Paul LePage blasted the United States Department of Agriculture for denying his request for a waiver to allow the state to require food stamp recipients to provide photo identification when using their electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards as way to cut down on fraud. “[USDA] denied our request, saying that the use of photo ID would be ineffective in reducing fraud and abuse,” he said during his weekly radio address over the weekend. “This is a shocking statement.” The USDA also claimed in their denial letter that such a requirement would result in the “material impairment

There´s no way Obama is going to give states one inch when it comes to federal supremacy issues. that all went down the sewer with the ruling on Arizona´s sb1070 bill.If the feds have their clews in something,you dance to their tune.Of course Obama is all for state laws like legalizing pot where he could exercise federal over rides.

Yes, that is an amazing statistic, especially since Maine is not on the southern border.
Obama´s feds are really diligent in opposing photo ID for anything. Would not want any arguments in court saying that poor people already have to have photo ID for food stamps, so that the ID is readily available to show at the voting booth.
The feds want palm/finger prints built-in for gun safety, but don´t want any proof of ID for a non-constitutional "right" to EBT cards.

The liberal Democrats, Obama included, will never go along with any sort of photo ID to combat any sort of fraud because 99% or or more of the perpetrators of such fraud are liberal Democrat voters if they vote at all.
What the country needs is a modern social security card bearing a digital photo that is instantly verifiable through electronic means as commercial credit cards are today. Then when the card is presented the person looking at the card will be able to have confidence that it is being presented by the rightful bearer and that the card is valid.
If that were to happen a lot of general ID based fraud and social security number based fraud would no longer be occurring, and illegal alien impostors would no longer be able to get hired to most US jobs worth them having.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
