| Republicans don’t control the U.S. Senate and they don’t have the presidency. Instead of wasting time and energy in doomed efforts to defeat President Obama’s Cabinet nominees or sucking up to illegal aliens, why not focus on issues where Republicans can be off-the-charts popular while forcing Democrats into taking stupid positions? After the slaughters at Virginia Tech, Aurora, Colo., Tucson, Ariz., and Newtown, Conn., every sentient person knows we need to do something about institutionalizing the mentally ill and — at the very least — keeping guns out of their hands.

Some of what she says makes sense and some not so much. Part of the problem is republican leadership is risk adverse and doesn´t really want to make any waves. Also you have to ask yourself if the R leadership really cares, and/or knows what conservatives care about?

The old saying comes to mind, ´´If you don´t stand for something you´ll fall for anything.´´ ...The GOP must first again decide what it stands for before voters can be expected to decide if their party´s candidates should be entrusted with votes. Voters need to know those candidates whom they vote for will remain steadfast in their faithfulness to their oaths of office.

While Ms. Colter may be right, you have to remember that the mentally ill have the right to vote in this country, and the liberal Democrats know that the vast majority of them and the mental health industry that they support vote for Democrats.
Even though the vast majority of the American people go along with a lot more effective background checks including the release of mental health records to law enforcement of the small percentage of mentally ill people who have conditions that render them really dangerous, the liberal Democrats will not go along and will continue to attempt to ban and confiscate lawfully owned firearms from hundreds of millions of law abiding Americans instead.

We care about the filibuster by Rand Paul.
It is doubtful, despite the arguments presented in this article, that the GOP
would want to pursue Ann´s position or that the public would rally to it.
It´s just a non-issue except in the aftermath of a shooting.
What we really want is to defeat DimRatz on gun control and most or all of their agenda.
Spending is the biggest issue affecting us all. And they are addressing that now.

A battle has been brewing in the Republican Party for some time, long before President Obama was re-elected this past November. On one side is the big business Washington establishment represented by K Street lobbyists and the Chamber of Commerce. On the other side are populist, main street, grassroots conservatives represented by the Tea Party and Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint. Few issues divide the Republican Party more clearly along these lines than immigration reform. And this week, the battle just got ugly.

A coalition of Eagle Scouts, Scoutmasters, and parents have launched a new organization vowing to keep sex and politics out of the Boy Scouts of America. “The Boy Scouts are one of the great jewels of American culture,” said John Stemberger, an Eagle Scout and the founder of OnMyHonor.net. In the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic all health care was free for everybody! Oh, what a paradise….well, until you actually experienced the “worker’s paradise,” as the communists proudly called it, in real life. The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.

The state of California is reportedly considering legislation that would force group insurance policies to provide infertility treatment for gay and lesbian couples. Two men who have sex with each other for a year and do not produce a baby would be considered “infertile” under the proposed legislation. So would two women having sex. Since biology does not allow those without a uterus to conceive or those without a penis to impregnate, every year-long gay couple in California would potentially be covered by this new provision of California law.
