the rest of the country suffers. This country is beginning to resemble France circa 1789.

Shouldn’t college students know as much American civics as they do pop culture? MRCTV went to American University to find out, discovering few students who could name a single U.S. senator or the number of senators from each state, though most knew the Oscar-winning song “Let It Go.” Equally surprising are polls showing that only one-quarter of Americans can identify the vice president or name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment (religion, speech, press, assembly and petition), though over half knew at least two cartoon characters from “The Simpsons.” Before suggesting Americans’ ignorance is bliss

Since Teddy Roosevelt counseled, “Speak softly and carry a big stick,” U.S. presidents have followed his advice, cautioning adversaries to resolve conflicts peacefully or suffer consequences. Even President Carter brandished America’s big stick upon learning that bad things happen when you’re not respected, prompting him to Think Again about deterrence given “the Soviets’ ultimate goals.” But today, after unilaterally “resetting” relations with repressive regimes including Iran and Russia — whose Ukraine incursion is “the gravest threat to European security and stability since the end of the Cold War,” proclaimed NATO’s chief — America’s posture is more akin to “speak loudly and carry

Shortly after Barack Obama rose to the presidency, the Right became fascinated by Saul Alinsky, and in particular by the philosopher and community organizer’s “Rules for Radicals.” Many on the right focused their attention on Alinsky’s Fourth Rule: “Make opponents live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.” The strategy of “making them live up to their own book of rules” is frequently mentioned and discussed these days at Breitbart.com, Instapundit, Ace of Spades, and just

Last week, as Ukrainian emigre- turned-tech tycoon Jan Koum prepared to cash a multibillion-dollar check from Facebook — acquirer of his startup “WhatsApp” — Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich was checking out of his Gatsby-esque estate where he’d cached his stolen plunder. That the two Ukrainians derived their riches under diametrically opposed systems — free enterprise versus banana republic — illustrates why all income inequalities are not created equal. Most don’t resent the rich — only the undeservedly rich — as a recent Venezuelan protest sign conveyed: “These Castro-Chavistas speak like Marx, govern like Stalin, and live like Rockefeller, while the people suffer!” Koum’s

Can the marriage between the Tea Party and the GOP survive? My answer is: It better. The White House is occupied by a lifelong anti-American radical who has done more to bankrupt this nation’s economy, take us down as a military power, and destroy individual liberty than anyone would have thought possible in January 2009 when he took office. And it’s worse than that. Obama is the head of a Democratic party that has moved so far to the left over the last 46 years that it has become anti–free market, anti-individualist, anti-constitutionalist, and unready to defend America’s sovereign

“Life’s greatest happiness,” Victor Hugo wrote, “is to be convinced we are loved.” As most experienced couples know, love-induced happiness is a year-round triumph, not the outcome of a singular, mass-marketed Valentine’s celebration — the one Jay Leno calls “Extortion Day.” But men ignore this expectation-filled Hallmark holiday at their peril, which is why it’s become a $16 billion industry. More than heart-shaped bling, women savor attention — a lesson noted by politicians. Just as women beware of transient Romeos, they must Think Again about politicians who whisper sweet nothings into their ears, over-promising before an election and under-delivering after winning their

THE debate over immigration reform, rekindled last week by House Republican leaders, bears a superficial resemblance to last fall’s debate over the government shutdown. Again, you have establishment Republicans transparently eager to cut a deal with the White House and a populist wing that doesn’t want to let them do it. Again, you have Republican business groups and donors wringing their hands over the intransigence of the base, while talk-radio hosts and right-wing bloggers warn against an imminent inside-the-Beltway sellout. As a binge TV watcher, I’ve relished devouring serial dramas in advertising-free gulps. But “Breaking Bad” — the story about a cancer-stricken chemistry teacher turned clandestine meth-cooking badass — didn’t appeal. Then Anthony Hopkins declared it an “epic work” with “the best actors I’ve ever seen.” Midway through Season 2, I understand why Walter White is heroic. As men increasingly check out of work, marriage and fatherhood, it’s hard not to root for a man fiercely determined to secure his family’s future before dying — despite his morally abhorrent methods. We can repeal and replace bad laws. President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W.
