HBO to air McGreevey
documentary this month

Star - Ledger (Newark, NJ), by Matt Friedman

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 3/8/2013 4:30:40 PM

Former Gov. Jim McGreevey’s life is about to get the HBO treatment. The premium network later this month will air a documentary called "Fall to Grace" on McGreevey’s resignation as governor and his “redemption and transformation” while studying to become an Episcopal priest and working to help female inmates, according to a press release from HBO. It’s honest,” McGreevey said today in a phone interview. The film, which will first air on Thursday, March 28, is directed by Alexandra Pelosi – daughter of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

Comments:
This has puff (poof?) piece written all over it.

I wonder if Ms. Pelosi will include his NJ Turnpike tea bagging sessions with strangers, how he appointed his unqualified homosexual lover to be the director of the state Homeland Security Division to buy his silence or how he humiliated his poor innocent wife before the entire nation?

I doubt it.

Jim McGreevey is proof that there is no law against gay people getting married - he did it twice.

McGreevey´s homosexuality had NOTHING to do with his resignation, other than to serve as a smokescreen.

He resigned because has was about to be - and should have been - indicted for corruption. Just look into the "Machiavelli" affair.

As a former life long resident of NJ, Mc Greevy was and is an embarrassment to the people of the state. Corrzine runs a close second.

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama is kicking off his birthday weekend with a round of golf at an Air Force base outside Washington. Obama turns 52 on Sunday. The president left the White House unusually early on Saturday for the trip to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to squeeze in some golfing time before heading to Camp David in the afternoon. The White House said there were three golfing foursomes, including Obama friends from Hawaii and Chicago, and current and former staffers.

Jay Z would want President Barack Obama to induct him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he said Friday. When asked by HBO’s Bill Maher on his show “Real Time” who the rapper would want to induct him when he’s eligible in seven years, Jay Z immediately said Obama. “It’d be alright. He owes me a couple,” Jay Z said. Jay Z also got serious on the show, saying that the problem with issues such as police “stop and frisk” tactics isn’t the police — it’s the widening income gap.

Republicans, seeking to take advantage of a string of high-profile Democratic politicians´ sex scandals, are taking a page out of their rivals´ political playbook and claiming Democrats have launched a "war on women." That´s the phrase Democrats effectively used in the 2012 election, which led to an unprecedented 20 point gender voting gap, with President Barack Obama winning women voters over Republican rival Mitt Romney by 12 percent. Romney bested Obama among men by 8 percent. Democrats had knocked Republicans for candidates who made offensive remarks about abortion and rape

Lawmakers are packing up their bags to leave Washington for five weeks today, but as they get ready for the summer recess they really have nothing to celebrate. Well, unless you consider passing the 40th measure against the Affordable Care Act to be some kind of achievement. The latest pointless measure to repeal or dismantle Obamacare at least had a catchy title: Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013. And it was approved 232-185, with four Democrats joining Republicans in supporting the bill, reports the Hill.

BEIJING — When it comes to the love-hate, frenemy-like U.S.-China relationship, there’s been no shortage of competition. You have cyberwars, currency wars, intellectual property wars and, most recently, the tug-of-war over a certain asylum-seeking fugitive leaker. Now, add to all that a rivalry over who has the best-dressed first lady — a competition in which China was surprisingly anointed the winner this week by Vanity Fair. (snip)Peng Liyuan “sails onto the list,” as Vanity Fair put it in a photo gallery highlighting Peng’s eye for trendy-yet-stately attire. The unexpected honor had some Chinese bloggers crowing. “Peng Liyuan Upends Michelle Obama,”

John Kerry’s week began on a high note, with the resumption of Middle East peace talks after months of dogged effort on the Secretary of State’s part. But it’s closing on a more awkward one, as officials in Washington clean up after two apparent gaffes Kerry made yesterday in Pakistan yesterday. The gaffes came in different flavors. One amounted to wishful thinking about American policy on drones. Another articulated U.S. policy towards Egypt with a bit too much candor. First was Kerry’s answer to a question from a Pakistani reporter about America’s ongoing, and extremely unpopular, drone campaign in Pakistan

Don´t bet on President Obama visiting Moscow any time soon. Obama and aides have discussed a trip to the Russian capital in September to meet with President Vladimir Putin, but that prospect is very much in doubt now that Russia has granted temporary asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. "Obviously this is not a positive development," said White House spokesman Jay Carney. "And we have a wide range of interests with the Russians, and we are evaluating the utility of a summit." Snowden´s fate is only the latest dispute between the Obama and Putin governments

American scientists claim the planet is undergoing one of the largest changes in climate in the past 65 million years. Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 2 -- Egypt´s military leaders are "restoring democracy" to the country after ousting freely elected President Mohamed Morsi, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said. "The military was asked to intervene by millions and millions of people, all of whom were afraid of a descendance into chaos, into violence," Kerry told private Geo TV in Pakistan while visiting Islamabad. "And the military did not take over, to the best of our judgment -- so far," Kerry said. "To run the country, there´s a civilian government. In effect, they were restoring democracy." The group also urged "all free people in all countries of the world to demonstrate peacefully" in support of their marches. WASHINGTON - U.S. employers slowed their pace of hiring in July but the jobless rate fell anyway, mixed signals that could make the U.S. Federal Reserve more cautious about drawing down its huge economic stimulus program. The number of jobs outside the farming sector increased by 162,000, the Labour Department said on Friday. That was below the median forecast in a Reuters poll of 184,000. Compounding that miss, the government also cut its previous estimates for hiring in May and June.

About 400 area retail and fast-food workers, together with colleagues nationally, participated in a strike Thursday to demand raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. “If not $15, then something. I mean give us something. I work 36 hours a week and barely make enough to pay my rent, gas bill, light bill. It gets to the point where I barely have enough for lunch sometimes,” said Angel Richardson, 21, who works at McDonald’s. “I’m five months pregnant, what am I going to do in four months? I hope something changes.” The minimum wage is $7.25 nationally and $8.25

The administration has popped the bubble of hope some small business had that switching to part-time staff would let them escape the high costs of Obamacare. The Small Business Administration on Thursday created a website to explain to businesses that the government will simply tally up the number of part-time employees firms have to determine if enough hours have been worked to essentially create a "full-time equivalent." Some smaller businesses had thought that if they could get under the 50 full-time employee cap that activates Obamacare by cutting full-time workers and hiring more part-time workers they would escape

You don´t have to be gay or even Russian to feel the wrath of the Russian government´s homophobia. You could go to jail if you are "pro-gay," whatever that means. And that´s under just one of a growing number of hate-infused bills becoming law at a time when, as it happens, Russia is preparing to host the world in the next Winter Olympics. The perverse anti-gay legislation is inflaming an atmosphere of persistent intimidation and at times deadly violence against Russian gays and lesbians. The question now is: What should the rest of the world do?

The nation´s most active death penalty state is running out of its execution drug. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Thursday that its remaining supply of phenobarbital expires in September and that no alternatives have been found. It wasn´t immediately clear whether two executions scheduled for next month would be delayed. The state has already executed 11 death-row inmates this year, and at least seven more have execution dates in coming months. "We will be unable to use our current supply of phenobarbital after it expires," agency spokesman Jason Clark said. "We are exploring all options at this time."

Words are funny things. For instance, G.K. After purchasing the Boston Globe in 1993 for a then-record $1.1 billion, the financially troubled New York Times just announced it sold the 141 year-old paper to Boston Red Sox owner John Henry for a mere $70 million. That´s a straight 93% loss. Figuring in two decades of inflation would only make it worse -- as does the fact the Times retains the Globe´s pension liabilities, estimated at over $100 million.
