Obama has caused all this governmental chaos and now wants to be the champion of reconciliation.There´s probably a long list of obama´s donors wanting their payoffs they can´t get without the money being in the budget.Since republicans hold the purse strings he has to crawl to them to some extent.

obama´s time would be better served rereading the US Constitution and a 1970´s history book. The first to remind him how the Founder´s set up the government and the second to remind him how and why the Colonists did it; more so the why. Once again, the Washpo is clueless. Obama tried to bully the GOP and for once failed. He knows that the public now sees him for a charlatan and wants to regain the ratings that will let him control both houses of congress in 2014. It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

In a poll conducted by PoliceOne, a majority of law enforcement personnel said universal background checks, "assault weapons" bans, and "high capacity" magazine bans do not make police safer and will not lower violent crime. Armed citizens, on the other hand, do make a positive difference. In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.
