| Last week, the Partnership for a Secure America (PSA), led by former Democratic representative Lee Hamilton and former Republican senator Warren Rudman, released a letter signed by 36 other formerly important people insisting that the United States must take action on climate change for national-security reasons. The letter begins: The effect of climate change in the world’s most vulnerable regions present[s] a serious threat to American national security interests. As a matter of risk management, the United States must work with international partners, public and private, to address this impending crisis. . . .

Not totally dead -- only his brain. These are well-intentioned people with good records overall; but, the´ve been misled and obviously spent alot of time on things other than hard sciences and math. They must have forgotten the history they read as well. The planet can and will warm and cool. Warm periods have always led to plenty and cold periods have confined life to much smaller areas of the globe. Warming and cooling came and went without any input from mankind, and atmospheric carbon levels were sometimes ten times what they are today. Ancient shorelines also tell us that sea levels were much higher in Roman times than today -- as old harbors are now hundreds of yards on dry land -- inland from where they unloaded Roman vessels. Carbon is our friend and not our enemy. Plants grow better and absorb it and release more oxygen for us to breathe. There is more, so much more.....

This is an important article which shows how strong the influence of Leftist organizations anti-capitalist ideas has become. Note that the PSA gets its ideas for the climate-change campaign from a group called the Energy Foundation - a coalition of environmental groups. Reading further into the piece you see the same type of anti-science garbage was being sold in the 1960´s - this time under Aegis of population control. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon.
