Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly on Tuesday night repeatedly accused liberal radio talk show host Alan Colmes of "lying" during a heated shouting match on "The O´Reilly Factor." O’Reilly kicked off his show by saying President Barack Obama does not want to “solve the fiscal mess" and that he is too focused on flipping the Republican-held House back to the Democrats to deal with the country´s economic issues. “That is very disturbing,” O’Reilly said. Fox News contributors Colmes and Monica Crowley then stopped by to discuss the issue — and Colmes and O’Reilly quickly found themselves at odds.
I know O´Reilly has many fans, but I cannot watch him because he seems so focused on having his own say that he gives his guests no opportunity to make their points. I´ve often tuned in, simply to hear O´Reilly´s guest, but it´s always a waste of effort. However, Alan Colmes is a liar and I´m pleased O´Reilly called him one.
Commies is an idiot. I don´t object to O´Reilly becoming overheated. My head explodes whenever Commies speaks. I object to O´Reilly having an idiot on his program. The ´drama´ that results is a weird form of entertainment. I just want to be informed; I don´t want to see spectacle featuring idiots.
#2, StormCnter, I vote yours as post of the day. Expresses my feelings for a long time. O´Reilly never, ever shuts up and it totally ruins any points he makes. His guests are merely platforms for him to launch his opinions. I concur with much of what he says; however, I can´t stand to listen. In this case he´s right on, but his mouth and attitude kill the impact of his words.
This is not an act to get ratings. Rather, it is "Mr. Fair" O"Reilly finally figuring out what OBama is up to and seeing our country dealt irreparable harm. He prided himself on his "fairness" re: Obama and now sees what the cost is.
I agree # 15. I stopped watching after Obama´s first election because O´Reilly just slobbered all over the man and started every single segment saying "And Obama is right....." All it took was a trip to the White House and Obama had Bill by the whohas. Now, tho, since Obama has ignored Bill and didn´t go on his show during the last election - Billy boy is waking up to the disaster this ´president´ is becoming.
Bill would be so much more effective he he would exhibit a little self control.

Can´t stand to watch O´Reilly. He loves the sound of his own voice. He asks his guests a question then interrupts and talks over them. I also hate the way he refers to people by their last name. I find it rude and obnoxious. Having said that, I think that Colmes could pi** off the Pope. He is a knee jerk liberal weasel. A true believing Kool Aid drinker. He has a superior attitude but has nothing to feel superior about.

I did not see the show because I can´t stand O´Reilly. He´s a narcissist. The best thing that ever happened to Sean Hannity was when Colmes left the show. Now I wish Fox would get rid of Shepard Smith.
Too little, too late, Mr. O. Where was you critical thinking in 2008? Was it too much to ask that you do your job and report the facts? You were so eager to give Obama the benefit of the doubt when everything indicated that he was a radical ideologue. You and your colleagues have done a terrible disservice to this country. Verbally beating up pathetic Alan Colmes does not make up for your lack of curiosity about Obama. You weren´t looking out for the folks then. You blew it and nothing will change that. Dramatic outrage is unbecoming too.
Regarding O´Reilly and Obama, the first Fox News guy to interview candidate Obama, is now "chewing his own arm off" to avoid waking The Won, because he now looks a lot worse this morning than in the bar last night around closing time.
I was watching last night and while it was nice to see Colmes called on the usual statements they make, it made me uncomfortable to watch O´Reilly lose it. He seems to be losing it with guests a lot anymore. I wouldn´t put it passed him to do it for ratings either, but if nothing else, if folks didn´t watch.. they are seeing it now. So, that´s a good thing.
The point was that Obama has not done anything.. except "propose" and talk about what he wants to do. And he´s right. The curtain is starting to fall in front of the wizard.
It sounds as if O´Reilly has started to consider the Limbaugh Theorem. Here´s the closest summary of it I could find:
even the people that voted for Romney -- do not associate Obama with any of the problems in the country. This is what you and I are gonna have to learn and learn fast. No matter what is said, no matter what evidence happens, no matter what´s reported, it will not be possible to connect Obama to the negativity that´s happening in the country today because he´s campaigning against it himself. That´s the reason for the perpetual, never-ending campaign. It is why, in eight years, he will never allow himself for even one day to be seen as actually governing or presiding over any of this.
It´s a brilliant strategy, really. It has been used by the most successful dictators. They are on the side of the people. Any horrible things that happen (increasing deficits, job losses, disappearing retirement investments, deterioration of health care, killing of children in the inner cities) can´t possibly be connected to them because they are opposed to those things.
I´m glad O´Reilly is finally waking up. May the rest of the country do so as well. Soon.
Fear of being called a racist is the problem here. OReilly, Krauthammer and others had to support Obama early if they ever wanted to be able to criticize him later without being called a racist.
The problem is an obviously unqualified and incomptent president can wreak havoc while people such as OReilly and Krauthammer insulate themselves from the racist charge.
We needed their voices 5 years ago when it wasn´t politically correct to criticize the black candidate. Rush and a few others were there early - but many were not. All this righteous indignation is too late now.
All Alan Colmes does is spout Democrat talking points. Back when he was on with Hannity, he continually talked over those he disagreed with. He made Keith Ellison look polite. Why is he still a Fox contributor?
Colmes always loved to steamroll people when he was on Hannity. It´s sorta nice to see O´R´s machine smash over his. Hope someday to see someone do this to the Bamster, but it will probably never happen.
many people wrote in to Mr.O Reilly telling him what hussien was really about...but OReilly kept saying no...hussin was not a socialist...but O Reilly was being "fair" said he... its an act...I for one and many more people stopped watching the hussien supporter...now he needs the ratings to go up... Colmes probably got paid lots of money to help the act work
a similar thing happened with Colmes and OReilly in May of 2011. The best part is watching Monica sit like the amused sister-in-law she, in fact, is, waiting until she´s allowed to make a point or two.
Granted, Alan Colmes is a say and do anything at any cost liberal who can be trusted to always spout the party line.
Motor Mouth O’Reilly can be trusted to make himself the star; the center of attention, even when his is only a supporting role. Absolutely no one is exempt from Bombastic Bill’s trademark insufferable interrupting.
I am surprised to see so many posts criticizing Bill O´Rilley for his dust up with Alan Colmes. I have watched Alan Colmes make pathetic excuses for Obama for years and am repulsed by him. It is about time that someone called him for what he is: a liar! Patrick
Alan Colmes is a Progressive-Socialist Tool and normally, I turn off the show when he is on. It was finally, about time that O´Rielly crawled down Colmes´ throat. Colmes is always sure to regurgitate the days ´Rat talking points.
O´Reilly is a "bloviating" obnoxious, self-promoting bully. Colmes is a pathetic, sniveling, pandering wimp. All theatrics to court ratings. Hannity´s ratings have been consistently going up for months now. If he isn´t yet in close contention with O´Reilly, he will be very soon.
O´Reilly would save his guests a lot of time if he would just put up cardboard cutouts of them in the chairs. On his show he serves as both guest and host. Like Obama, it´s all about him. His mother should have taught him the old lesson, that you never learn anything with your mouth open.

First, Alan Colmes is a fraud. He started out as a stand up comic and couldn´t make a living. Then he developed a shtick which was a call in radio program where he would take the opposite view of the caller. You say black and he´d say white. Or vice versa, whichever worked. He soon realized it was funnier to attack the right than the left and so he became more "liberal" but just to make a living as a foil. That´s the role he plays now as he can´t make a living doing anything else. Down deep he doesn´t really believe 75% of what he espouses but he loves the paycheck.
Second, O´Reilly is finally looking at his own paycheck and making a connection. His contract is for $12 million a year and he has all those book royalties. He sees a fortune being taken out by the government and it is just getting worse ... and now Obama wants more. He finally dropped the veil and showed his true self. About time but the damage has been done. All evil needs to succeed is for good men to do nothing. Bill sat back and pretended to be fair while the crook robbed the house.
I can´t stand to watch BO because he will NOT let anyone else speak, constantly interrupts his guests and refuses to admit he does it. He´s an even bigger ass when he starts screaming uncontrollably at a guest.
If you like theatrics then by all means watch Bill. He is your model Moderate that will compromise on everything, including morals and principles. Stopped watching him two years ago and my health is now much better.
I watched it and thought at the time that it was a theatrical overreaction. Particularly when he was such good buddies with the prez a while back. I dont know if he ever retracted it, but he came out in favor of gun registration a while back. That pretty much ended his show in my house, unless there are no Brady Bunch or Andy Griffith reruns on.
Applauding O´Reilly for actually telling it like it is.
One reason I change channels when listening to various shows on FOX are the talking Democrat heads. They sit there and tell bold faced lies and are seldom called on them. They scream and talk over anyone that speaks the truth and is seldom called on it.
The whole Fox "fair and balanced" schtick was wearing thin years ago. To put on an intelligent guest like Crowley and balance her by putting on an idiot like Colmes is at best a waste of time. Murdoch was neutered by both the Saudi investment and the British wiretap case. Support Glenn beck and his Blaze network. You don´t have to watch idiots like Beckel and Colmes. FoxNews jumped the shark years ago. Come out of her, my people.

Yo..yo...Is it my imagination?....Or does Alan seem to have seen one too many penises up close?
Alan Colmes is an exasperating fool whose contributions to society could be listed on the back of a postage stamp using a magic marker.
The unasked, unanswered question that looms over these ridiculous dustups is why do otherwise intelligent people like Hume, Krauthammer, even bombastic O´Reilly, keep watering down their rhetoric by saying they can´t figure out why Obama behaves as he does. Two words open the Pandora´s Box full of all the clues necessary to solve their dilemma -- Cloward and Piven.
For whatever reason, they will not go there. Obama is following the C/P script closely and approving / encouraging the Saul Alinsky tactics from his Chicago thug lieutenants, albeit behind the scenes.
Obama is deceptive and cunning, but not near smart enough to be the author of this treachery. The men behind the curtain have to be found out, exposed, and eliminated if this war is to be won. Obama is just the top front man and is being bought with the ego aggrandizement he so desperately needs and the perks of the job he selfishly enjoys. Michelle is right there lapping up the perks alongside of Barack.
For those of us old enough to remember, maybe it´s time to revive the famous catchphrase, "What a revoltin´ development this is!", the frequent exclamation of indignation uttered by Chester A. Riley (William Bendix) in the radio show, "The Life Of Riley".
Agree posters # 2 and 15. Too bad Bill didn´t lose his cool with Darryl Hannah the other night -she of the champagne socialist type spouting her nonsense about bio fuels and stuff. Darryl -how did you get to DC from out west - on a magic carpet?
As above so below. O´Reilly is a clone of Murdock, frauds and cheap hustlers both. Astounding the number who get their daily ´ration of truth´ from FOX, the network of boobs and boobies. Principled conservatives saw through morons like O´Reilly, Hannity etc, long ago. Obviously there´s plenty of low info r types out there.
Someone posted that most of this stuff is like pro wrestling. The wrestlers would put on a act and then go out for drinks afterward. When Hannity said Bob Beckel was a nice guy and a friend he lost me. I dropped friends like that years ago. I just will not associate with people like Beckel, Colmes, and Williams any more. They mean to destroy the country. Therefore I only watch O´Reilly for the short segment that Dennis Miller is on.
Sheesh, #73, that´s a pretty broad brush. I suspect a lot of "principled conservatives" can still enjoy Bret Baier, Steve Hays, Andrea Tantaros, Brit Hume, Paul Gigot´s WSJ panel, Neal Cavuto, even an occasional Laura Ingraham, while remaining both principled and conservative.
Consenus id Oreilly is correct. In fact I was listening to Rush the other day and it explained succinctly and simply what this occupant in the WH was up to. Rush said he is not Governing leading being a Prsident but his object is to secure the House next election. The rest of his occupancy (two years) will be to enact his Socialist innuendo to distribute the wealth Nationalise Health care ( European style). Creating jobs, cutting the number of regulations that Private company have to comply, of course not that´s not his agenda. He is still in a community organizer mode ,he knows nothing else. Sequester this WH idiot is off his rocker. Example of how Obamama is cutting waste . The salaries for three WH calliphers $227k. We have to nail this person in the WH for the mess in Benghazi The lack of leadewrship causing the deaths of 4 US Citizens.
Hannity and Colmes O´Reilly and Colmes Hannity and Beckel O´Reilly and Marc Lamont Hill The Five (four of them are idiots) Sheperd Smith Greta ANY "democrat strategist" ANY liberal news
Dont waste your precious time on this planet watching these Cable CLOWNS! It is certainly like "pro wrestling" where they fake every move and go out for drinks afterward. If O´Reilly ever got that mad at our very own King Hussein, then I might take a look, but, no, O´Reilly is up there with the lap dog enemedia swabbing his rump all the time. Hey Billy, we´re not THAT stoopid! It´s all about money to these fools. And ratings. The fact that these CLOWNS are employed and paid handsomely by "Fox News" should tell you something.... While we here in flyover country beg for a conservative, patriotic, traditional, real leader who wont LIE every damn day!
Listen to Rush, come here to this wonderful salon, and dont go anywhere else or you´ll get polluted! Because cable news and network news are the same overpaid bozo liars!
I DVR the show because OReilly does have some interesting segments I wouldn´t see elsewhere. But usually I fast forward thru any Democrat strategist type - they´re all the same and spew the same garbage. But OR exploded with Colmes right off the bat and I was entertained by Colmes getting called out on his weasly lying. He´s such a tool of the left - no matter what it is he will defend it if it´s leftist. He has no real opinions of his own apparently.
On Imus this morning, of course he could be counted on to say "Colmes should have got up and left", he´s another shill.
O´Reilly did try to be so neutral on Obama for a long time and it was very irritating. He´s a smart guy, yet couldn´t see through Obama right away like most of us could.
Alan Colmes can infuriate the best of us. It is a challenge to watch and listen to that buffoon spew his ridiculousness all over the FOX news channel. He is absolutely devoid of the ability to reason and critically think. People like that scare me and are very dangerous to our American way of life. I would like to thank Mr. O´Reilly for his very passionate comments. His words were true and I bet millions of Americans feel exactly the same way. We need many more people to stand up and speak out righteously and without fear.
Like most folks in his profession, O´Reilly lives for Access. Access is the mother´s milk of high profile news and info shows. You can see that when BOR has Barbara Walters on to promo one of her shows. BOR isn´t particularly interested in her or her views... He does envy her record of Access through the years. BOR considers his interviews to be first rate and the best of them in his opinion were the couple he did with Obama where he proudly went mano a mano. He wanted more of that Obama access so he bent over backwards to go easy on Obama during the 2012 campaign. But to no avail... No interview. Obama didn´t need him. So now he´s overcompensating for all those pulled punches, furious now with Libs who defend Obama.
But BOR´s lost his judgement when he goes after a knee-jerk Lib clown like Colmes. Colmes every appearance diminishes BOR and FoxNews. BOR needs to settle down, find some mission Libs and confront them.
BOR is a bully and full blown narcissist. All his "for the folks" routine is so old, tired, and as phony as he is. His routine with the women attorneys is embarrassing.
Now he gets excited when his hissy fit target is a dead flashlight? As all the other posters have already stated, he interrupts, non stop bloviates without letup, can annoy an audience to where it considers defenstration rather than having to listen to any more —it´s all about him. I stopped watching him when his telephone sexcapades with a couple of women became known and he was going to be sued big time—he´s the Fox version of Kenny Rodgers who did the same. Like Kenny, BOR had enough $$ to quickly pay off the women and stopped it cold...and it went away. The man is a pig.
I just watched the clip from this show. Typical BOR making a fool out of himself considering his target is an idiot who was born with a perpetual liberal grin to hide the fact that he´s minus a mind.
Funny, with all of the "can´t stand O´Reilly"-type comments, he still has the highest ratings. Flash- O´Reilly can do without such carping critics quite well. (How many $millions do the carpers make per year?)
O´Reilly DID miss the huge socialist boat on Obama, for the longest time, but even a stopped clock gets it right eventually. O´Reilly has given Obama every benefit of the doubt (none was needed) and now tells us exactly what he is, and his evil plans for America. We knew it ALL ALONG Bill!
Stooge Colmes, like Obama, is a guiltless liar and evil fraud. Colmes needs such a tongue-lashing DAILY. As O´Reilly wakes up, so may many Americans.
Aren’t we all tired of this garbage? Wouldn’t we like to hear O´Reilly calmly say: "You are a socialist or a commie, Colmes, and of course you lie. That´s what all Marxist totalitarians do, lie, big time, lie to destroy America. The real bigger lie is that me, Bill O’Reilly, and all my buddies allow you to call yourselves the nice name of `liberal’, which means freedom. And worse we use that word also when referring to destructive commie robots like you, who secretly plot ruin and call themselves `liberal´ and ´progessive´ which they AREN´T !” (end quote) These are words we’d love to hear O’Reilly actually say. He will never say them. O´Reilly is no more honest than his socialist guest, Colmes. Like two TV wrestlers, they stage fake fights to get attenton to their daily drivel. O’Reilly could come clean, if he wanted to come clean. But, Colmes is a hopeless collectivist authoritarian big government spy. O’Reilly is loud and regularly stupid, has modest potential, but doesn’t show it. O’Reilly’s in it for laughs and big bucks. And has best sellers he doesn’t write, and the really funny Dennis Miller, for personal appearances and more bucks. The Colmes/Beckels of FoxTV are total crooks, and the fake conservatives like O’Reilly are showmen first and almost as bad, terrifying, actually ! Stossel and Napolitano are the rare worthies.
(1) O´Reilly is wrong about the true nature of the current administration. Until he admits that, it is more entertaining to watch Matlock reruns on INSP. At least Ben Matlock is interested in the truth. ;-) (2) Lately, The O´Reilly Factor seems more like a daily rehash of Drudge Report and Breitbart headlines. It lacks in-depth or original reporting. (3) Fox News is losing me largely because of their too-frequent commercials. Guests have so little time in which to speak that they are forced to talk too fast - throwing words at the viewer in lieu of communicating with us. (4) I do not object to the presence of sincere liberal voices on Fox News as much as I object to the growing dearth of sincere conservative voices. Their shift to the "political center" is a move to the political left where truth-tellers of either political party are not welcomed. How long before they are just like the rest of the MSM?
O´Reilly has his problems and he isn´t really the right platform for people at our level to watch. However, I do think he has a place for those who are more in the "let´s get along" or "Oh, come on, Obama is just a Democrat President but not really out to destroy America" groups.
That said, I would lose it if I had to deal with Colmes too. I have no patience for pathological liars.
Washington – During a question and answer session Wednesday with Democrats on Capitol Hill, President Barack Obama offered what Democratic sources said was a testy response to a question about a federal loan guarantee program, with one source in the room calling it "rude and dismissive." Other Democrats said they didn´t think the president´s response was dismissive, and pointed out Obama vowed to follow up with an answer. The lawmaker himself, freshman Democratic Rep. Sean Patrick
On Wednesday, CNN aired a portion of an interview one of the network’s reporters was able to conduct with a man accused of participating in the September 11, 2012, attack on an American diplomatic consulate in Benghazi. The individual accused of participating in that attack was not in hiding and said that American investigators were not looking for him. He does, however, deny his direct involvement in that attack. CNN reporter Arwa Damon recently sat down with Ahmed Abdu Khattala who has been accused of playing a role in the Benghazi attack.
April was an unusual, if not the cruelest, month for New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson, who in September will mark two years on the job. On Monday afternoon, April 15, Abramson—who, at 59, is the first woman to serve as top editor in the Times’ 160-year history—had barely begun savoring the four Pulitzer Prizes that her staff had just won (this year’s biggest haul, by far, for any journalistic outlet) when the Boston Marathon bombings occurred. Pulling an all-nighter at one point in the third-floor newsroom of the Times’ Renzo Piano–designed Manhattan skyscraper,
A managing editor at Reuters has been accused of being a global warming skeptic and not running articles on the topic. Global warming coverage fell 50 percent after Reuters hired Paul Ingrassia as deputy editor, Media Matters reports. The issue came to light after former Reuters climate correspondent David Fogarty wrote about it on an insider blog. Fogarty said Ingrassia told him personally he was “skeptical” of global warming, and that after he became deputy editor, “getting any climate change-themed story published got harder.”
NEW YORK - New York City´s crackdown on big, sugary sodas is staying on ice. An appeals court ruled Tuesday that New York City´s Board of Health exceeded its legal authority and acted unconstitutionally when it tried to put a size limit on soft drinks served in city restaurants. The state Supreme Court Appellate Division panel upheld a lower court decision that had delayed the measure before it took effect in March. The rule would stop many eateries from selling non-diet soda and other sugar-laden beverages in containers bigger than 16 ounces. The beverage industry and other opponents
Recipients of federal disability checks often admit that they are capable of working but cannot or will not find a job, that those closest to them tell them they should be working, and that working to get off the disability rolls is not among their goals. More baffling, most have never received significant medical treatment and not seen a doctor about their condition in the last year, even though medical problems are the official reason they don´t work. Those who acknowledge they´re on disability because they can´t find a job say they make little effort
With his signature second-term agenda priorities — gun control and amnesty — all but dead, President Obama has once again begun to search for someone — anyone — to blame. See, none of this is his fault. Five years of sky-high unemployment, an out-of-control federal deficit, spending run amok, gas prices twice what they were in 2008: Not His Fault. Yes, he did promise to be the great savior of America (he even pledged that the sea levels would drop under his leadership, remember?),
Talk about strange bedfellows. CNN and Fox News are rivals. So are CNN and MSNBC. And no one needs reminding of the warm feelings MSNBC and Fox have for each other. But with Fox winning the ratings race, jockeying for second place is the hottest ticket on the cable news fight card, at least for now. MSNBC jumped into this position after a relatively stellar 2012, primarily thanks to the Presidential Election and the performance of its own horse in that race. But 2013—a non-election year—it’s been a whole new ballgame, as CNN has greatly
This iconic picture of firefighters raising the stars and stripes in the rubble of Ground Zero was nearly excluded from the 9/11 Memorial Museum — because it was “rah-rah” American, a new book says. Michael Shulan, the museum’s creative director, was among staffers who considered the Tom Franklin photograph too kitschy and “rah-rah America,” according to “Battle for Ground Zero” (St. Martin’s Press) by Elizabeth Greenspan, out next month. “I really believe that the way America will look best, the way we can really do best, is to not be Americans so vigilantly and so vehemently,” Shulan said.
James Thurber once drew some cartoons of a woman playing poker. In one, she is seated at a table clutching her cards to her breast, eying the capacious pot, and inquiring, “What do four ones beat?” In another she is glaring across the table, demanding to know, “Why do you keep raising me when you know I’m bluffing?” Whether Brother Remnick of the New Yorker could get away with publishing such japes nowadays, we don’t know. But we were put in mind of the cartoons by the alarm at the New York Times over the possibility that President Obama
Most 4-year-olds don´t know the name of every state on the map, let alone the capitals. But most kids that age aren´t like Anala Beevers, a New Orleans-based genius who was recently invited to join MENSA, an international organization for people who score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test. Beevers – who never leaves home without her map of America, which is said to be her favorite thing – knew the English alphabet at 4 months old,
When Michele Bachmann picked on Huma Abedin a year ago — claiming she had some convoluted connection to the Muslim Brotherhood — there was a rush to defend the longtime Hillary Clinton aide. The Minnesota congresswoman quickly got a scolding from House Speaker John Boehner, Sen. John McCain, House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Rogers. But now that her husband, Anthony Weiner, is running for New York City mayor, the attacks on Abedin aren´t so ridiculous, and Abedin herself is not quite so untouchable. Sen. Chuck Grassley is continuing his investigation
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all. But even more surprising, while the former vice presidential candidate has made Alaska a central part of her public image, the state´s residents split on the question of whether Palin is all that Alaskan. Conducted by Public Policy Polling,
In her first speech since taking over the Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy came out swinging Tuesday and promised to ramp up the aggressive climate change agenda laid out by President Obama.(snip)“Can we stop talking about environmental regulations killing jobs? Please, at least for today,” she said during remarks at Harvard Law School. “We need to cut carbon pollution to grow jobs. We need to cut carbon pollution to strengthen the economy. Let’s talk about it positively. Let’s approach this as an opportunity of a lifetime. There are too many lifetimes at stake.”
A sex tape that Monica Lewinsky recorded for Bill Clinton at the height of their scandalous affair has leaked, during which the former White House intern is heard planning a secret sexual rendezvous with the president and declaring she is “too cute and adorable” to be ignored.
