| London — Online note-taking service Evernote Corp. says it has been hacked and is resetting all its 50 million users´ passwords as a precaution. The Redwood City, California-based company said in a post published late Saturday that an attacker had been able to access sensitive customer information and that every user would have their account reset "in an abundance of caution." Evernote software keeps a mirror of one´s notepads in "the cloud." Which in this company´s case turned out to not be secure; always worth considering how much personal information (especially passwords and such) you´re willing to store online.

Worrisome. Everything - I mean *everything* I have is saved to Evernote. 2 PC´s, a tablet and an Android. Had to reset all those passwords today.

Sorry, but why would you put your passwords on a storage device that you don´t own? I always thought that´s what thumb drives are for, and why most have a little hole in them, hang it around your neck.

Condolences to any L-dotters caught in this.
Now... for myself, putting everything in the hands of a third party is something I never expect to do. I live in a smallish city, not in a rural area. One can´t drive more than a few miles in any direction here without finding a college campus. Still, there are plenty of places without WiFi, some even without cell coverage [it´s hilly]. So there´s no 24/7 "Cloud" access.
Why would I want to do everything through a wireless connection? Dependent not only on connectivity, but on at least three third parties: an ISP; the carrier they sub-contract to; and the "Cloud" service [like Evernote].
And problems like this one are just too frequent.
And Obama wants all medical records on something like this?

The report to be released Monday by the Drug Policy Alliance shows 4 out of 10 county jail inmates have been granted bail but can´t afford to post it. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise.
