| Tuesday it will have been a half-century since the premature death of Patsy Cline deprived the world of one of the finest and most charismatic musical stylists of the 20th century (or of any other century, come to that). Patsy’s many fans, which include me, have every reason to wonder what might have been had she been given a few more decades to perform and record. And every reason to mourn what is surely a considerable loss. But damn I’m glad we had her while we did. What she left behind is a treasure.

I loved her when I was a kid and I love her now that I´m old and gray. I still listen to her now. My wife´s ringtone when she calls is "I fall to pieces."

Excellent tribute. I have her greatest hits and play them in the rare times when I´m alone; I cannot tolerate someone talking over Patsy singing. And, yes, a few voices do have that "paralyzing" effect. Elvis and Patsy come to mind.

Ah! Tears in my eyes remembering the Saturday nights with the sounds of the ‘Grand Ol’ Opry’ fading in and out on the radio while Patsy sang her songs. Names I hadn’t thought of in a long time in this article. Memories of a era long gone…..and truly missed.

There are certain songs that nobody should even try to record again, because the definitive version has been done. Several of Patsy´s songs fall into that category. Sweet Dreams, for example - although Emmy Lou Harris and my wife do the song more than justice. Beyond those three - don´t even try it.

She was gifted by God with a great instrument. I have some of her DVD´s. I also love the fact that Loretta Lynn(another great one) named one of her daughters after Patsy.

Just reading the comments here brought back memories for me. My name is actually Patsy and I have had many people ask me over the years if I was named after her. That didn´t happen, as I am only 11 years older than she was. It´s interesting how many people think of her though, when I say that name. She was one of a kind. I was 2 years out of high school when she died. I remember it well. Special Memories.

Add the name of Michelle Lynne (ne Robert) Kosilek to the list of modern phenomena the Founding Fathers would definitely not appreciate being blamed for. Little did they know what havoc they would someday wreak by adding the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution to prohibit “cruel and unusual punishment.” Now comes Kosilek, a convicted wife murderer doing life without parole. He/she is claiming that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to deny him/her a sex-change operation — excuse me, “gender-reassignment surgery.”Not to get too graphic, but Kosilek is begging for elective amputation of a body part.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 40.86 points to 14565.25 after the Labor Department announced that the seasonally adjusted number of new jobs created in March was just 88,000 — far below the 190,000 or so Wall Street expected. The March figure was also less than one-third the number of jobs created during February. This led to the misperception that the job market tanked in March. It didn’t.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
