Romney: ‘Obamacare
Was Very Attractive’

Weekly Standard, by Jeffrey H. Anderson

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 3/4/2013 12:16:13 PM

When Chris Wallace asked Mitt Romney on Fox News Sunday why he lost the election, one of the reasons Romney gave was, “Obamacare was very attractive, particularly [for] those without health insurance, and they came out in large numbers to vote, so that was part of a successful campaign.” Like much of the Republican response to the 2012 election, this is exactly the opposite conclusion from that which should be drawn. Obamacare was the one issue that most pegged Obama as a big government liberal in the eyes of the American citizenry.

Comments:
Oh groan. ´This is exactly the opposite conclusion from that which should be drawn.´ That´s an understatement!! I already dread the 2014 and 2016 elections, even though they are now in the distant future.

Reminding me, once again, the ONLY thing good about Obama winning was Romney lost.

Should have said "THE MYTH of Obamacare was very attractive". At least to the ignorant and gullible.

Elections are decided on the margin. that is, a relatively small group, the NRA for example, can determine the outcome if they are dedicated enough.
There was a sub set of voters in 2012 who had kids just finishing college, but without employer provided health insurance. So the ´up to age 26´ coverage was really important to those parents, and their chillun. (In Pa., $6000 value with highmark blue shield.)
So to some degree, Romney is correct. But when the full impact of kenyacare comes crashing down, it will be apparent, even to that sub set of voters, that the law was bad.

If this is his take away, ugh...

It´s still the economy, folks.

Just look at the statements by Obama´s administration on how we are STILL inching our way along.
And this with the help of $5 trillion in deficit spending, and record low interest rates, lower dollar, and stock market at near record high from 2007.

Why isn´t the economy growing and people feeling like it is?
Can´t really get credit, or refinance a loan (unless you don´t really need it), 8%+ unemployment, massive amounts of under-employment, record-high gasoline prices, high taxes from local, state and counties adding-in extra, electricity prices climbing, and a current administration trying to regulate the economy that will only benefit the super-sized corporations.

Republicans would do well to concentrate on unleashing the U.S. energy resource use to help produce jobs, lower price of gasoline, lower prices of electricity, all which will create jobs and produce tax revenues that will support local, county and state governments.

Romney lost because he spurned the conservative base, which either did not turn out, or they only voted the downticket, intentionally not voting the head of the ballot, or voting third party.

It was always Romney´s to lose, and by golly, he pulled it off. Failure to inform translated into low-information voters going to the polls.

Romney, as a result of his strict religious upbringing, was the perfect opponent for Obama.

Mitt knows that it is a sin (and should be a crime) to claim to know the hearts and minds and motives of others. Therefore he (in good conscience) could not call Barky the lying sack of poo that he is. So Mitt came off as the polite, rich kid, choir boy that he is.
It matters not that he is exactly the person of good conscience that we need.

Romney ran conservative in the primaries, and then after dispatching the true conservatives, he started liking things in Obamacare.

THAT´s why the conservatives stayed home. Its unfortunate, but we could not take him at his word to get rid of Obamacare.

Obamacare is going to be the downfall of this nation in a few years´ time. Ameritopia is almost here, but as we all know, there is no such thing, only failure.

No society in the history of the world has ever taxed and spent its way into prosperity, and just because Obama is setting all this up, its not about to change.

We have not learned the lessons of history.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.
