Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. has released a new public service announcement, suggesting residents can arm themselves to protect themselves against crime. The spot started airing Friday as Milwaukee County´s highest-profile law enforcement officers - Clarke and Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn - are part of the national debate over proposed gun control measures. Clarke´s 30-second audio spot seems to take aim at the jurisdiction of the Milwaukee Police Department and the court system.

One big problem. Once the citizen arms himself, where does he get ammo for his new firearm. In my area, the only available ammo is a few boxes of shotgun shells suitable for dove hunting. 22 rimfire is even totally unavailable.

Amen #2. Even if you do have ammo, you´re reluctant to go practice because you don´t know if you´ll be able to replace it. And if you do, at what cost?

´Be not afraid of any man
No matter what his size
When danger threatens, call on me
And I will equalize.

The ammo supply will return when the companies catch up. This happened when Hussein was elected in 2008. Gunowners were afraid (righfully) that the Marxist wanted to disarm the country. I also think that the outrage and pushback startled the left when they started their ´ban this/ban that´ campaign.

We will have some blue states try to grab headlines by grabbing guns on their own but even in New York there are pro-gun protests in Albany.

The ammo shortage of 09 pales in comparison to this. To wit, just came from Cheaperthandirt. You´re out of luck if you want 22lr , .380, 38, 9mm 357.......
I remember the inconvenience of 09, this is starting to get scary . Especially for those poor souls who are just now trying to stock up.

KIEV/BALACLAVA, Ukraine - Ukraine mobilized on Sunday for war and called up its reserves, after Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to invade in the biggest confrontation between Moscow and the West since the Cold War. Ukraine´s security council ordered the general staff to immediately put all armed forces on highest alert, the council´s secretary Andriy Parubiy announced. The Defense Ministry was ordered to conduct the call-up, potentially of all men up to 40 in a country that still has universal male conscription.

A provision of President Barack Obama’s health-care reforms requiring group insurance plans to cover contraceptives violates the constitutional right to religious freedom, a federal appeals court in Washington said. A three-judge panel ruled yesterday in a lawsuit filed by two brothers who are Catholic and, on religious grounds, excluded coverage for contraceptives from the health plans of their produce-distribution companies in violation of the Patient Proctection and Affordable Care Act. “We must determine whether the contraceptive mandate imposed by the act trammels the right of free exercise -— a right that lies at the core of our constitutional liberties -—

Illinois´ old law banning the concealed carry of firearms took another hit Thursday. A federal court already found it unconstitutional last year. Now the Illinois Supreme Court has taken the same position. Alberto Aguilar was 17 when Chicago police arrested him for having a loaded handgun with the serial number scratched off. He was convicted of unlawfully possessing a firearm and sentenced to 24 months probation. While his appeal was pending before the Illinois Supreme Court, a federal court in Chicago struck down Illinois´ ban on public gun possession, finding it violated the U.S. Constitution. The Illinois legislature also legalized concealed

According to Senator Chuck Grassley, the IRS’s tax-exempt division director Lois Lerner refused to resign after she was asked to do so by the agency’s acting commissioner: “My understanding is the new acting IRS commissioner asked for Ms. Lerner’s resignation, and she refused to resign. She was then put on administrative leave instead. From all accounts so far, the IRS acting commissioner was on solid ground to ask for her resignation... The IRS owes it to taxpayers to resolve her situation quickly.

Sharyl Attkisson, the Emmy award-winning investigative reporter, is in talks to leave CBS News ahead of contract, POLITICO has learned. Sources familiar with the situation cite disputes between Attkisson and network executives, including CBS Evening News executive producer Patricia Shevlin, as the cause for the talks, though the specific issues could not be confirmed. "I am under contract at CBS and I have not quit," Attkisson told POLITICO in a written statement. She declined to comment further. CBS News declined to comment; a request to speak with Shevlin was redirected to the press office.

It’s a cliché, of course, but it really is true: in Washington, every scandal has a crime and a coverup. The ongoing debate about the attack on the United States facility in Benghazi where four Americans were killed, and the Obama Administration’s response to it, is no exception. For a long time, it seemed like the idea of a coverup was just a Republican obsession. But now there is something to it. On Friday, ABC News’s Jonathan Karl revealed the details of the editing process

There has been a lot written about a Politico piece that ran Wednesday in the wake of a Washington Post profile of CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson. The Post profile was mostly positive, painting the picture of an intrepid reporter willing to take on the story of a terrorist attack in Libya in the face of enormous pushback from the Obama White House. The Politico piece, however, was nothing more than unsubstantiated gossip meant only to tarnish Attkisson.

As House Republicans piece together the events in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 11, 2012, that led to the death of four Americans, the focus has fallen on the talking points the Obama administration used to describe the attack in the days following. [Snip] While the White House says the changes were merely stylistic, the changes suggest administration officials were interested in sparing the State Department from political criticism in the wake of the attack. CBS News has learned there was a flurry of approximately 100 interagency government emails on Sept. 14 and Sept. 15

How did the 2013 Kentucky Derby
horses get their names?
Lexington Herald-Leader [KY], by Linda B. Blackford    Original Article

There´s a distinctly militaristic theme to this year´s Kentucky Derby field, with names like Revolutionary, Lines of Battle, Java´s War, Normandy Invasion, even Will Take Charge. Possibly coincidence, possibly due to the fact that these colts were named two to three years ago, when the U.S. was still embroiled in overseas conflicts. "Current events do affect the names of horses," said Shannon Luce, spokeswoman for the Jockey Club, which registers all Thoroughbreds and monitors the rules for naming them. After the 2000 presidential election, for example, there were several horses with the word "chad" in their names, including Hanging Chads.

Documents acquired by The Associated Press Tuesday say Jenny Sanford confronted her ex-husband leaving her South Carolina home on Feb. 3. Her attorney filed a complaint the next day and she confirms the documents are authentic. In them, she says he was using his cellphone as a flashlight as he left. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.
