Pro-Obama group reverses

WASHINGTON — The nonprofit advocacy group formed to bolster President Obama’s agenda has reversed its decision to accept corporate donations and promised more transparency about its contributors after fielding a torrent of criticism about its fundraising structure. (Snip)The new policies announced by Messina were aimed at squelching the attacks. The organization, which already said it would decline donations from federal lobbyists and foreign donors, will now also refuse money from corporations. However, the group will still accept money from labor unions, according to spokeswoman Katie Hogan.

Big meeting - "founders´ summit" - next week at a hotel which is being kept secret.

Really? This was in my "IN" box this morning:

Bob --

Think back to President Obama´s first term. Special interests spent unprecedented money to convince Congress to vote against policies the American people supported.

History is already repeating itself. We´re just a few months into President Obama´s second term and special-interest groups are back at it, pouring money into ads to defeat common-sense gun safety measures that more than 90 percent of Americans support. Shady groups with undisclosed donors are fighting back against comprehensive immigration reform.

We´re not sitting back and letting them get away with it.

Organizing for Action´s mission is to put power back into the hands of the American people. That´s why we won´t accept a single dollar from corporations, PACs, foreign donors, or lobbyists. This is your movement, not theirs.

So step up and own it -- add your name today and let us know you´re in:

They can SAY anything they want. What evidence is there that they will actually follow through? The history of those connected with this President suggests that they will say this now and quietly change their tune later.

They got a big stash of money now from corporate donors so they can lay off for a while and make a big deal out of it and say why don´t the Republicans swear off corporate monies.

It´s just like the Soviets who would claim they were calling it quits on nuclear testing so why doesn´t the U.S. do the same. When really they had just finished a round of testing and had to go back into the lab to plan the next round and actually never had any intent of stopping for good.

In delivering aid to drought-stricken California last week, President Obama and his aides cited the state as an example of what could be in store for much of the rest of the country as human-caused climate change intensifies. But in doing so, they were pushing at the boundaries of scientific knowledge about the relationship between climate change and drought. While a trend of increasing drought that may be linked to global warming has been documented in some regions, including parts of the Mediterranean and in the Southwestern United States, there is no scientific consensus yet that it is a worldwide

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — It’s a day of golf in Southern California for President Barack Obama while the nation’s capital recovers from this week’s snowfall. The White House says Obama teed off Saturday at the nine-hole course at the Sunnylands retreat in Rancho Mirage with childhood friends Bobby Titcomb, Greg Orme and Michael Ramos. Obama is spending the weekend at the estate. It used to be the winter home of the late billionaire philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg. SOCHI, Russia -- T.J. Cam Fowler and Joe Pavelski scored in regulation for the Americans in the marquee game of the preliminary round. Jonathan Quick made 29 saves and stopped five attempts in the shootout. International rules allow the same player to take multiple shots after the first three rounds of a shootout, and U.S. coach Dan Bylsma leaned on Oshie, one of the NHL´s shootout specialists.

Fruit and vegetables, like oranges, papayas, peppers, broccoli and strawberries, contain vitamin C. According to the American Stroke Association, hemorrhagic stroke accounts for approximately 13 percent of stroke cases. It results from a weakened vessel that ruptures and bleeds into the surrounding brain. The blood collects and compresses the surrounding brain tissue. The research involved 65 people who had dealt with an intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke. They were examined in contrast to

The U.A.W.’s loss — in what was one of the most closely watched unionization votes in decades — is expected to slow, perhaps stymie, the union’s plans to organize other auto plants in the South. Two other German-owned plants, Mercedes-Benz in Alabama and BMW in South Carolina, have been among its top targets.

There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,
