How Long Has Hugo Chavez Been Dead?

| The past couple of weeks have played out very strangely in Venezuela. In the span of a few days, we were told that Hugo Chávez was probably dead then probably not then definitely so. But where´s the body? Conspiracy theorists are going to have a ball with this. Before we start exploring the crazy world of crackpot conspiracy theories, let´s get one thing straight. Hugo Chávez is dead. He was very sick with cancer for a very long time, and despite the Venezuelan people´s holding out hope that he would recover, Chávez succumbed to his illness.

We don´t know if Chavez succumbed to his illness or contracted a deadly respiratory infection in he hospital. These lung germs are drug resistant and are popping up all over. But never mind, the dragged his death out and left the ambiguity of his death on purpose to protect Cuba´s great socialized medicine, which the world´s left adores.

Yes - - as I´ve continually posted here - - Hugo has been dead for quite a while - - but - -
- - he´s shown great improvement - - especially in recent days - - and there´s no reason to believe he won´t continue to do so.

He was "alive" to get through the election, after which he was no longer needed.

Re #16, article refers to him as a "Bolivarian leader". Bolivarian = in the style of Simon Bolivar, his idol. Chavez even had Bolivar´s corpse exhumed to determine if he might be a descendent of Bolivar. There´s an article by Christopher Hitchens about the exhumation (from the archives) posted at Lucianne yesterday.

I´ve wondered if the doctors that "treated" him really treated him. What if his successor told the doctors to stop doing anything that would help Chavez so that he definitely would not recover - just make it look like they were trying to heal him. Republican leaders in Congress received a dire warning on Tuesday from former Vice President Dick Cheney on the ongoing crisis in North Korea. “We’re in deep doo doo,” Cheney told lawmakers, according to a GOP leadership aide. Cheney added the current North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, is unpredictable and doesn´t share the United States worldview. One lawmaker present at the session, Rep. How many federal agencies does it take to do catfish safety inspections? At least three, according to the Government Accountability Office, which on Tuesday released its 2013 report on fragmentation and duplication of federal programs. This year´s report -- there were two previous editions of the report first requested by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. -- documents an estimated $95 billion in duplicative programs that waste precious tax dollars. That brings the three-year total of potential savings documented by GAO to $295 billion. Having three agencies doing catfish safety inspections may strike some as funny, but there is nothing to laugh about

WASHINGTON — Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. showed up late at an event last week, saying he was delayed because “the president keeps those meetings going longer.” But he walked into a Hillary Clinton crowd. Outside, supporters hoisted signs urging her to run for president. Inside, she was greeted as a hero. Not that Mr. Biden was an afterthought. He had plenty of friends in the room. But at the Kennedy Center, where women’s achievements were being honored by an organization Mrs. Clinton helped found, even Mr. Biden recognized that the best applause line belonged to her.

There´s more than a touch of Chicken Little in common arguments for more infrastructure spending. "The bridges are falling, the bridges are falling!" Every four years, the American Society of Civil Engineers issues the U.S. an infrastructure "report card." And, just as predictably, it says that U.S. infrastructure is decrepit and needs expensive new investments. The latest one, released last month, gave the nation a D+ grade and recommended an extra $1.6 trillion in spending by 2020. Are American bridges actually falling, though? Is the U.S. underinvested in infrastructure? Maybe it´s going too far to say,

WASHINGTON — Contrary to assurances it has deployed U.S. drones only against known senior leaders of al Qaida and allied groups, the Obama administration has targeted and killed hundreds of suspected lower-level Afghan, Pakistani and unidentified “other” militants in scores of strikes in Pakistan’s rugged tribal area, classified U.S. intelligence reports show. The administration has said that strikes by the CIA’s missile-firing Predator and Reaper drones are authorized only against “specific senior operational leaders of al Qaida and associated forces” involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks who are plotting “imminent” violent attacks on Americans.

I am always amazed — amazed — when anyone has the gall to dismiss, even laugh off, the suggestion that the right to keep and bear arms is a smart and necessary provision for a free society. Human history (not to mention current events!) is too chock-full of examples of nefarious regimes violently abusing and controlling their people, and the freedoms enjoyed by American citizens are the exception, not the rule. During a committee hearing of the Oregon state senate in considering their own state package of gun-control legislation last week, one testifier reminded the assembled lawmakers of one

More than six months since Ambassador Christopher Stevens was assassinated by terrorists in Benghazi, the Obama administration is still trying to keep a lid on information about the attack. Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Members of Congress have asked hundreds of questions at hearings conducted by several investigative committees, but many of the most significant have been left unanswered. Information detailing what happened before, during and Headline corrected.
