Great White knuckle ride: Incredible
video shows fearless swimmer hitching
a lift on SHARK´S back

Mirror [UK], by Andy Rudd

Original Article

Posted By:PChristopher, 3/6/2013 7:12:41 AM

Fearless swimmer Ocean Ramsey hitches a lift on the back of a GREAT WHITE SHARK. The brave beauty swam with the 17-foot beast in the waters off Baja in Mexico last year. Shark conservationist Ocean, who is also a scuba instructor, model and freediver, travels the globe swimming with many species of sharks hoping to prove they are nothing like their Jaws film reputation. In the video above, friend Juan Oliphant, captures the incredible moment the 27-year-old catches a ´tail ride´ through the deep.

Comments:
I thought I´d post a different sort of story that didn´t have some "Progressive" urinating down my back and telling me that it´s raining. I´ve got to give that girl credit. Darned it I´d do that. And Jaws was 8´ longer, BTW, just for a sense of scale...this is his runty little brother.

She´s quite a babe.
But somehow I keep thinking about the untimely and tragic demise of Steve Irwin, the Australian Crocodile Wrestler.
I wonder if Ms. Ramsey will make it to 40.

A few years ago, didn´t some guy prove that you could also interact with grizzly bears in the wild. Time after time, he showed just how close you could get to the bears and how friendly and accepting they could be. By the way, what ever happened to him?

I fear this woman will come to a bad end as well. Sharks will be sharks, you know.

Probably Guadalupe Island. I´ve fished there 15 times over the past fifteen years. There are always 1-3 great whites swimming around the boat.

This woman is unfortunately deluded. I´ve spent many days fishing tuna and yellowtail with these sharks. There are days when we´d be pulling in big fish for hours and the sharks swim by and seem disinterested. Then, somebody rings the silent dinner bell, and nobody gets in a fish - at least a whole fish. Nobody knows why they suddenly go on the chew, but it´s pretty impressive when they do.

By the way, I´ve watched sea lions swimming with big white sharks. I even watched a sea lion approach a shark and playfully nip its tail. Like this young woman, it can only get away with it for so long.

Poor girl. What a shame it will be if/when reality shows her (and the world . . . yet again) how unforgiving it is.

What does she think about shark attacks against humans? That the humans weren´t interacting with them right? That they had it coming? Like I said, poor girl - she is putting her life in the hands of instinctive, unfeeling animals. Will the one that finally looks at her and sees a twinkie feel remorseful about it? Nope.

I immediately thought of Steve Irwin as well, #1. I realize that beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder, but when he would exclaim that some (truly) ugly croc was ´gorgeous´ I feared that things would not end well for the Crocodile Hunter. Odd thing was his death came from the barb of a ray while he was diving. On the other hand, these people are doing as they please, same as base jumpers or those who walk the tightrope across the gorge a Niagara Falls.

The names of the six-member jury panel that acquitted George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin have been made public for the first time, after a new court order, records show. Circuit Judge Debra Nelson, who had previously ordered the jurors´ identifying information be kept confidential, granted access to the names in a ruling March 21. Zimmerman´s defense asked the judge in June to keep the names secret until six months after the verdict. (Snip) Attempts to reach the jurors by phone and in-person Thursday were unsuccessful.

Senators blocked President Obama’s nominee to lead the Justice Department’s civil rights division Wednesday in a bipartisan filibuster, with opponents saying his history defending a convicted cop-killer in the Supreme Court made him a poor choice. The defeat of Debo P. Adegbile, who as an attorney for the NAACP backed appeals by former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal, is a major blow to Mr. Obama. Democrats changed the rules last year to overcome filibusters with just 50 votes, but Majority Leader Harry Reid couldn’t even muster all of his own troops Wednesday.

President Barack Obama is warning Russia "there will be costs" for any military maneuvers it launches in Ukraine, a move U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they believe to be already underway. Officials say Obama may retaliate by canceling a trip to Russia this summer for an international summit and could also cut off trade discussions with Moscow. But it´s unclear whether those moves will have any impact on Russia´s calculus in Ukraine, which is at the center of what many see as a tug of war between East and West. "Any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing," Obama declared Friday
