´We´re fully capable of defending ourselves´:
U.S. dismisses North Korea´s threat of
´thermonuclear war´ against America
in revenge for sanctions

Associated Press, Daily Mail [UK], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 3/8/2013 8:03:07 AM

The Obama administration today dismissed a threat by North Korea and warned that U.S. is ´fully capable´ of defending itself from a ballistic missile attack by the communist regime. White House spokesman Jay Carney was responding to the North´s vow to launch a nuclear strike against America. North Korea state media warned of a ´thermonuclear war´ as an unidentified spokesman for Pyongyang´s Foreign Ministry said the North will exercise its right for ´pre-emptive nuclear strikes on the headquarters of the aggressors.´ That threat came in retaliation for tough new U.N. sanctions against Pyongyang following its recent nuclear test.

Comments:
Yeah, and on top of that my dad could have beaten your dad and my lawyer can beat your lawyer.

Isn´t this response a bit childishly pompous?

Yes we are capable of defending ourselves, but will we? Or, will our own Dear Leader let us suffer a bit first? Maybe a small nuke on a west coast city.

North Korea, ultimately, is controlled by China. Does anyone seriously think that China would let them pursue this? China is letting Jong Un huff and puff but that´s all it is - hot air.

Maybe instead of muttering about defensive strategies that could very easily fail and allow a nuclear tipped missile to reach the US mainland, the USA should reflect an offensive posture and flat tell the world, China, and specifically North Korea, what awaits them if they attempt a nuclear attack on the USA, complete and utter national suicide. If the North Korean regime is allowed to continue as is, what kind of nuclear arsenal are they going to have in another fifty years?

We weren´t fully capable of defending ourselves at Benghazi, 911, or Fort Hood. Only a fool would make such a claim.

The Bedford Incident ( film from the 60´s) had the wacky Captain of the ship get his crew so riled up for war that a missile was launched by accident. Human error caused the start of WW 3. Seeing how Obama and company react to spontaneous attacks (Bengazi s/o) I would not sleep well if I lived on the West Coast.

Why is there an almost universal assumption that N. Korea can only deliver a nuclear device to a US city on the tip of a missile? Our ports are still very porous, not to mention our land borders.

Obama is a fool. Missile Defense is still in its infancy, it´s capabilities have grown a little to be sure, but not enough to stop an attack if the preparations for such an attack were masked and not advertised.

The putrid progeny of Pyongyang´s pygmy pedophile must be hallucinating. What he characterizes as preparedness to defend themselves is, in reality, just a precocious propensity to provoke the rest of the world.

Reply 17 - Posted by: bighambone, 3/8/2013 10:41:04 AM     (No. 9214906)

A few years before 9-11 happened, a small foreign ship, I believe it was named the "Golden Venture" was able to sail into New York harbor at night. It was only noticed when it was putting ashore 150 or so Chinese illegal aliens. If that vessel had been carrying a nuclear weapon in it´s hold, a suicide crew could have pulling into a pier someplace in lower Manhattan and detonated the nuclear weapon. It that had happened, they still would have been trying to figure out what happened and who was behind it.

Once the North Koreans perfect a nuclear device, don´t ever believe that a recurrence of the "Golden Venture" could not happen sometime in the future, the next time with a ship carrying a nuclear weapon instead of a load of illegal aliens.

To assume a strictly defensive posture in the face of what the North Koreans are doing and saying in getting ready to strike the USA with a nuclear weapon is not a good thing in the long-run.

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

The most successful politicians write their own obituaries. I have read a number of Baroness Thatcher´s today and wondered whether the writers would be surprised if they were told she would probably agree with most of what was written, even in the Left-of-centre outlets. This is because successful politicians so dominate the debate on the issues they care about--which were many, in Thatcher´s case--that they determine the course of the argument including the response from opponents. They do this by defining themselves in the public imagination by what they are against rather than what they are for, and leaving only

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
